Woohoo! 2014 Fusion Hybrid!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, great forum!

Just picked up a 2014 Fusion Titanium Hybrid on Friday. We didn't want to order and wait so we got one with more options than we needed.. in particular parking assist. Does anyone actually use that? Doesn't seem safe to me but I guess if its an available option people do use it. Anyhow, love the car can't wait to start on mods!

Hi s-one welcome to this great forum and congrats on your purchase.

I think there a few people here that have actually used APA and were stunned by the result. You should try it some time maybe you get hooked. ;-)

Congrats and good luck! Each time anyone mentions Park Assist, I just keep thinking back to my road test for my drivers license - What I would give to be able to have used this! HAHA! But I did pass the first time - and that was driving my Dad's 1966 Dodge Coronet 440 without power steering!

Congrats! The Park Assist works really well. Had it in my 2010 Flex, used it once, and it worked perfectly. I had it in another another car, but never used it, have it in my 13 Flex, so if I even need to use it, I have it.

BTW, saw a 14 today in that new Sunset color, wow, I like it, looks awesome with Polarized sunglasses. It had black rims too.

Thanks acdii. Haven't seen that one yet. So far we are loving it!

I haven't bought a car from a dealer in so many years - before the technology age of cars.. and when the sales guy told us they had a specialist who goes over the technological stuff I literally started laughing. I asked to him: "You actually have a person that's paid to only do just that?" He said yep.. spent time with techno guy and low-and-behold, I was instantly overwhelmed. About the parking assist, I actually thought it was just a voice that told you something like "found an empty spot to park so many # miles ahead". I didn't know it turned your wheel. sheesh!

A note for you on parking assist. If you park next to a high curb. The car will park itself so close that the bottom of your door gets bashed if you have a passenger.

Just something to think about with it.

Congrats and welcome! I don't use the part assist since there are zero, zip, zilch places to parallel park around my neck of the woods. ;)

Edit: Oops! Forgot about in front of the court house downtown, but I try to avoid that place like the plague!

The car will park at the prerequisite 4" from the curb. Every time. Amazing. From what I heard, best park assist from any car manufacturer.

The hard part is remembering to keep your hands off of the steering wheel.

If it detects any input from the steering wheel it aborts the process and tells you to read the manual.

Back in the early days of the automobile when I first started driving I owned a 1965 Pontiac Tempest with no options. It had manual steering, manual brakes and an AM radio. You had to be in good shape and mighty strong to drive that car. Parallel parking would turn you into a body builder. I don't know how many people realize how hard it is to drive a car without today's amenities. Ah, the good old days. Have to go now. Have to chase some kids off my lawn..

Yaint nuttin like a 1967 Chevy C30 with a 3 on the tree, straight 6 292, manual steering, manual DRUM brakes and 18.5" split rims. Yeah, you have to be rolling to turn that steering wheel.

New 2013 Job 3 C-Maxes are missing the Lifetime Summary when turning the car off. Does your 2014 FFH still show both the Trip Summary and Lifetime Summary when you turn the car off?

I learned to drive with a 66 Mustang 2+2 3 on the floor. No power anything, but you didn't need it! No AC either.
