Using Keyless Entry - What's the Trick?

Recommended Posts

I have tried using the keyless entry with the 5-digit code that comes

on a car in my glovebox. Nothing happens. I did not lock it out

(35 wrong presses).

Manual doesn't say you have to press buttons a certain way or

one digit is on one side and other is on the other side. Or anything

special like that.

I must be doing something wrong, can't be that that car is wrong.

Is the manual missing some minor detail? I simply want to

unlock the drivers door, nothing more.

I have used the keypad with no problems, although I treated the keypad as each side corresponds to a number. Do you have the correct code? :banghead:

I had numerous issues with the keypad, including three visits to the dealership, before the root cause was finally determined.

First, the number that was given for the keypad was incorrect. The service department had to connect to vehicle's computer to find the correct key code. Even with the correct key code, the 1-2 button was not functioning correctly. A new keypad was ordered and the old one was replaced. When that didn't work, they started tracing the wiring and found a connector with a bent pin. Now, the keypad works like it should.

I've been surprised at how much that I've used the keypad in the last five days since it was finally fixed. I think it's worth the effort having the service department look at it. I'd have them verify that you have the correct code first and go from there.

Good luck.

The buttons light up as soon as I touch the first one, reading right off the keycode card

found in the glovebox. Maybe it is wrong and I'll have to leave the car.

Do you have to push left/right for the right button #? Is it intended to work that way?

Totally unclear...

You do not have to push a side...just the center of each button. When I enter my 5 digit code, the driver's door unlocks, then if I push 3/4 key all doors unlock, then 5/6 key trunk opens. Have you tried programming a personal code? Check out the steps on pg 113 of the manual. See if that helps. Otherwise it may require a trip back to the dealer. Good luck.

Problem solved....

Turns out there were two keycode cards in the glovebox. First one I grabbed was wrong

and 2nd one, which was different worked. Thanks for that confusion Ford. So I programmed

in the 2nd one and my own code and all works now.
