2010 Fusion Turbo?

I have a 2010 Fusion SEL AWD V6 3.0L and would like to put a turbo or supercharger in it. I am looking for a kit that I can bolt in myself and would like to keep the engine mods to a bare minimum.

Unless you plan on replacing the transmission also - don't bother. If you're really serious - check out Noble.

If you wanted a performance car you could of gotten a great deal on a Pontiac G8, or GTO. A coworker has a GTO and he's up to over 500 HP at the rear wheels. Had to get street legal drag tires so they would stick. Now that's performance!

If I wanted a Pontiac I would have gotten a Pontiac. I got the Fusion because I wanted a Fusion.

Wrong. The V6 Fusion has the 6F35 tranny. The SHO has a specially designed 6F55 built specifically to handle the higher torque. But don't take my word for it - roll the dice and see how long it lasts.

I have found that the Taurus SHO does in fact have the 6f55 and the fusion has the 6f35. I am having trouble finding other sites with HP and Torque information. I would like to be able to verify this information with other sources.

 

If this information is correct I should be able to add about 60 hp and 60 ft·lbf safely. Like I said I would like to get a little extra power out of my fusion and my goal was to get it up to about the 300 hp range. Unless there are other ways to add a significant amount of HP a small turbo or supercharger is my only option. The only other things that I can think of are a new intake and exhaust, but I see that only gaining me about 20 hp give or take a little.

According to steeda, if you add an intake, exhaust, and a chip, you should make about 300hp, (45hp more than stock) how true that is, not really sure. There was a a post earlier here about a supercharger, check it out, and maybe give the guy a call. For you, it sounds like you should get the supercharger, set it to low boost, and you'll have a great balance. I'd be more worried about the fuel delivery actually, rather than the tranny, unless you drive the car really hard everyday. With a turbo or supercharger, you run the risk damaging the fuel pump and the injectors, they weren't made to handle that much pressure. However, the tranny also wasn't meant to do that much, so I'd be hesitant to put my foot to the floor. If you can find a turbo, post the link, I couldn't find one. If I get a turbo, it's all out, tranny swap, new fuel delivery etc. too much money for right now. Intake, chip, and exhaust may be the way to go at this point, due to the lack of choice.

Keep in mind that Ford thought it necessary to put in a stronger transmission (Aisin) in the Fusion Sport and other Ford's (6F50) that use the 3.5L, and that only has 23hp more than the 3.0L. That doesn't sound like a lot of safety margin to me.

Isn't it possible that ford used a different transmission on the 3.5L because the 6f35 physical would not fit on the 3.5L? If someone could post some sources that would collaborate what Wikipedia says the 6f35 transmission can handle. That would greatly help me in my decision of what I am going to do.

I found a site that has a supercharger for th 3.0 V6 making between 375-475 horsepower.

At this point, I just have an intake, but I wanna chip the car, just so it doesn't shift so damn slow. That really kills the 0-60, the shift times. But with these shitty transmissions in the 3.0's, I'd be hesitant to put too much power to the wheels. I'm not doing more than an intake, chip, and maybe exhaust. You want your car to be quicker, get an intake, an exhaust, and go get a custom dyno tune, same price as the chip. If you really want this to be quick, take it to a custom shop and have them install a shift kit and a performance torque converter or something, because this garbage one won't last more than 60k in my opinion. notice I use opinion, I have little fact behind this

I haven't really done any research yet for Fusions and turbos, but if you're willing to put in the work, you can put a turbo on anything. It depends on how much time and money you want to spend. With the Fusion being a normal car and not a performance-oriented car, I wouldn't hold my breath for turbo kits to come flying out of shops around the country. You'll have to put forth the ingenuity to create your own monster. No one offered a pre-built big-dog turbo setup for my 94 Mustang GT that I had, so I came up with my own setup. I designed the fuel system, came up with the turbo setup and let a shop bend, cut and weld the turbo kit, I picked the turbo, WG, BOV, etc. You can't just pick a 1000Hp turbo kit from anywhere.

 

So, I've considered going turbo on my 2010 3.0 Fusion when the warranty expires. If you come up with something sooner, let me know ;) If you need any pointers or advice, don't hesitate to write.

I can see this thread is going back a bit (time wise) but I'd like to chime in a bit. I have been watching the drag tracks, etc; and find a big interest in making the Fusion into a fairly good race/drag car. Now these folks are going pretty much all out. But like you guys (and gals) I want my Fusion to be a bit more than it is on the street. I have a new 2011 3.0 Fusion SE (didn't quite have the capital for the Sport). There's a suspension package out for the Fusion (which would be a good place to start). But I fail to see any tuners, air systems, etc. Oops, I take the tuner back, I believe SCT now makes a tuner for the 2011 3.0. So now a decent air intake would be next. I know Steeda might or might not have this, but I can tell you right up front I won't pay their price. Yes, they make quality stuff, but it's a bit too pricey for me. I'll wait for K&N or someone else (K&N can be pricey too). You have to admit there's not much to these kits and the material that goes into them can't be that expensive....(unless I'm missing something). I almost want to fabricate my own, but I don't have the shop or tools to do it in. Anyway, I guess my post is just about getting my '11 3.0 up to say 300-320HP. I don't know about the new 6-speed transmissions and how they'd hold up to that much more power. But I have to think Ford built them better. (Heck, I've even got the manual auto shift with the + & - on the side of the shifter to do it yourself if you want). Kinda of a neat thing Ford did. (Again I wonder if the tranny will take more thoough.) It's extreamly hard to find any info on the 2011 internals. I'm sure it'll trickle out, but I'm like everyone else, I wanted it yesterday.....lol...So I guess I'm hoping all you out there that's interested in doing the same will chime in here and say where you found some of the goodies we need to do this to our Fusions.
