X-Plan and FFH

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at a FFH to replace my current Edge that is coming off of lease. I stopped at one of the local Ford dealers to find out if they would take X-Plan for a FFH. He said no and that no dealer would take X-Plan for a FFH. Is this true or was he feeding me a line? I seem to remember in one of the Fusion forums that people were buying FFH's with X-Plan.

TIA

Hi ffeingol. :D He was feeding you a line.

These are the details: The FFH is eligible for X-Plan sales and many Dealers are accepting X-Plan sales for FFH's. However, it is up to individual Dealer discretion whether to sell any vehicle (including the FFH) on X-Plan. They do not have to accept an X-Plan sale if they do not wish to.

In this case, the Dealer you visited has decided not to sell the FFH on X-Plan. However, they are not telling the truth when they stated "no dealer would take X-Plan for a FFH".

In this case you simply need to make some calls and find a Dealer who will accept an X-Plan sale for the FFH. It should not be hard to find one.

Good luck. :beerchug:

Yup, that is what I though. I would have felt fine if he said they were not accepting X-Plan for FFH. The 'line' he gave me really bent me the wrong way.

Got my FFH on June 23rd X plan. Dealer was happy to do the deal.

ffeingol,

There's some great advice as usual, from bbf2530.

I got mine with the 501a package and leather, on July 8th. Three of the 5 dealerships near Knoxville, TN, said that they would accept the X-Plan, but two had none in stock. One said no, because they were selling them at MSRP and would make more profit, (I appreciated their honesty), and the last said no, and like yours, tried to tell me that X-Plan was absolutely impossible on a FFH, anywhere! All that did was motivate me to prove them wrong, which took all of 15 minutes.

Good luck.

I did an X-Plan back in April. The key is that I ordered the car. They would not do an X-plan for the car they had in stock. However, I wanted to order the car anyway. I wanted Silver 502a package. So, I was happy to order it. The dealer was happy to book a sale for a car not even in stock. Worked for all.

I got my FFH X-plan from the dealer's lot.

Yup. Called another dealer (about 14 miles away). She was not sure about one that was on the lot but has no problem with an order. I have 4 months before the current lease ends so I have no issues with ordering.

Order before 9/30 to take advantage of the $1,700 tax credit. :happy feet: :happy feet:

Yup, already checking with the accountant. Timing out the order so I'm not overlapping 2 leases is such fun :-)

We're in the same position as you. We currently have a lease on a '08 Fusion with a final payment in December. However, we're probably going to begin going over mileage sometime towards the end of October. So, we already have accepted we will need to 'eat' the last two payments (or pay overage charges on top of the payments, which doesn't make much sense) and are trying to also best time out our order, like you.

I still keep seeing 6-8 weeks for delivery times on retail orders, so as of now we're thinking the last week of August or first week of September. Can't wait!

and the credit only seems to apply to 'purchase' not 'lease' but I'll leave that one up to the accountant.

Based on the posts of others, I think 6-8 weeks is cutting too close. I would give 8-9 weeks or line up a rental car when your leased car is turned in. Good luck.

From what I have read, the leasing company can claim the rax credit, not the person leasing the vehicle. How do you negotiate that into the lease rate?

Not to open a can of worms, but why lease at all? You are always making a car payment. If you cannot pay for the car, get a loan for the least amount of time and pay it off.
