For less than $25 my FFH allowed me to travel over 300 miles to visit my son's family and see my 9 and 14 year old granddaughters surf near Oceanside pier on Christmas morning (where it was crystal clear and 75 degrees). Due to my Fusion, I see my distant family members more often and I'm in a better mood when I get there.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and that we all have the best New Year ever.

Happy holidays to all - I haven't been as active on the forum lately because my stepson and grandson were visiting from 12/17 until today and I haven't been online much. My stepson could not believe how far I could drive on a tankful of gas - and when I filled the tank for $35.00, he couldn't believe it!

I used to frequently take long lunches at the restaurant at the end of the Oceanside Pier. Great swordfish.

OK a sad news story for you.My car has not emerged from the rail car in Wayne Michigan. Sigh.

Perhaps Ford has decided to do some cold weather testing there? They sure should since it and a whole bunch of other cars are still sitting in the rail car.Since Dec 12 the by the way.

Dealer wrote me tonight and gave me the great news. Maybe it will be the first of the 2015s. That would be nice.

I wonder what issues will arise when they go to move these cars after sitting in the cold weather so long. Batteries dead? Frozen fuel lines?

Good morning everyone. Didn't get a good sleep last night thinking about the implications of what could happen after the car has sat so long. After it was built and loaded on the train we have what a three week rail journey? So perhaps the last time the car was started was mid November and here we are in January and the car has not moved.

 

With such diverse weather over the past weeks and Christmas holidays, it could be that the yard crew fell way behind. Freezing rain, holidays, then those who watched the NHL outdoor game between the Wings and my Leafs saw all that snow happening. So maybe it really is going to be very difficult to extract those cars.

 

I kept thinking about Katrina and those water logged cars. Here we have a whole bunch of cars that have sat for two months that have gone through freeze cycles and you have to wonder what affect that might have on the internals and especially the batteries. Will these cars be ok? I'm really not sure, but I do know that cold climates and long spells of inactivity are hard on any piece of equipment.

 

Sent a note off to Ashley looking for an update yesterday. Have not heard back from her, but the dealer sent me the current status report confirming it has not moved yet. What fun. :gaah: ;(

This is not something that is or can be under your control, and you haven't taken delivery of the car yet so if there was something really badly wrong with the car they would order another (we've had other users here have their cars damaged on arrival and had to order a replacement) and with a high build priority assigned when the regional/zone rep gets involved - but that's getting ahead of things a bit.

 

Back in January 1994 I had ordered a new Camaro (built somewhere in Quebec I believe) and it had been built and for 3 weeks the dealer said that all they knew was that it was "in transit" and nothing more (sound familiar?) -- and January 1994 we also had a quite a cold snap, and I was afraid something was wrong and expecting the worst. As it turned out, it took a month to get to the dealer, no clue where it sat for so long (on a rail car in the cold somehere), but when it got to me it was fine.

 

So yeah it sucks to wait for so long and without knowing what's up, however getting the proper Ford POCs involved should help track it down.

As long as the doors are closed and windows up, the car will be fine. The 12V may be low from sitting, but after a quick charge and some running the car will be OK. I have had cars sit for a year and start up fine after putting a charger on the battery.

Okay I'm not going to hold my breath or anything, but our friendly service advisor person wrote me a few minutes ago to tell me the car was supposed to be shipped yesterday. I'm hoping her info is correct and that the info the dealer got was stale dated. It's the old she said/he said thing and I want the she said to be right. I just can't stand having all you folks having all the fun while I sit here and read of your adventures. :thumbsup:

Mine has been sitting for the last two months and turned right on last week when a friend tried. The conditions should be similar rail car or garage temps should be the same. Your car also has all it's protective gear for the journey so it should be protected very well.

I'm sorry to dump on everyone again, but here we are now January 13th 2014 and the status of my car has not changed. According to the last update in the system, it is still sitting in that dang rail car.

 

Ashley has been checking, the dealer has been checking and nothing has happened. Ashley sent a note to her contact this morning and this afternoon the dealer sent a note off to someone he knows at Ford also asking for an update. Nothing.

 

I'm getting a little frustrated, only because the car has been built, railed and sitting there for delivery and it isn't happening. And there is nothing I can do. I suppose I could get my dealer to go and look for another vehicle that has been delivered and in stock and go from there. Ford, get with it please and see what you can do. I'll hold off until the end of the week and see what's up, but I think I should also have the dealer look at what else is out there. ;(

Still no news. Nothing, zip, nada. Ashley has asked and I appreciate her efforts, but she isn't getting any answers - yet.
