William Horton Report post Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) OldSchool posted this regarding his Many problems with his vehicle.. Sorry OLDSCHOOL for all the problems.. Hope they get it all fixed to your satisfaction soon !.. Please keep us posted on new developments..On one of OldSchools posts he stated "Okay! First thing that happened was the drivers side BLIS light in the mirror turned on and then an error message appeared saying that BLIS unavailable. Sensor blocked. See owners manual." I have noticed this problem on my FFH when driving along a center median. The BLIS will come on and stay on with the warning above for at least ten minutes after you leave the median.I hope isn't a sign of worse things to come..This has been my ONLY issue with my FFH in the first 1,500 miles. The drivers window on the trip down, makes a little knocking noise, which I would like to get resolved as well. Thanks and let me know if this is a common problem that can't be fixed.BH :shift: Edited March 11, 2010 by William Horton

My friends with '10 Fusions report the same behavior. There are also similar reports on this forum. This is a glitch which is not an indicator of things to come. Hopefully Ford will have a "fix" soon. It is annoying!
lolder Report post Posted March 11, 2010 This is most likely electromagnetic (RF) interference from something. It probably can't be fixed with all the devices that emit RF these days and little regulation. Ignore it.
oldschool1962 Report post Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) There have been times I have passed guard rails, medians, bridge abutments and even road debris and the light indicators on both side have illuminated. From what I've learned about this........Unless you're getting a message in the "message center" of the dash it shouldn't be any real issue....then again I got a message and well......the story if elsewhere in the forum. Anyhow from what I have learned....... the system is taken from the Volvo side of Ford and has been in use for a few years. There shouldn't be any real bugs.......then again from some of the things I've experienced?.........This is an unedgumicated guess so take it for what it's worth.....No matter what....... if it is currently on all of the time and never shuts off......I'd have the system checked by the dealer. You know just for grits and shins......... just to be sure. Personally and no offense to you Lee.....I don't believe anything out of the ordinary should "just be ignored" on these or any vehicles. If it happens to one and is dismissed as normal then it should apply to all.....By that logic all should exhibit the behavior as the norm. If they're not then................it shouldn't be considered.............normal. Edited March 16, 2010 by oldschool1962
PaulGo Report post Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) I brought my 2010 Milan Hybrid in for this problem and Ford had a software update for it. This occurred occasionally on both my right and left sideview mirrors. Edited March 18, 2010 by PaulGo

Bought New 2010 Fusion on Nov 09 with BLIS, less than 3000 miles.. I like the feature. However, it will unexpected malfuntion/stop working; the "Cross Traffic not available" and "Blind Spot not available" messages appears. It lasted for 3~ 5 minutes, but the last time lasted for 25 minutes. Took back to the dealer, reprogram it, but didn't fix it.. Will turn in the car again. I also have the 'problem' with the yelllow blind spot light stay on (right side mirrow) . It seeems quite a few car have the same prolem. I think Ford need look into the problem. But it's only happened a few times and I think it mostly correlates to curbed medians, even when I'm stopped at a traffic light.
fsb99 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 Yeah I bought mine in May '09 and have had similiar problems with my Left sensor staying on or reporting "blocked". But it's only happened a few times and I think it mostly correlates to curbed medians, even when I'm stopped at a traffic light. I'm pretty sure what's happening here is that the radio frequency (RF) signal BLIS transmitted is being reflected back (by a median etc) into the receiver and interfering with the system. I'm guessing the BLIS system reports this as "blocked" after prolonged condition. I've seen this happen once in my FFH on the freeway when I was in the carpool lane (freeway divider to my left). Other causes of interference could be spurious RF in the same frequency (may or may not be FCC violation, depending on application)
resq1diver Report post Posted April 22, 2010 I get it all the time when driving next to a median, i just hit the reset button on the steering wheel and the message on the dash goes away, tho you'll still see the yellow dot on the side mirror... I know i stated the obvious but hey, there has to be someone out there that didn’t know ;)
Tazzboo Report post Posted April 26, 2010 Took my car into day for the same fault. Driver side bliss fault. Well they took a look at it and came up with a fault code for the Driver Side Mirror. Apperently this is a common problem and a new mirror has been produced however, they are on back order. This tells me that a bunch of people are having the same problem. I will let you know what happens when the mirror comes in sometime mid May. Ours was failing about 70 to 80% of the time we drove it. Very Very anoying to me. Finnaly broke down and took it in. :)
Stang8URMPRT Report post Posted May 3, 2010 I just had my brake recall done and a "dash software upgrade" done, and this is happening now.... Pretty annoying... gives me an error message that the BLIS is not functioning correctly and to look at the owners manual. I just turn the car off then back on and it goes away. They said the BLIS noted NO CODE meaning they couldn't see any problem with it.. Maybe I'll just have to live with this one. Also had one glitch, a crunchy sounding drivers window, which they replaced a window regulator, which had to be overnighted to the dealer.. No more crunching noise.Brake recall performed as well.
