djminfll Report post Posted July 19, 2013 I obviously won't make it on this tank, :banghead: but I think I will fill-up on Saturday morning and get some good miles put on over the weekend, so I can try for 500 miles this time around.
corncobs Report post Posted July 19, 2013 The red light of doom freaked me out but I was determined to make it. It seems like I could of made it another 100 miles and tried for the 600 mile club. I never try to pump more after the first click but I just couldn't believe that it only put in a little over 11 gallons. So I guess the red light of doom comes on when there is about 2 gallons left.Fill up's are one of those strange things with the FFH. I would at least try to put as much fuel back as the dash indicates. It might be just a very sensitive nozzle shutting off very early. I had the same issue before and you really have to force fuel into the car. Anyway it's not the right thread for this discussion this has been discussed already. FusionRose Report post Posted August 26, 2013 Still working on getting up to 600. I could most likely do it if I pushed it to empty since I only put 11.5 in the tank. The yellow light had just came on but since DH has the car this week I went ahead and filled the tank. 1 jeff_h reacted to this

shaggy314 Report post Posted September 9, 2013 Yup, no fair if it's in an Energi! Are you all getting close to 108 equivalent MPG like's being advertised? 3855... 3/8 of tank #2 left. My lifetime is roughly 90 MPGe. It really depends on my driving. Just home-work-home easy enough as I charge at both ends to get nearly 100% battery the whole day. Once I start using gas, it's around the 43 predicted, although I've seen some 50+ trips. It really tries hard to use the battery. I'm very interested to see how the hybrid "only" does at running on battery. Does it charge it up full and then drain or ranges between 75% and 25% charge on the battery? Do you get the EV+ option close to home?
Skydogz Report post Posted October 6, 2013 I made it with the 3rd tank since it was in town and I was not afraid to get to low on the interstate.
Ted Swing Report post Posted October 17, 2013 I got my 2014 FFH last Monday. I was inspired by FusionRose's first tank performance and wanted to see if I could do it, too. I finished my first tank tonight (10 mi to E): 3 corncobs, FusionRose and acdii reacted to this
corncobs Report post Posted October 17, 2013 Congrats Ted very nice fir the first tank! Now here is a question for discussion. Look at Ted's & Skydogz posting! 6 MPG less with more percentual EV miles. It's pretty much the same time frame and miles. Why is there some much difference? It's pretty much the same time frame and miles. Why is there some much difference?Terrain? Right foot? Wind? AC use? Too many variables to contend with. Still shows however how inaccurate the trip summary is, Ted shows 47.3 and actual is 44.7. Same with mine, lifetime shows 44.2 but actual is 42.7. corncobs Report post Posted October 17, 2013 Sure all these factors are possible. I think a big part is also how well (slow) you accelerate. As long the arrow is pointing up is good and you get the most out of the ICE. A little bit more and the E-Motor kicks in helping out discharging the HVB. Now it needs to recharge this amount as well. The computer is really sensitive while acceleration and even the smallest toe movement (acdii's words) can change the HVB arrows from up to down. 1 GrySql reacted to this
dmt1971 Report post Posted October 18, 2013 I finally joined this illustrious club after over 8,000 miles. Hopefully the mileage will continue to improve as the car matures! It also does not hurt that I used our Safeway Rewards credits to bring the fill up down by a full dollar a gallon to $2.45 a gallon!
thavil Report post Posted October 18, 2013 Congrats dmt1971! One of these days, you may even join the 600 mile club depending on your commute. I also use my Safeway rewards for cheaper gas here in Maryland.
halfelite Report post Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) I finally joined the 500 mile club. But how in the heck are all you getting 11.5-12.5 Gallons out of it. I had to do min in under 11. When I pulled into the gas station the gas light had turned red. I can only ever get a max of 10.8 gallons at each fill up. Am i leaving behind 1-2 gallons? KLH Report post Posted November 5, 2013 I'm in the club after: * Running the car to near 0 DTE* (Over) Filling the car to 12.5 gallons measured at the pump* Running the car down to about 20m DTE I should have taken a picture, but I didn't. Now that the temperature is dropping rapidly in the Boston area, I probably won't get back into the 500m Club until April 2014... 1 jeff_h reacted to this
djminfll Report post Posted November 5, 2013 I went 513 miles on this tankful, the low fuel light went on yesterday, and when I went to pump gas, the computer stated I had 38 miles to empty. However, the dash computer told me I had only used 10.5 gallons, and had achieved 48.9mpg. When I actually filled the tank, I actually pumped 12.6 gallons, which gave me the lowest fill-up I've had since the software update. I only achieved 40.7mpg in actuality. I wish I knew what caused this huge discrepancy between what the computer told me I achieved and what I actually achieved. This was very disappointing, especially considering that the weather has been beautiful for the past week and I hardly used AC on this tankful. 1 corncobs reacted to this
LEM Report post Posted June 3, 2014 I didn't post the pictures but I joined the club at the end of April! :happy feet:After one year and in my experience, I think what really affects the mileage the most (assuming you are driving carefully) is the temperature. Using the heater/AC or not.I got better mileage before it started getting hot here and before it got too cold. In both cases I wasn't using the climate control. 3 djminfll, corncobs and hybridbear reacted to this

Ron46143 Report post Posted June 10, 2014 Just picked up my 2014 FFH last Thursday and I'm on track to get 500+ miles on my first tank. So far I have 396.5 miles on it with 142 DTE. I just hope the durability of this car is as good as the MPG it gets. So far I couldn't be happier with it.
jeffo65 Report post Posted June 10, 2014 I guess I need to have a phone or camera with me when we fill up next time. Our last three tanks have been after 500 (532, 533, 505) miles. So, we have unofficially been members for awhile. Just not official since I have not taken any pictures.
acdii Report post Posted June 11, 2014 I'm a little bummed. I was on my way to a really good tank, was sitting at 49 MPG, then it rained today, and I only managed to get 42 MPG. So much for that tank.

Pghpete Report post Posted June 17, 2014 Greetings all. With your permission, I'd like to join the prestigious 500 mile club. What I'm particularly pleased about is that I was able to accomplish the feat on my first tank of gas. My current DTE shows 38 miles, and while I can squeeze a few more miles out of the tank I won't make 600, which is my next goal. Thanks to everyone for their tips about the "2-bar acceleration", the maximum use of cruise control, and the benefits of coasting/regenerative braking. I can't wait for the departure of this Phoenix heat and for the car to get broken in, because a 600 mile tank is in my crosshairs. 2 hybridbear and acdii reacted to this
