hybridbear Report post Posted February 23, 2013 I agree the Fusion brakes are much better... Prius brakes are the grabbiest in the world, there is no travel in them. In test driving a Prius and a Camry Hybrid we found that Toyota brakes to be more grabby, less linear and much less predictable. It was hard to stop smoothly in the Toyota hybrids, that's not an issue with the Fusion. That was one of the points on our list that swayed our decision from the Camry Hybrid to the Fusion

My 2010 though when cold doesn't use regen, and those brakes can kick in unexpectedly the first few stops at 25 MPH or less. Its like hitting a wall. hybridbear Report post Posted February 23, 2013 Agreed, I found the same thing during our test drives. My 2010 though when cold doesn't use regen, and those brakes can kick in unexpectedly the first few stops at 25 MPH or less. Its like hitting a wall. That was how our Honda Accord Hybrid was too. It was very annoying. That was another feature I was looking for with the new car. I really liked the Camry Hybrid when I looked at it. I test drove one of those first back in spring of 2012 as we figured we would be purchasing a new car in the fall or early winter. Back then I had not even heard about the new Fusion. I was very impressed with the Camry and felt at that point that nothing else could beat it. Then the 2013 Fusion came out and as I read more and more articles and reviews of it leading up to when they went on sale to the public in October it seemed like the Fusion could be better than the Camry. Then we drove one and decided that, in our opinion, the Fusion is a better car than the Camry overall. Both have their high and low points, but overall we are very happy with the Fusion. I would say 8/10 to rate our happiness 2 acdii and B25Nut reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted February 23, 2013 The new Camry is a far better car than it was back in 2009 when we had one. I vowed never to have one again, but I broke it partially by test driving one, and was really surprised at the turn around Toyota made with the car. If the one we had back then was as nice as the one we test drove, we may still have it. However, the reason I did not trade the Fusion for the Camry this time around, the options in the Fusion just cant be beat unless you go for an Avalon, which is 6-8K more in cost than the Fusion, so hands down the Fusion really is the best bang for the buck. daleweideman Report post Posted February 23, 2013 I'm driven about 1400 miles now and I am up to a pretty consistent 40 MPG, with a mix of about 2/3 freeway, mostly at 65 MPH, and 1/3 city. I have to drive up a big hill on the way to work, with a gradual decline nearly to the same elevation on the far end. I'm very happy with the features of my 2013 FFH (it's loaded) and pretty happy with the MPG - had been counting on more like 43 or 44, but I am *so* far ahead - now I fill up about once per week, and only $40 worth (gas here is $4 per gallon) vs twice per week and often $50 or $60. And this car is so much nicer than a Prius. 2 B25Nut and hybridbear reacted to this

And this car is so much nicer than a Prius. You're probably still breaking in the engine too. You will probably see at least 44 MPG once warmer weather rolls around in the summer and once the engine is fully broken in. The FFH is light-years nicer than the Prius. The Prius is so cheaply made. I could talk negatively about Toyotas like some of the other ppl on here do about the Fusion and their gas mileage lol 1 HenryVIII reacted to this

Charrua Report post Posted February 25, 2013 It's the Michigan curse. According to my FFH my lifetime is 33.2 but Fuelly says 31.2. I keep waiting for the warmer weather before I complain to loudly about the MPG. Alas, the warmer weather never arrives.
BatCat Report post Posted February 28, 2013 We picked our '13 up on Monday and only have 160 miles on it. Hilly Upstate NY and we are getting 44.2 in town driving some 55 and mostly 30, haven't had a chance to take a trip. We have been trying to do the best we can to get the mileage without being ridiculous about it. We are still getting used to the FFH. It is nice to get double the mileage of the MKX. We are loving the FFH and how quit it is and the agility. 1 B25Nut reacted to this
