My average speed will be much lower than 30 MPH since we almost never drive on the highway now. We're at 600+ miles of our 1000 now with the current progress showing 53.7 and about 70% EV miles

I was hoping to get 55 MPG over 1000 miles but it's been hard to get my average to climb now since I'm so far in to the 1000. The current tank of gas is over 400 miles and just a hair over 7 gallons used for a current tank average of 55.4 MPG. I'm hoping I can keep this tank at 55 MPG.

Thanks everyone for being a part of this!

Lets see if we can find a direct correlation between average speed and average MPG after 1000 miles; this should provide a very good overview for real world driving; forget about EPA we do our own investigation.

With my current tank I'm @ 49.1 MPG with 350 miles with 11h30min = 30.5 MPH.

Yeah but if you ever leave your key on when you're not in the car this time counts when you're not even driving . I leave my key on when I drop off and pick up my daughter so I still have one trip total when I get to work. Or like today when I was in Walmart for 20 minutes with my wife in the car.

Great idea! As we get more results we can start calculating this

This is where a ScanGauge will come in real handy, it records that information for you and saves it as current, day and tank.

I completed the first leg of the 1000 mile challenge.

It has been pretty windy here especially driving home the last 3 days so my average dropped a bit; I'm still more than happy if I keep this average.

Really? Haven't noticed the wind.

Not sure if you are joking but the stretch between Palatine to Fox River Grove as been against the wind for at least two days.

But like I said I'm the last that should complain.

It's been windy for sure, have not been able to fly because of it. It just hasnt had any negative affect on the MPG's in either car.

Fantastic! And who says the EPA rating is not accurate!!

You managed over 48 MPG with only 40.76% EV miles and an average speed around 41-42 MPH. That's impressive for having quite a few highway miles :)

well i added my return trip miles from FL to NYC and it came out to

1102.6 miles, 25.9 gallons, 73.1 EV miles = 42.5 mpg (i believe somebody correct me if im wrong)

later tonight i will post up the entire trip 2 which has the trip down, the time driving around there, and drive back home

Very awesome! And a 41 MPH average. That's the highest speed I've seen on here for such a great mileage.

You got a great highway car!

Finally crossed the 1000 mile mark!

54.1 MPG displayed, I calculate 54.17 based on the gallons used. 70.12% EV miles! And a new record low speed over those 1000 miles of...

17.52 MPH!!

Congrats on your challenge completion; that's for sure an awesome result.

I have a few hundred miles to go on my challenge not sure if I will be able to crack 48 MPG.

That's awesome mpg! But i have to wonder; at 17 mph did you drive it on the golf course the whole 1000 miles. ;)

Hahaha I think this really shows the benefits of taking the city route more often

Not sure if I already qualify to have my 1000 mile challenge completed but I didn't feel like drive another 6 miles with no reason except that I could be driving my FFH for a little longer.

Comes out to be an average of 30 MPH just as expected. I didn't quite reach my 48 MPG goal but I'm still a happy camper.

Beats EPA, Congrats!

That was my personal must have goal but even with 45 MPG I wouldn't complain. This car is way to relaxing to worry about 2 or even 3 MPG but that's my personal opinion.

Haha thanks, but it wasn't supposed to be a competition, just a place to share and find joy in our longer term fuel economy
