corncobs Report post Posted August 30, 2013 Why stop with headlights, I want LED everything. Oh and LED "eyebrow" daytime running lights. I think the FFH would look wicked cool with LED "eyebrows"! LED everything is an option I would have happily paid extra for.The European Fusion headlight looks really really cool I would like those as standard here as well. LED everything is an option I would have happily paid extra for.LEDs are cool and supposed to last "longer than the car" but the price of replacing them it extremely high. The LED tail light on my 10 Merc Milan HY is all on part, not designed to be repaired or have the bulbs replaced. It was replaced under warranty, but the service writer told me the part was over $400 from Ford. Now I know why I see so many cars with LEDs out. Once you are out of warranty, you start to appriciate the lowly 1157 replacement bulb from the discount parts house. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
ruralvoice Report post Posted September 18, 2013 I would like the addition of daytime running lights and a return to the 17.5 gallon fuel tank. Also, the ability to control whether a 12 volt (lighter style) power receptacle remains on or off when the ignition is off (and at least two of these independent of each other--so they can be set differently). Those are my wishes...... 1 hybridbear reacted to this
jeffo65 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 I would like the following: - AppLink added to MFT. - A subwoofer would be nice for the stereo.- Being able to have multiple phones connected through SYNC. So either my phone or my wife's can be used through the car. - Daytime running lights would be nice, but I don't need them. Otherwise I cannot think of anything else that I would need. 2 majorleeslow and hybridbear reacted to this

milleron Report post Posted September 18, 2013 I've been one of the early proponents of DRLs. Now that I learn I can have them activated, I have second thoughts. How much drain will they place on the HVB?
acdii Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Minimal, the accessories graph shows about the same draw as before they were activated. They draw far less than if you turn the lights on since you only have 2 bulbs at reduced voltage instead of all the lights going.

hybridbear Report post Posted September 18, 2013 How do you guys turn on the accessories graph, or are you referring to the scan gauge II data? We're talking about the graph on MyView that shows the accessories power draw and climate (AC) power draw I've been one of the early proponents of DRLs. Now that I learn I can have them activated, I have second thoughts. How much drain will they place on the HVB?In the ScanGauge thread I commented about the power draw of the lights. Based on the fact that park lights and headlights draw the same current as park lights and headlights it's safe to assume that the headlights draw about the same current as the park lights. The increased draw of park lights, headlights and fog lights as compared to the draw of park lights and fog lights is about 0.15 amps. This translates to ~43 watts. That's a pretty minimal power draw. DRLs might be turned on at reduced power and not the full brightness of the headlights which would mean that their power draw is even less. I'm unsure as my dealer told me they turned on my DRLs but when I picked the car up I discovered that there are still no DRLs...

hybridbear Report post Posted September 19, 2013 I can't find this on my FFH. How do you get to it?Right below the tachometer when changing the left side of your MyView. It can also be on the right, but I've never put it there. I always keep the coolant temp on the right. Sorry I don't have a pic... 1 MaineFusion reacted to this

One bulb draw ~50 watts, DRL are at half power, so both on would be ~50 watts. Also the DRL are on only when in gear.

Too bad I can't replace the leaves with a customized MyView and leave the left side on something else. I'll have to play with the MyView to figure out how I want to customize it. kbailey990 Report post Posted September 19, 2013 I agree that every light bulb has an MPG cost, but IIHS review shows that DRL provides too much of a safety benefit to be lumped in with the "power drain" category. I have an appointment Friday to have mine turned on. Thanks Gry Sql for showing that DRL can be turned on.

I'm planning on doing it shortly, but I'm afraid if I do it at an independent, it will void the warranty.

If this were true, we couldn't install aftermarket remote car starts. They might not warrentee problems caused by the modifications so you have to be selective how and where you install them. For instance, I'm not keen on splicing into the windshield wiper wiring as suggested above. I'd much prefer to hook directly into a spare fuse slot in the fuse box so that I don't compromise other systems. I'm also not opening up the lights themselves. BTW: I'm having someone I know who has a detailing and aftermarket modification shop do it.

BTW: I'm having someone I know who has a detailing and aftermarket modification shop do it.When I was purchasing the car, I asked the salesman about having the DRLs installed, and he advised me that he checked with the service department, and they said that they didn't want to do it because previous customers who did other installations had electrical problems. Of course, now that I think about it, I have had nothing but problems with their service department, and I am now taking my car elsewhere for service, so maybe his statement was based on lack of knowledge on the part of the service tech. When I asked if he could recommend someone to do it outside of their shop, he told me that this would void the warranty against any electrical issues that might come up later on.I am going to check with the new dealer that I am using for service now. I'd prefer to pay a little more and have Ford do everything on the car, just to make sure that whoever does the installation knows how to install them on a hybrid. Thanks for your input - good info that you provided, I appreciate it! 2 MaineFusion and hybridbear reacted to this
MaineFusion Report post Posted September 20, 2013 Ideally, we should probably tie such things into a spare fuse slot, assuming the fuse slot gets turned off when the ignition is off. I don't know enough about the system to know if the spare fuse slots are still powered when the car is turned off.
