bbf2530 Report post Posted August 1, 2009 do they still push Lo Jack pre-delivery If so is there any reason the FFH would benefit from this system more than a non hybrid (is this a question for my insurance company) ? Hi rfruth. :D Would not hurt to ask your Insurance Company how much it will save you on your Comprehensive coverage premium. Then you can make a fully informed decision. It is not pushed (or normally even mentioned) in my area. It is more of an individual Dealer type of thing, as far as offering it pre-delivery. Bottom line: There is no reason why the FFH would "benefit" from the system more than a non-Hybrid. So, if you think you need LoJack (Hybrid or not) then have it installed. If you would not normally install it on a non-Hybrid vehicle, don't install it on your FFH. Good luck. :beerchug:
cuehara Report post Posted August 1, 2009 do they still push Lo Jack pre-delivery If so is there any reason the FFH would benefit from this system more than a non hybrid (is this a question for my insurance company) ? Since the effectiveness of LoJack really varies between police departments, it's benefits are will vary. If you live in an area where the local PD is equipped with LoJack tracking computers, it might provide peace of mind. So yeah, the most certain impact an install will have is on your insurance rate, and that will vary a good bit between policies and companies. LoJack does offer an additional device and service that uses a GPS, and you can use it to monitor your car's location, but it isn't meant for vehicle recovery. The standard LoJack uses a radio transceiver, and the local PD needs to both activate it and have the hardware and interest in tracking your car down for the whole system to work. skluck Report post Posted August 1, 2009 What's the point? Cars with immobilizers seem to rarely be stolen. Unless you are dealing with a world class thief or own a ferrari, I don't really get the point of lowjack. I bet car insurance companies realize this and you get just as large of a discount from having an immobilizer.

I know someone who had that done to them; the thieves were fast and selective and left the car sans wheels/dash/hood a couple of blocks away. But you're right, LoJack doesn't really prevent that. A good alarm is a better preventative measure.
rfruth Report post Posted August 12, 2009 thanks for all the feedback, I talked to my auto insurance person today & she told me with all the security stuff on the FFH lo-jack wouldn't do me much good (insurance cost wise) so unless the dealer makes me a heck of a deal on one i'm gonna pass.
