Abrooks Report post Posted December 14, 2010 Ok HI every1! Im alicia, new to the forum. so here's the deal.. I have a 2006 ford fusion sel v6 and what has happened is: I have the factory alarm on the car, and lately when I activate the alarm, it will beep three times as if something on the car is still open. I can imagaine you know what I mean if you have one and know how the alarm works. So it beeps three time, BUT everything is closed. whenit happened, I opened all four doors, and the trunk, went back around and made sure i shut them all completely, with a little force. so everything is closed, but the alarm is still saying something is open still. AND on top of that, the dome light overhead that is supposed to shut off when you activate the alarm, stays on. does not shut off at all, just stays on it doesnt even turn off when i start the car, like its supposed to. I took it to autozone and was told something about a sensor not working or something like that and the ony thing I could do to save my battery until I get it to the shop was to take the fuse out that went to the dome light. but that stopped my power windows from working also. ANYWAY, Can someone who has had this problem please tell me what's going ong, r if you know what's going on please help me because I really do NOT have money to have these people at the shop run a diagnostics. I just would like to tell them hey this is the problem this is what needs to be done. so if you have ANY insight at all about my situation I would really truly appreciate the help. One of your door sensors isn't working. Try spraying WD40 in each door latch (the part on the door that locks onto the bar in the door jamb. Do you get a warning message about a door being open? akirby Report post Posted December 14, 2010 No, there are no warning messages about the door being open. Strange. The alarm thinks something is open and it turns on the dome light. You'd think the same sensor would trigger the warning message. If you actually open a door or the trunk do you then get a warning message?

Hi abrooks. :D Just to add slightly to the mystery: The Ford Factory Perimeter Alarm System only beeps twice (not three times) to warn of a door, the hood, the trunk etc. not being properly closed when you press the lock button on the IKT remote. Also, how many times are you pressing the remote lock button on the IKT when this happens? The reason I ask is the horn should only beep (once or twice) if you press the remote button twice within three seconds. If you only press the IKT lock button once, the lights will blink once for an armed/locked confirmation or will not blink at all as warning of an improperly closed door/hood/trunk. However, there are no horn beeps at all when only pressing the IKT lock button once. An excerpt from the Owners Manual:When you press the lock control twice within three seconds on theremote entry transmitter portion of your IKT, the horn will chirp once tolet you know that all doors, the hood and the trunk are closed. If any ofthese are not closed, the horn will chirp twice to warn you that a door, the hood or the trunk is still open. If your horn is beeping three times, it would seem there is some type of glitch in the locking and/or Perimeter Alarm system of your car. Sorry I can not give any other insight into what the cause may be. Concerning the dome light? While this may seem like a stupid question, we have to rule out all possibilities. So, have you checked to ensure that the dome light is not turned on with the dimmer switch or the buttons on the dome light? I know it seems obvious, but it as happened to others in the past. Keep us updated. Good luck. :beerchug: Edited December 14, 2010 by bbf2530
Abrooks Report post Posted December 15, 2010 Ok well ever since I got the car it would beep THREE times if something was open. I bought the car used so I dont know if that has something to do with it. It has always done that. and wha is an IKT?? I know what you mean about pressing it twice within three seconds. whenever I would do that BEFORE the issure came, it would beep once and then beep again only louder. I am going to try the wd40 tomorrow whe I actually have the money to pay for a can. as for the dimmer situation No i didnt think to chack that out, I will though because I have done that before, turning until it clicks and everything just stays on. So I will check that out.

And I can tell you that your car should not honk three times, so there is something going on there. IF you check your Owners Manual, it explains in detail what the car should do in various locking/arming situations. If you were never given a copy of the Owners Manual (bough used) or can not find yours, you can download a PDF version of the Manual here: LINK: Ford Owner Guides Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
drolds1 Report post Posted December 15, 2010 If it turns out that your dome light is truly staying on for undetermined reasons, you're better off taking the bulb out than pulling the fuse. At least that way you'll have use of your windows until you can get this repaired. Also, you stated that you checked all four doors and the trunk.. Your Fusion should also have an alarm sensor for the hood. So, make sure your hood is firmly closed as well, although I'm sure you'd notice if it wasn't. Lastly, is the anti-theft indicator in your instrument panel staying on or flashing rapidly? This would indicate a problem with the anti-theft system. I. too, am puzzled by the triple horn chirp. Abrooks Report post Posted December 18, 2010 OKAY!! sorry i took a while to respond. I feel like a complete assinine right now because as mentioned above the switch next to the trunk opener was turned all the way up into the on position. I clicked it off so that it was just at the brightest setting for the dimmer. I put the fuse back in and verything worked fine. HMMMMMMM......can we say dee dee dee move on my part?? yes...we can...
