hal9000 Report post Posted November 15, 2022 I can't believe how sensitive the panic button on my 4 button flip key is. I think I set it off 3 times walking around the house this morning and once playing with our toddler this evening. I swear it goes off if I look at the fob too intently! Aside from taping a piece of plastic over the button or (gasp!) Taking the keys out of my pocket when I'm at home, is there anything else I can do? Cobra348 Report post Posted November 16, 2022 In a word: nope. My most common set-it-off times are exiting the car. As much a nuisance as it is, it's a handy way of finding the car in a parking garage ... "now where the $%^$% is that car?" scenario.
hal9000 Report post Posted November 18, 2022 I'll probably experiment with a piece of milk jug that bridges across the button, and a little electrical tape. Ghetto, but if it provides a bit of extra resistance and makes the button harder to push I can live with that!
mwr Report post Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) What year FFH is this, and which key fob (with a flip-put key or not)? I've had no problem at all with the panic button on the key fob (with flip-out key) for my 2015 FFH SE. Edited November 18, 2022 by mwr

I wouldn't mind occasional mishaps, but it literally happens every day if I keep my keys in my pocket

The problem is the button tops are flush to the fob itself so anything that even slightly depresses the button can activate it. The panic button is at the bottom of the fob where the housing is getting a bit thinner. I've had the non-flip-out key fobs on all of my FFHs and they all had the same issues. hal9000 Report post Posted November 19, 2022 I've only noticed it on the fob I usually carry. I'll have to switch to find out if the other does it, but in my estimate it's more related to the side/shape of the button than anything. All it takes is a little outside pressure on my pocket and anything that's contacting the button (chap stick, another key, etc) will depress the button. And since it's hard plastic, there's no give for minor pressure like you'd have with a rubber button.

Fob is separate and turned so I can hit the lock button with my thumb (button side facing thigh). Right pocket holds change, other small misc items. hal9000 Report post Posted November 19, 2022 Yep, for the most part keys ride solo in the left pocket. I don't bother arranging them since I wear slacks and they move around quite a bit.
