I haven't been to the Dealer in 2 months!!

My FFH has almost 16k miles on it now and I was thinking forward to the next oil/filter change.

I'll have the cabin air filter changed then when I go in for that (I have the replacement CAF, from Rock Auto).

 

That's when it dawned on me that the last time I was at the Dealer was over two months ago!

No gear selector knob's, DRL's, gas tank modules, weird Dash Display alerts, MFT updates, spare tire fact finding, HVB assessments, PCM updates, etc, etc. - no nothing for two months.

 

I've been missing out on the free rental cars and free lunches - doggone it.

I sorta miss the place, I suppose I can live like this for a while longer.

I think they can live without me too.... ;)

LOL I was thinking the same thing, trying to find some reason to stop in. Haven't had one. Shoot having more issues just trying to get my new phone to work than anything car related, and not much the dealer can do about that, its just how the phone works, er should say DOESN'T work.

Kinda I bought one of those solar charging panels acdii suggested a while ago and I actually kept it connected. I moved it to side window since the light will be coming from that side in the garage.

 

It will be interesting to see if she turns on once I'm back.

 

It won't turn into a site-seeing trip too much work to do plus traveling with dog and a two year old gets tricky.

I had about a 12"x 9" solar charger on my travel trailer for all the time it sat, both batteries were always charged.

 

A two year old and a dog, I remember those.

My youngest grandchild (of 13) is 2 right now and my talking dog died 50 years ago, I bought him for $10.

My folks and I (11/y/o) were driving around Oregon and I saw a sign in front of a house: "Talking Dog For Sale."

I made my Dad stop and ring the doorbell to ask about the dog.

The owner told him the dog was in the backyard and to go take a look.

 

We went into the backyard and there was a scruffy dog sitting under a tree.

"You talk?" my Dad asks.

"Yep," the dog replies.

"So, what's your story?"

 

The dog looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young.

I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.

I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running."

 

"But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down.

I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security wandering near suspicious characters and listening in.

I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired."

 

My Dad and I were amazed. We went back to the front door, the owner was still standing there.

My Dad asked the owner how much he wanted for the dog.

"Ten dollars," the guy says.

"Ten dollars? The dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?"

 

"Because he's a damn liar. He never did any of that stuff."

 

... and that was how I got my first, and last, dog.

I wish I could stay away from the dealer. I haven't been in about 2 months either, but not because everything is working. It's because I'm waiting for parts so they can fix our car and they don't bother to call to let me know when the parts arrive.

On the original topic, other than my oil change at 10K miles and the software update, I have only had my FFH to the dealership for one issue (power windows auto-up/down malfunction), which they were unable to correct.

Wow, I hadn't heard about that - would you post a link to it? This has been the one flaw with my car almost from day one, but each time I bring it in, the tech "cannot duplicate the problem", so it's still not fixed.

Well, my nail turned into 2 tires.. 3700 miles in :\

 

was $275 to get that one tire replaced with the oem tire. ended up paying $275 for 2 brand new nittos and $55 to install em. Since the tires i picked up tax free i basicly came out the same and got a extra tire now.

Is there a site that provides TSBs as they are issued? I only know about them if Ford lets me know, or if one of you on the forum posts info about it.

My local public library has a subscription to AllData, an automotive garage reference publication. They get the TSBs within 3 or 4 days of publication.

You can search by your vin to see what shows up on your car itself for TSB but i forgot the website. If it doesnt apply to your build date tho you wont ever know.

We seem to be at the same point with our FFHs. Mine is also just over 16K miles and it has been maybe three months since I was last in and it was to replace the gearshift knob. For a while there, it felt like the dealership was becoming a second home for my FFH. Hopefully I can avoid any dealer visits until I roll over to 20K and I'm hoping that won't be until February when my annual inspection is due. However, I have a feeling I'll roll over 20K before then.

Mine seems to be working fine these days. When I bought it I knew the coming year was going to be busy, with lots of driving involved.

Some extra driving was added because of, mmmm, let's say - fine tuning this car.

Hopefully the 20k mile service is months away.
