con_fusion Report post Posted October 9, 2010 Didn't really see any threads on V6 mileage so what is everyone getting? With the 2010 3.0 V6 FWD, I'm getting 23.5 mpg with about 1/2 City/Highway driving. This seems to be a little better than the estimated combined mpg that was on my sticker (22). Rodeo Report post Posted October 9, 2010 I am constantly getting about 27.5 combo driving, granted most of that is indeed highway and I can tell you I don't baby my car for mileage. Of course, thats the cars computer giving me that reading and only god knows how accuratre that is. Still, 27.5 is pretty good if you ask me, especially having all the power of the 2010 V6-3.0 as it does. Very happy with the engine performance and mileage. Some of that is due to the 6-speed tranny though, but as a package, it does rather well.
Oldguy16 Report post Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) About 23 driving half highway and city, and this has continuously been my mileage. Just highway, I've been getting 30 usually, but sometimes I drive the highway very late, set the cruise control at 55mph (speed limit on the Garden State Parkway) drive in the right lane, and do 42mpg. That's usually when I have unlimited time and want to save gas. Edited October 9, 2010 by Oldguy16
Jshell757 Report post Posted October 12, 2010 21.8 MPG for about a 40/60 split of driving. Not to bad for an SEL 3.0 AWD.

In what way? The OM says the opposite Fuel qualityIf you are experiencing starting, rough idle or hesitation driveabilityproblems during a cold start, try a different brand of “Regular” unleadedgasoline. Premium unleaded gasoline is not recommended for vehiclesdesigned to use “Regular” unleaded gasoline because it may cause theseproblems to become more pronounced. If the problems persist, see yourauthorized dealer.
Oldguy16 Report post Posted October 19, 2010 The fusion runs on minimum 87 octane, and can take up to Ethanol, I'm pretty sure it can handle 91. When I tried 87, it was rough idle, as you stated, and didn't seem to accelerate as smoothly, put 91 in, car drives wonderfully. Idle has been smooth, as well as acceleration. My dad does the same for his sport, he also though regular just didn't run well.

Oldguy16 Report post Posted October 19, 2010 If it runs bad on 87 then somethings wrong, either with the engine or the fuel.In all technicality it runs fine, I just feel it runs better on 91, smoother, all my other cars do the same, new or old. I don't mean it's not driveable, I just feel it runs better on 91, same with the sport. For instance instead of not feeling idle at all, on regular fuel, once in a while I'd feel the engine. I think my post turned out to be a bit more exaggerated than intended. The fusion can of course run on 87, and is meant to, Ford even designed the ecoboost to run on 87, I just feel mine runs best on 91.

Chriz Report post Posted December 2, 2010 I also run 93 octane, only have the choices of 87,89 and 93 here in south Texas. On my old vehicle I discovered that higher octane helped the car's performance. So when I got my 07 Fusion SE V6, the first gas I put was 93 and have not changed since. Still runs like new @ 124K - My next dues are tranny flush, brake check & tires after that. And I also have always used FULL SYNTHETIC OIL and premium oil filter for all my oil changes every 4-5K miles. MPG as of now is 24.5 with combined hwy/city driving. bbf2530 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Can I ask you where you take that tranny flush maintenance from ? I do not remember seeing this in the maintenance schedule tnx! Hi P00r. :D Ford's Maintenance Guide recommends changing the automatic transmission fluid in the Fusion/Milan/MKZ at 150,000 miles for "Normal Service" vehicles and 30,000 miles for "Severe Service" vehicles. You can find this information in the Ford Scheduled Maintenance Guide you were given when you purchased your vehicle, (if you purchased new). In addition, the descriptions of what comprises "Normal" or "Severe Service" vehicles are also located in the Maintenance Guide. Of course, that is Ford's "recommendation". If you are more comfortable performing scheduled maintenance sooner than Ford recommends, it certainly will not hurt and that is up to you. As long as you don't change later, you are good. If you purchased your vehicle used or can not find your copy, you can download he PDF version here: LINK: Ford Owner Guides Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
