One Touch Passanger Window and Global Open

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about installing window switches off a 2011 into a 2010 to give you one touch down on the passanger side window. Also, if anyone knew about having Global Open put on so you can roll down the front windows and open the sunroof with the key FOB by unlocking twice. Both of these are stock features on the 2011 so i dont know how easy or difficult it might be to add this to a 2010.

I sincerely doubt it. It's not a simple case of swapping out switches. You would need a driver's door module from a 2011 and who knows if that can be retrofitted to a 2010 or if it would even be compatible the earlier car's system.

 

I'm not saying it's impossible, but you should be aware that these types of functions are not controlled merely by switches.

I work at a Ford dealership and i asked a few technicians and they didnt really know either, but one did say that it might just be the switch that controls it. But he also said that on Expeditions they have a entirely different motor and module, plus it might be in the computer system.. a few different things might need to be changed to make this work. I dont want to put a lot of money into it, i was really only interested if it would have been an easy, cheap mod... and its not looking like it will be.

It's definitely not in the switch - it's controlled by the smart junction box or one of the other computer modules. The switches talk to the module and the module operates the windows. That's how it accomplishes the global open.

Just curious if its just a change made by the ford diagnostic computer tech because thats how DRL's are shut off, the dealership hooks into the SJB and turns them on or off. So since the global open feature exists in the system (reffering to the lincolns line of cars to be able to do it) I think there is potential we can accomplish it on the fusion.

I dont know, all i have managed to find out is that it would be expensive, and not an easy thing to do. It seems like it might just be an easy reprogramming and putting new switches in the front doors, but the vehicle is so new and the features are new to Fords. So not many tecnicians know much about modding them or changing out the switches. It makes sense to me that you could just add the feature to the computer and change the switches and it should work.. sounds pretty simple, but i dont work on the cars, i just write up service appointments...haha.

You're forgetting the most important part - the window regulators. When you have global open and close, the window has to know where to stop. It has to have circuit protection so that if it gets stuck it won't start on fire. It has to have pinch protection so that if your kid sticks his head out the window while it's going up it won't decapitate him. All of this adds cost to the window regulators/motors, so Ford uses different ones for the different models. If it was as simple (and cheap) as software and switches, Ford would have one touch on everything.

I did hear that i might have to change out those parts also. Not that i want to melt my Fusion to the ground or decapitate any children with my windows, but those are saftey features, not something required to make it work. I would probably only have to add those to the passanger side, the drivers window and the sunroof i would imagine already have those on it. I think i have decided to just stop trying to change it and just live with having to hold the button to roll the passanger window down/up.. thanks for all the input from everyone.
