FordIVTteam Report post Posted April 6, 2014 Kim: I don't know whats worse Ford Nav maps or the site you sent me to. I kept poking in adresses untill I found the one in front of my house. My house is 1907, the address that corosponds is 1937 and the site you sent me to showed 300. I corrected it but its WAY off.The navmaps are closer to what the googls maps showed before I corrected them.Try it your self.1907 scenic dr section al. 35771Google earth is spot on. Hi larrylwill, This is the best website I can offer to report inaccurate map information. Although HERE is closed on Sundays, you can call them if you have questions about the map creator website. The phone number is 888-628-6277 and they will be open 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. EST tomorrow. They are much more knowledgeable about the map updates than I am; I don't want to provide incorrect information. Since I already have most of your information I'll document your feedback about the navigation system and send a PM with the case number. Kim
md13ffhguy Report post Posted April 10, 2014 When I was in the process of purchasing my Fusion, my salesman also told me that map updates were free - forever. I didn't really think to believe him, though, as I assumed he was either uninformed, misinformed, or lying. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
SteveB_TX Report post Posted April 10, 2014 Probably all three! I didn't even think to ask my salesman about updates. I just wanted to get in the car and drive. :) Now, if I had purchased my car from the only local Lincoln dealer, all three would apply... Question: How many salesmen does it take to release the electronic parking brake on a 2013 Lincoln MKZ? Answer: 5 (including the new car manager). That's how many it took before the salesman at my local dealer could move the car out of the showroom for a test drive! 2 GrySql and acdii reacted to this
dalesky Report post Posted April 10, 2014 I like my nav, as far as it being helpful goes. It has some annoying specifics, but it is accurate and finds what I am looking for, every time.
larrylwill Report post Posted April 10, 2014 Its only accurate IF it finds what you are looking for. In my case my house was about 1.5 miles off and the metal supply was not shown. Other than that, its great.
acdii Report post Posted April 10, 2014 My recent trip to Toledo showed how inaccurate the NAV is, both of them. The hotel was shown 1/4 mile further up and the road didn't exist on the map. It's not like it was a new hotel either, it at least 10 years old. The Exhibition center though was spot on, until I went to leave, it appears that a road used to exist, and was replaced by a building, so it was tell me to turn where there was no road. The TomTom had the same information and its less than a year since the last update.
James Sentman Report post Posted April 10, 2014 P.S. I can't understand why someone cant figure out how to just be able to send your phone google maps or apple maps using Bluetooth) to the already built in system. This way you already have the latest maps and no extra cost. The stuff is all there to do this in any number of different ways. There isn’t any reason that the cars mostly useless wifi capabilities couldn’t run an apple air play server on the thing and let you mirror your phone screen to it. There are similar android features that would work. The problem being that you could then mirror anything to the screen and end up watching dirty movies on the highway. To actually make the touch screen work as a remote screen isn’t impossible either, it just requires that the 2 developer teams actually work together. The bigger the company the harder this is, here you’ve got MS and Apple and Google and Ford ;) Chances of protocols and specifics being adopted without infighting exactly 0% ;)
larrylwill Report post Posted April 16, 2014 Comming home yesterday from the same place I shop I punched in home, and 2 times in 10 miles I got a message unmapped area. The route is more than 50 years old and has not changed. So why is it now an unmapped area, although it still showed the road I was on and the navagation was correct. larrylwill Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Lately getting Entering map data incomplete area, be careful or something like that. I saw this when I put in my home destination and went a different way and it had to re rout. Seems any destination that you do not follow the rout I am getting this message. Is this normal? These roads have been here for 75 years.
hybridbear Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Navigation has worked great for us in Canada. Maps have been perfectly accurate and have been a big help in navigating a city that's only vaguely familiar.
acdii Report post Posted April 20, 2014 I got that in the first 13 when we went to Florida. I forgot to disable the ferry and other parts, and that damned thing had me taking a ferry on dark and stormy night. Once we got across the river I started to get those messages too. The roads are there on the map, but the speed limits, and other road information has not been entered in the software, to it cant inform you about the specifics, hence, unknown road. larrylwill Report post Posted April 20, 2014 I have all the disabled, The firsttime I used it I did not have any problems, no I get it even wwhen riding through town.Yes the roads are there. I have 3 other gps's and the Ford one is the only one with that problem. I wish I could plug in my other gps and have it show on the screen. On another topic, is there a way to have the points of interest show on the map as you are driving? Like restaurants and gas?
GrySql Report post Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) On another topic, is there a way to have the points of interest show on the map as you are driving? Like restaurants and gas?The other day, while parked, I was trying to get my nearby POI's to show using the steering wheel control for right dash display and every time I selected a topic, like Fueling stations or any type of POI, it would just return to the main POI menu on the dash display.I can get that info by navigating through the Main Nav screen on the MFT - but not while driving.I haven't tried the Voice Commands yet. I also wish it would show the Destination Addresses closest to the car as we drive, the list remains just how you enter it.My portable GPS shows the closest of my entered data on the screen as we near it, and updates the list to show the closest entered address on my list - the MFT Nav only shows the address you are seeking.I guess I'm not clued into all the 'features' this MFT Nav has. However, in trips it has been fairly accurate in placing the car where it's supposed to be.I use both the portable GPS and the MFT Nav and like to see the location differences, and there are some. acdii Report post Posted April 21, 2014 The dash POI doesn't work in ANY Ford with this type of dash, including the Lincoln Mutton Lettuce and Tomato. 2 GrySql and hybridbear reacted to this
larrylwill Report post Posted April 21, 2014 The biggest problem is were all used to a good bnave portable unit and MFT Nav falls FAR short of a good nav unit but cost 10 time more. Had I known now what I now know I would have just bought a 7" portable nav unit and saved $
acdii Report post Posted April 21, 2014 Here is an opposite view of that, even though a portable only costs between $100 and $300, if you leave it plugged in and visible, there is a chance that some schmuck will break in and steal it, just because. The end result could cost just as much as the built in Nav which can't be stolen. The portables are much better than the built in, but for what it does it does well enough for me. For long trips though I always take my TomTOm with, just in case. Except for my trip to Toledo, it is a straight shot so did not have to worry about roads. Neither Nav would have helped with the return trip though, the ramp to I80 was closed and I failed to see the detour signs and wound up taking the stupid skyway and getting stuck in Chitcago Kennedy traffic. larrylwill Report post Posted May 4, 2014 Why doesn't the steering wheel button to select home work? I can select home on the screen, or tell it to go home but when I find home on the steering wheel there is no arrow beside home and when I push home it goes into a wait and comes back to home but the nav doesn't work. IraF Report post Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but selecting poi's on the steering wheel will usually send it back to categories however if you continue to push say financial's you will see banks eventually maybe 5 6 7 etc times , but this is a bug that Ford is very well aware of. I have spoken to Ford very recently about this bug and in their office they have a mock up Nav unit which does the same. Their may be a new version beyond 3.6.2 which will address this problem but they did not indicate eta, and a lot smarter people in this forum then i have suggested a bus problem in the electronics and most likely they are right. http://bugs.outofmytouch.com/issues/181 Edited May 4, 2014 by IraF 1 Boat Racer reacted to this
larrylwill Report post Posted May 4, 2014 PIO's work as everything else, its just Nav HOME that doesn't.
IraF Report post Posted May 4, 2014 Try selecting poi's on the steering wheel and check on the right side of the control panel the window same place where the efficiency leaves are located and see if you have better luck then I did.
larrylwill Report post Posted May 4, 2014 Why would I want to select POI's. I did that last night, I did every selection and everything worked except the HOME>
IraF Report post Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) Did you use the steering wheel control for poi'sFor the FFH 2013 there is a bug using the steering wheel control on the right hand side (same screen where the efficiency leaves appear), not the main 8 inch screen which works perfectly.Maybe you have a MKZ Hybrid which I understand does not have the FFH 2013 bug.See this same section - see Nav-InDash cluster does not work correctly, POI'SIf you have a FFH 2013 and selected POI's from the steering wheel and say selected Restaurants and it popped up the first time as well as selecting other POI's and also registering the FIRST TIME consider yourself lucky. larrylwill Report post Posted May 4, 2014 Mine is a 2014, besides Why are you continuing on POI's my problem is NOT POI's its HOME which is not a POI. Home is in previous destinations and is selectable. Yes its the right button cluster on the wheel.
IraF Report post Posted May 5, 2014 That is strange, because I have a FFH 2013 and everything on my right button works, home, favorites etc and they all work correctly except poi's
Waldo Report post Posted May 5, 2014 My 2014 "Home" does not work but my POIs do, just like larrylwill. It does work if I select "Home" after selecting "My Favorites".
