Ford Fusion is a different car in India

I'm traveling in Bangalore, India this week. When I shared that I just purchased a FFH, they gave me blank stares. Upon a little investigating, I see why. In India, the FF isn't what we're used to:

 

 

Lolwut? That looks nothing like our car. It looks like a stretched Honda CRV! No wonder I got blank stares.

 

... and the Indian Ford Fusion was discontinued in 2012...

I got the same response here in Europe. The Fusion name is/was used for the same car which is now also discontinued. I think there was a grace period where they called it Fusion C-Max or something like this.

 

Isn't it kinda funny how they use the same name for totally different cars.

Good memory, Waldo! I like the name Fusion much better than Futura!

In Europe you just have to tell them that you have a Modeo Hybrid. And then, they'll all look at you funny for getting a hybrid instead of a diesel lol

That will be interesting when our Fusion will arrive as Mondeo in Europe and also as hybrid model.

In terms of hybrid technology acceptance the US customers are at least 5 years ahead. I may have seen a handful Prius over here where I can see more just driving thru town at home.

If they had the fusion diesel here I bet you alot of people here would jump ship. The MPG in the city is around the same, the highway is better. Instant torque like the hybrid. Just no sneaking around.

I wish the European wagon version was available here. Maybe it will be in the future. Even Mercedes is still making wagons that are for sale here.

It really depends what your city/highway driving mix is. Diesels don't come close to the stop-and-go city mileage of hybrids. On the open road or longer trips, they become much more advantageous and are often a better choice than a hybrid. With a 10 mile commute that rarely sees the freeway, a diesel would never pay off for me.

I think it would be a toss up for me between diesel and the Hybrid. I dont do a lot of city driving, but I also dont do a lot of freeway driving. Majority of my driving is right at 55 MPH. Neither would be exceptional at that speed. The Hybrid would champion with 45 MPH, and the diesel at 65 MPH.
