"OK to Buy" Status for Fusion Hybrid Titanium

Recommended Posts

I originally ordered a Fusion SE Hybrid that came in damaged and was required to reorder in October. I decided to order the newly announced Fusion Hybrid Titanium.

I'm still waiting for production information; however, I believe JOB2 is scheduled to begin on 1/7/2013. Just spoke with my Dealer and he informed me that my order would have to wait for OK TO BUY status from Ford Motor Company. Evidently, Ford builds all general stock units first, then turns attention to factory orders. I had not heard that previously.

Does anyone have an estimate on how long it requires from the start of JOB2 to the OK TO BUY date?

great question...

What kind of options are you getting with your Ti?

If they sell it, it's on my Ti :shift:

My dealer surprised me yesterday and re-ordered my car as a stock order. I guess they're testing our your theory with my car :) I now have 2 orders and will get the one that gets here first. The retail one was ordered on November 19th '12 and the stock one this week. The race is on!

My dealer did the same with my SE Hybrid order (although I don't know that it was intentional)... mine was built 4 days prior, but got to the dealer 4 days later, so I guess the stock order took priority on the rail shipping... or just happened to be one that the ramp worker jumped in, heck if I know.

It's not a theory; it's a fact. My first order was as a stock unit. Good luck!

How did you guys get your orders in? I've gone to 2 dealerships and both say they can't place an order yet. The longer I have to wait for this the more tempting an SE or different car gets.

They just ordered with no issues. They looked in the invemtory to see if what I wanted was out there somewhere. When they couldnt find what i wanted they just placed an order.....after we agreed on price.

I would try somewhere else. Sounds like its more of a case of them just it wanting to do it. Maybe a bigger dealer.

Order what???

If you are talking about Hybrid Titanium's they have been able to be ordered since October 28, lots of us have them on order. The build date starts Feb 4.

Look at all the posts on blue ovals forums and on this forum.

Yes, the Hybrid Titanium. I told both dealerships about others ordering and mentioned both forums actually. They still came back and told me they can't order yet (saying they called some factory rep). Sigh. I guess I'll have to the other dealers in the Bay Area. I just didn't want to get put in to everyone's system... too many e-mails and such.

There's no secret -- just order it. Mine was ordered normally after the ORDER BANKS opened up, just as with any other vehicle from Ford. Better check your dealership experience. I'd contact Ford Customer Care and ask why you are unable to place an order at your local Ford dealership when everyone else has already done so.

What posts, cwb?

Where did you hear the 2/4 build date start? Hope that is the case.

Any idea when they will start scheduling builds (apparently starting 2/4)? Last I heard the 2/4 date was an unsubstantiated rumor that was also paired with a claimed scheduling start date that came and went, unfortunately, without being realized.

Saw my second fusion in the wild today and had a chance to chat up the driver. She loves it :-)

I had a similar experience ... in November. Walked the dealer through the word on the forums, they consulted the "order guy" and eventually got it placed - initially as a stock order, then changed to retail.

Called around - experience was different as different dealerships (got some goofy/wrong info and BS pricing from some).

Odd that it is so but persistence seems to be needed with Ford and this car.

Thanks all. I'm wondering if my having an x-plan PIN is making these dealerships lazy. I'll try again.

Many of us Have been on Blue Oval Forums since the 2013 Fusion was announced in January 2012

and have seen the whole TBD episode play out, too much to explain here . But ford announced they would produce a Fusion Titanium. This was in October 2012 .(Read the forums to find out what TDB is...) Hybrid Titanium announcement below.

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 2, 2012 – Ford’s new Fusion Hybrid, the most fuel-efficient sedan in America, raises the bar on luxury and technology with the debut of the 2013 Titanium edition.

The new model will be sold alongside the Fusion Hybrid SE, which is priced $1,575 less than the outgoing Fusion Hybrid, with even more content. The Titanium edition was developed in response to consumer demand for a higher level of luxury in a hybrid vehicle. Ford has been selling the Fusion Hybrid since 2009, and this is the first time it has been offered with this level of features.
Starting at just $32,995, Fusion Hybrid Titanium is available for the same price as the 2.0-liter EcoBoost® Fusion with all-wheel drive.
I ordered as soon as my ford dealer emailed me with "order banks open" this was October 29, i ordered the next day.
At that time the dealers were told the scheduling would start in December.and build on Jan 7, then evidently because of all the TDB problems there was a change.
Scheduling was supposed to start January 13 and build Feb 4. (all confirmed by my dealer and others on this forum) after rumors of another delay I contacted my dealer today and as far as they know the Feb 4 date stands.
Go to this link and you can see people tracking their orders, BUT make sure you read the rules before posting. Cyberdman is very strict, no excuses

I am aware of all the above, cwb, though I appreciate the above post.

I am merely attempting to ascertain the likelihood of the 2/4 production start date for Job 2 by seeking to gauge to validity of that data. Not all one hears in the rumor mill pans put.

I am not sure what TBD hell has to do with Job 2 since orders placed after TBD processed through fine ...

It doesn't appear as if the TBD fiasco (still ongoing) impacted subsequent Job 1 orders overmuch.

Sorry, I should have checked your profile. Thought you were new to this forum.

As far a the validity of the data, My salesman and sales manager so far have been up front with me and have kept me abreast of what they know, and thus far they have been right, based on other media sources and posts on all forums that I browse.

But as you Know the real test is when we see Cyberdman post a VIN

As far as TDB is concerned the Titanium Hybrid and the energi were all planned before TDB hit. This is my own opinion, but it is reasonable to assume with all the stress on Fords system with the quality and shipping issues that were going on they delayed the start of the Titanium and the energi.

There is a user on the Energi forum that says he has a VIN assigned with a build date of Feb 4th, so let's hope that this is a positive sign for the Titanium Hybrids being firmed up.

That's very encouraging.

As I understand it the Energi isn't tied in any way to the Fusion hybrid Ti's (though I wish it were given the apparent Energi movement).

There is some funky hold on the hybrid Ti's that my dealer can't figure out (or has been told to keep quiet about). No ability to order and build date on hold until further notice.

Ah - the joys of ordering a new model and not buying off the lot.

Is your dealer saying the energi's are a go, but there is a hold on titanuim Hybrids?

That would seem odd since the configurator for both appeared on the Ford website at the same time.

Could it be they don't have enough capacity to build all the configurations?

Sure hope you are wrong.

I guess this might explain why I haven't been able to order.
