Factory Offset '07 Fusion SE?

Does anyone know what the factory offset is on a 2007 Fusion SE? The tire was, I believe, 205/60-16. I've begun the process of shopping for visual upgrades for my car. I think I've decided to go with what TireRack.com describes as "plussing". My understanding is that this will increase the visual appeal by showing less tire sidewall, and more wheel without reducing the performance of the car or suspension except by whatever difference in weight I might have with new wheels. For those of you out there who are more educated than I in these matter, please, feel free to correct me. Anyway, I know that for new wheels to fit correctly, I'll need to know the offset and that is one piece of information that I haven't been able to find.

Offset is +44.

 

The dimensions should be stamped someplace on the inside of the wheel.

Hi mdmmsu. :D Offhand, I do not remember which wheel is standard equipment on the the 2007 SE (16" or 17"). (2nd EDIT-Just checked The Tire Rack and they list the standard SE wheel/tire as a 16" in 2007).

 

If it is a 16" wheel, then the information I have, from here: LINK: Factory wheel specs shows a 16"x6.5" wheel with a +40mm offset using a 205/60-16 tire.

 

The factory 17" wheel size is 17"x7.5" with a +44mm offset. So if you go to a "Plus 1" sizing from a 16" wheel, you can use the Factory 17" wheel size. which is 17"x7.5" with a +44mm offset. That size wheel would use a 225/50-17 tire to keep the speedometer and odometer properly calibrated.

 

In addition to offset, the wheel width is also important. If you change the wheel with, the wheel offset will often also need to be changed for a proper look/fit.

If you go to an 18" wheel ("Plus 2" sizing), the factory spec tire size would be 225/45-18, and so on. Of course, on any of these wheels, you could go to a wider tread, but....

 

Something else to keep in mind: When shopping for wheels, you need to purchase wheels with a proper/usable center-bore size. The Fusion has a hub-size of 67.1mm. So you must purchase wheels that fit a 67.1mm hub or larger. You can not use wheels that have a center-bore smaller than 67.1mm. If the wheels have center-bore larger than 67.1mm, then you need to purchase correctly sized hub-rings to ensure the wheels are properly centered when mounting.

 

If you purchase from The Tire Rack or other reputable wheel/tire sellers, they will provide this information and only recommend properly fitting wheels.

Good advice. I think I'll give the Tire Rack a call and see what information I can get out of them. Can you think of any other technical information that I should be prepared with before talking with them? I would hate to start making progress and then get stalled due to a missing data point. If you buy the wheel/tire package from Tire Rack or Discount Tire Direct they will sell you the right wheels with the right offset, width, & hub size to fit the car. Both companies I've dealt with on numerous cars. They know what they are doing and won't steer you wrong.
