jeff_h Report post Posted May 8, 2014 How can I tell my map version? I thought I saw that on this thread but now I can't find it. Remove your nav card from the center console (push down and it should click out), yours probably says 'A4' on it 1 Wingmn reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted May 8, 2014 You can add contacts from your phone to MFT. On MFT choose Phone/Phonebook/choose a contact/options/Set as destination or save to favorite destination.I tried this yesterday and some of my addresses worked but the majority came back as "not a valid Address".So I checked how I had entered the address data and some where not in the right boxes on my main computer and the iCloud, I fixed them all and made sure my iPhone had the same data. Then I tried again, same thing... not a valid address, so I 'refreshed' all my MFT iPhone data and updated all the addresses, still no joy.I'll look at it again today to see what I'm doing wrong with the addresses that won't transfer to my 'Favorite Destinations'.Maybe I'll re-pair the phone and re-upload all the address data so I know for sure that it's correct, and try again to input to Favorite Destinations. FordIVTteam Report post Posted May 8, 2014 I just get more frustrated with my decision every time I look at it or have to use it. I just expected more for my money. Hey Bryan, Would you like me to submit your feedback about the navigation system? If so, please PM your VIN, phone number, mileage, and your suggestions for improvement. If you're noticing actual addresses that are not showing up correctly on a map, I encourage you to report them here: http://here.com/mapcreator/ Kim
Easy Rider Report post Posted May 8, 2014 You can push the right hand OK button on the steering wheel and voice command will repeat the last guidance update. If you want it on just push the command button and say "voice guidance on" and it will then continue updating. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I learned something new that I will have to try. Will the OK button work like that even if "nav" is not selected for display in the right little dash window ?? I don't see how any of that really pertains to the problem I described though.
Easy Rider Report post Posted May 8, 2014 OK, so who REALLY has the time to thoroughly test all of the neat features of a new car before buying.....I mean REALLY ?? In my case, I would NOT even have the NAV at all except that it came with a package that I did want......and I had no intention of waiting 3 months to special order one........if I could even GET one equipped exactly like I wanted (doubtful because of the "packages"). And for those who want their threads to stay "pure" and not wander off onto tangents........start your own forum and police it as YOU see fit. P.S. My salesman continues to insist that for my vehicle with the Sync package, the updates will be free. I'm extremely skeptical. 1 GrySql reacted to this

When I removed the country it worked fine. I guess since MFT doesn't have country field so it doesn't know how to handle the extra field. SteveB_TX Report post Posted May 8, 2014 You were way too kind to that :censored: GrySql. :) Now, to get this thread BACK ON TOPIC... The Ford Parts Site I use has it listed for $96.00, or something like that. Although I am not positive if the site is up-to-date. 3 GrySql, corncobs and jeff_h reacted to this
gkinla Report post Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) Will the OK button work like that even if "nav" is not selected for display in the right little dash window ?? Yes,. Correction, it's a definite no. I just tried it and the guidance only repeats while the RH screen is in navigation. I thought I tried it before while the RH screen was in entertainment. GrySql Report post Posted May 9, 2014 Now, to get this thread BACK ON TOPIC... The Ford Parts Site I use has it listed for $96.00, or something like that. Although I am not positive if the site is up-to-date. This is how Levittown Ford sells it.Jeff_h also provided this from the Motorcraft Parts website. I've been leaving the Nav display running as we putt around local and the A5 card puts me right on target so far.In the next weeks I'll tell you how it works while driving from CA to NV, UT, CO, NE, MO, IA, SD and back again.I'll have my Garmin running at the same time as a point of reference. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

GrySql Report post Posted May 14, 2014 Just drove from SoCal thru NV, AZ and currently am in Richfield, UT.I have the MFT Nav w/A5 card and my Garmin running, I'm comparing devices. So far the MFT Nav gave me one bad direction and lost it's way.Once it told me to get off I-15N at the next exit and return to I-15N on the same exit - an on and off manuver. My Garmin told me to stay put.Next, in Mesquite, NV at a gas/potty stop the MFT got confused at a Yield/Round-About that took me back to the highway, the Garmin gave me the correct instructions. The MFT has a nice picture but I finally had to Mute the Voice Prompts. Too much competition for the wife. acdii Report post Posted May 14, 2014 oh that reminds me, watch the settings on MFT, if you choose ecoroute it will take you to places you never wanted to go to. I have seen it try to take me off the main highway for 20 miles and then back on the same highway. I have a spare A4 card, I wonder if my dealer would like to make a trade :)

bz101 Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Are these SD card updates purely for road/POI/map data or would it have any effect on the functionality (e.g., the way SiriusXM traffic reroutes or the routing engine itself for optimal routes)? Thanks.
GrySql Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Maybe Kim, our Ford IVT Rep, could comment on that. I sure don't know.
Waldo Report post Posted May 15, 2014 They are data cards only. All the software is inside the modules.
acdii Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Since the cards are read only, there is no way to lock it to the VIN like the DVD's were. I can use the one I pulled from the Flex and use it in my MKT or Fusion. As long as the card can be fully read, it can be copied. They could however create a hidden lock file that cant be copied correctly that ties the software to the hardware regardless of a serial.
Easy Rider Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Are these SD card updates purely for road/POI/map data or would it have any effect on the functionality (e.g., the way SiriusXM traffic reroutes or the routing engine itself for optimal routes)? Thanks. The map data is EVERYTHING........well mostly anyway. Errors or omissions on the map can and will make the routing "funny." Strange directions that happen at a specific place or at similar places usually are because of map faults. NOW...................I think that my NAV unit is fully functional all on it's own.......maybe with help from a paired phone. How does this SiriusXM stuff fit into the picture ??Since SiriusXM is so good at sucking money out of us.......I'm betting that one has to pay extra to keep the extra NAV functions.....right ?? GrySql Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Had one glitch today with the MFT Nav where I-70E had a construction detour near Vail, CO, a natural enough error.Somehow the latest Garmin map did have the detour though, amazing.

I bought an A5 card and headed to PA this weekend where I will definitely need the Nav, hopefully won't have any strange anomalies. 1 GrySql reacted to this
