murphy Report post Posted September 22, 2013 Part of the procedure is to turn off the recirculation button. Push max A/C button.Push A/C buttonPush recirculate buttonSet desired fan speed. All of this can be done in a few seconds without using the touch screen. 1 Jim Deneault reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted September 25, 2013 In the morning recently, the windows fog, so I have climate on the MFT, have the dash vents selected, then when the window fogs, touch defrost, the vents stay active, when the windows clear I touch defrost again and the AC turns off. Kaleido Report post Posted September 28, 2013 The temp going to LO automatically is actually an advantage sometimes. If the outside temperature is less than the car temperature setting then the heater kicks in. That annoys me as well. It happened to me yesterday. The outside temp was finally a nice 60 something. I wanted just to get some outside air vented into the car. I did the touch screen approach. After a while I put my hand by the vent and the air felt quite warm. My temp was set to 72. To get non-heated air I had to press the temp - a bunch of times until it was less than the outside temp.So this means that you were getting heated air at 72 and the air was from the outside. Now by pressing the temp button several times and making it lower than 60, (the outside temp), you were able to get non-heated outside air. But didn't this lowering the temp make the A/C kick on? Or doesn't that do it by itself, you actually have to push the A/C button to engage the compressor. I always freaked out when I saw the temp setting on LO, because I thought that automatically meant the A/C was on at the lowest setting. But I guess it doesn't matter that LO is displayed as long as the A/C light is out. I thought the LO display should say OFF. I always thought to look at the display screen to see the CLIMATE and OTHER reading displayed, and as long as CLIMATE is not lit up the A/C is off, at least that is what I thought, but I got confused with the LO temp display and thought the A/C was on because of that. Now I get it! What the Hell is OTHER always lit up for? I don't have any OTHER accessories running that I know of, no radio, lights, or anything. Former Expedition owner Report post Posted April 15, 2014 Confirmed with @FordService on Twitter that there is no way to have a "vent" setting with MFT. (unless you roll down the windows...as @FordService states) 2 acdii and corncobs reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted April 15, 2014 Welll DUHLOL Roll down a window. GROAN. The one bad thing about fully computer controlled stuff, you can't do what you used to in older cars. I have found a nice way to vent the car though, vent the sunroof, and crack the back windows a 1/4". Cools off the car inside nicely and lets fresh air in that doesnt first come from the engine compartment, one of my pet peeves on older cars, warm stinky air from under the hood. 2 Jim Deneault and hybridbear reacted to this
Riggo Report post Posted April 15, 2014 This is a shot in the dark and I know I sound like a complete idiot  since I have no clue about all of the inner workings of the hvac systems in this and older cars. BUT... If the Fusion isn't able to vent fresh air from the outside (without the fan on), could this be part of the problem that people are having with the moldy, stinky sock smell? 3 corncobs, hybridbear and acdii reacted to this
Waldo Report post Posted April 16, 2014 This logic is no different than what Ford has been using for 20+ years. My dad's 1993 Taurus with EATC would close the recirc door when the climate system was turned off. My wife's 2007 Mariner with full manual climate controls also closes the recirc door when off. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted April 16, 2014 The F350 would try to close it but since it was a diesel, the vacuum would go away and the door would open. Never had mold build up in it either, and that bugger had some really cold AC, with a lot of moisture coming out. Every time I started it up, I would hear a SLAM as the door closed. GrySql Report post Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) We're retired and this is our only travel car so my domestic goddess wife has appropriated the HVAC because she has a medical condition with her feet, I think she's doing a good job. In cooler weather, using the MFT Climate screen, my wife sets the temp to Lo on both sides, touches the face and foot vent buttons and de-selects the A/C touch button. The A/C goes off and we get outside air at ambient temperature. With the Climate set this way she also uses the Recirc button when we get behind a stinky diesel truck, without the A/C coming on. I don't pay much attention but she is good at making the Climate HVAC Beast do what she wants - as do I.
