For those with poor MPG like mine

My current guess is the battery pack. I spent 4000 miles in less than 2 weeks driving the car watching the gauges, and it seemed that the battery charge/discharge thing was not as efficient as it should be. Just guessing based on observations.

Same here, thinking along those same lines. When in the warmer temps it really didn't make much difference either. I know cold does affect the packs a little, but once they have been through a few cycles, then it shouldnt matter. Still a few weeks away from seeing high 60's or even 70's, but once we do get one, and if the car hasnt sold, I will see if it made any difference.

I want to focus in the ICE specifically. I'm a short-hop driver on local streets, maybe 3.5 miles to work and back, with one way downhill and the reverse uphill - no highways. Downhill MPG is mid 40's mpg, but the uphill reverse is in the mid-20's.

 

I notice that when the ICE is running (charging the EV, perhaps), and I'm cruising at 40 mph, the MPG is at the 20 line in Empower or Enlighten. However, on highways over 65 MPH, the MPG is much better, maybe 10 mpg higher.

 

Is that what others are seeing? The FFH ICE prefers higher speeds, but not lower ones?

Give it some time. Mine started out just like yours. After 2600 miles the MPG slowly increased. Now at 41.7 average per tank. That's not bad.
