This could be the problem? This is after getting to Crystal Lake from my house where I was doing between 45 and 60 with at least 95% of it on ICE. That is about a 25 mile trip. Gets better, by the time I got to work, it dropped even lower.

What about taking it for warranty service for insufficient heat, which should mean that the dealer would justifiably inspect/replace the thermostat or controlling components... has the dealer considered that already?

Sent my dealer an email with these pics, and hoping to arrange a loaner Fusion while they repair it. Seems like everytime I have the car in for repair I am without a car for 2-3 days. This is the reason I haven't had it in the shop every week, need a car.

Got a call from my service manager, they want the car next Tuesday night, a Ford Engineer is coming out Wednesday to work on my car. Finally! With the data I collected, and photos of the water temps, they will have a very hard time telling me nothing is wrong with the car!

I know I would be delighted if the cooling system is the root of the problem. I'm not so sure I would be so happy to find out that a basic system "screwup" had put me through so much grief with what should have been an "always grinning experience".

Beats where he is now with the car ... no one has been happy with where he is.

No worries, brother. You're living it ... and I don't think your dealer, Ford or anyone has been happy with your car's performance.

I'm hoping the problem (whatever it is) is solved soon.

They haven't given you a loaner?!? I can't believe that. Anytime the dealer has needed our car overnight we've been offered a rental from Enterprise. I've even tried to plan our drop offs to be late in the day so that they will have to give us a loaner instead of dropping off in morning and having to get a shuttle ride back and forth to the dealer. Since we only have the one car it makes it really hard to have it in for service and not get a loaner.

I got a loaner, they gave me a focus for a day. I got better MPG in it than the Fusion. retarded. Going to head over to another dealer after work tomorrow and give a car built in december a drive, curious to see if it can do what that Cmax did, and if it does, then will see if I can do a deal with my dealer to get a replacement for this one. There really arent many choices in this price range to get a Hybrid with the same options the Ford has. The Avalon is nice, but thats nearly $700 a month! Thats more than I was paying for the F150.

Have you always been going to the same dealer for these service issues? Maybe you could try bringing the car to a different dealer next time and tell them that at such-and-such dealer they haven't been able to figure it out but that you know something is wrong. Maybe find a dealer than has another Fusion on the lot so that you could take a technician for a drive in yours and then in the other Fusion to see if there is a measurable difference. The tech could even bring along his computer to plug in to each vehicle and compare how they're performing while you drive the same route in the same manner.

Some of your issues could just be a dealer thing, where the dealer you're visiting doesn't know what's wrong so they try to say it's normal...

You drove a C-Max to compare? How did it do?

The C-Max was the first one I drove when we were looking at the Fusion, Camry Hybrid and C-Max. I drove the first C-Max to arrive in MN, in a short drive I managed about 42 MPG. I was quite happy with that as I didn't yet know anything about the Ford powertrain to get good gas mileage out of it. When we test drove a Fusion overnight before ordering ours we averaged 46.5 MPG. That was about 75 highway miles (the dealer was way out in the country) and 25 city miles. If that Fusion could do 46.5 brand new, not broken in back in October when the temps were in the 50s, I fully expect our car will hit 50 MPG in the summer now that it is broken in.

Going to another dealer after work to test drive one they have that was built in December, and will compare. It I can get upwards of 40 without any special techniques, that will convince me that mine is not right. When I test drove both the Camry and Avalon, I got 40 in both on a 30 minute mixed test drive each. I really cant be that hard to get good MPG if everybody else can do it.

I had test driven a Cmax the day I got the Fusion, and got 38 in it, it was a cold windy day too. I got about 33 in the Fusion, and had I paid more attention to that, I may not have purchased it.

Tonights test drive will determine whether or not I keep this car. Toyota has it where I can get a loaded Camry for $500 under Invoice, and a low rate, so its very tempting. It isn't as nice as the Fusion, and doesn't handle or ride as well, but it sure is a lot easier to get 41 MPG out of it.

$500 under invoice??!? Wow!! They must be really hurting to sell Camry Hybrids since the Fusion came out. When we were shopping back in October we might have bought the Camry if not for the high prices. Back then in Mpls all the dealers wanted at the lowest $800 under MSRP, most weren't even willing to give you $500 off MSRP. In contrast, ordering our Fusion from the factory we got it at dealer invoice.

Other than no adaptive cruise and park assist, the Camry has everything the Fusion has to offer for less, and it does get the EPA ratings without having to super P&G. I took another 2013 for a drive last night, but traffic was too slow, and I didnt get the OK to take it for a longer trip at 55 MPH, but did note that the instant MPG is about the same as mine, but slightly easier to get it to 40. It was built in December. Still not convinced that mine is OK, especially when guys like you are seeing 43 in this weather.

Next week is after the Chicago Auto show, so there will be some deals about on cars. I really do like the Fusion, it handles much better than the Camry, but to get to 40 MPG in mine, having to drive it like I videod to get there, with the family in the car, just too dangerous IMO. So do I live with being 13 under EPA, or bite the bullet and dump it for a Camry.

Do you think the new Camry Hybrid will be better than the concerns you had with your old Camry Hybrid?

Oh it is a far better car than the 09 one was. The salesman even agreed quality had fallen quite a bit back then, and Toyota had noticed. The 12-13 model is spot on what I expected the 09 to be, which it wasn't. The car is solid, quiet, material quality much nicer. The stereo in the non JBL equipped one is a far better sounding system than in the Fusion non Sony one. The Nav, and other voice commanded items work a lot better then the Ford MFT. I can see why others have chosen Camry over Fusion in the past 2 years, and except for a few far better toys in the Fusion, it is definitely a hard contender against Ford. If the MPG claims from Ford dont hold up, they will lose a lot of sales to Toyota.

That being said

He went with a gas Fusion Ti.

Yes I did, the Fusion is still a nicer car over all compared to Camry. Since I did not want to go backwards, I decided to get what we really can put to good use, and forego the better MPG. We have the 2010 FFH for daily driving, and we are quite happy with it, but it cant pull a trailer and both Hybrids have too small a trunk. The EB Ti has a larger trunk, can tow 2000 pounds, and has the better stereo. The back seat is also roomier than Camry and Mazda, which is a requirement for our trips to MN and FL.

I am in the lame gas mileage boat also. Can't get to 40 even on long cruises. 33 is about the best average for mine. I drive like a grandma too. The dealer says wait until its broken in. Most owners get 40+ right off the lot. Not my baby. Dissapointed is an understatement. Love the car but the mileage.

I have been contacted by someone, not going to go into details, but I need to hang onto this car for at least a year or so until such time and something gets settled, but my chance to give Ford what they have coming.
