I sure will and I was hoping the same. Hopefully whatever it is it's not too expensive.

You need a Ford dealer. 2013+ FFH's had trouble with the eCVT transmissions caused mostly be a bad bearing. They started making a grinding noise long before they failed, in fact I haven't heard of any failing. Some also had oil leaks. See if there are any extended warranties past the 8/100k hybrid warranty. The transmission is covered by that. From my understanding, cvt failure can be prevented by draining and filling up the cvt oil. Replacing about 1 quart every 25k miles starting from ~50-75k miles seems to be a good start. An entire cvt flush can also be done at 100k miles, and is like 5 quart of oil, but requires the cvt to be demounted and taken apart, which is MUCH more costly. While it's there, the magnetic filter can be cleaned as well. (Which can't be cleaned with a 1 qt oil change). The 120-145k miles one gets out of the cvt without transmission fluid change, can easily be extended to 185-225k miles(or even higher?), by just doing a 1 quart oil change interval every 25k miles. That's < $250 on insurance for doubling the transmission mileage, you'll get right there. Edited April 27, 2021 by MeeLee
manninp Report post Posted April 27, 2021 You definitely don't need to dismount the transmission to change the fluid. There is a drain plug right underneath it and a fill plug on the side. It takes about 15 mins to do a complete drain and fill

The bearing failures were not due to dirty oil but manufacturing defect.

The magnetic filter won't be cleaned, and between 1/4th to 1/3rd of the oil can only be drained this way. I only read it, but correct me if I'm wrong. They definitely do need maintenance, especially if you like to keep your car for over 100k miles. I myself will change out the oil every 50k miles. Not the full flush, just drain and fill. Not true. 2010-12 eCVT failures are almost unheard of. They were built by Aisin in Japan. 2013+ eCVTs were built by Ford and early ones had faulty bearings that no amount of fluid changes would prevent damage. MeeLee you are wrong. RobertIversonTemecula Report post Posted April 5, 2022 (edited) Hi. My 2013 FFH SE with 252,000 miles won’t start. I left the key on overnight and battery ran dead. Would not not jump start. Recharged the 7/17 date code (42 month old) battery and load tested good overnight. Still no start. Jumped again with battery charged and using lithium jumper, still no start. All dash lights and car appear normal but no response from starter. No green move icon. Check engine light on but not throwing any codes. Wrench icon appears and disappears as I disconnect 12v battery ground to attempt to clear PCM. Fuses checked fine. Relay tool showed several sockets with green and red LED lit for same pin location and I’ve read this should not be the norm. I’m hoping to diagnose and fix without a tow to dealer, especially if it’s a simple fix. Appears as if contacts not being made to mate stater/generator to spin up ICE and no HVB power is present to show green move icon. I got a new battery yesterday at Costco and put the old battery at the jump posts under hood for a total of 1300CCA but still no response from starter. Any ideas? paxham Report post Posted July 1, 2022 Something similar happened to me. I am a new Fusion Hybrid owner and I took it out on a short road trip (200 mile round trip) last Sunday to the Blue Ridge Mountains for a short hike. When I got back to the car I powered it up to cool off. I sat there for 5 or 10 minutes and decided to leave. When I put it reverse and took my foot off the brake it rolled slightly forward. I immediately put on the brakes. When I put my foot on the gas pedal I had no power at all. The car wouldn't move. I didn't and still know what the problem was. I thought I was going to have to call a tow truck. I was 100 miles from home and didn't know what I was going to do. I tried shutting the car off, shutting off the AC. After several tries I got the car to go into reverse and drove off. The rest of the trip was uneventful and I got home safe, but this rattled me. Now I'm worried about running the battery down if I'm sitting still. I would think the gas engine would kick on and keep the battery charged. Am I right to be worried? The gas engine should have kicked in. I usually don't like idling but sometimes, you need to cool off a bit. In my experience, the gas engine has kicked in when the battery level gets low. You may want to test this at home so that you don't have to experience it in the field. 1 paxham reacted to this

I've often sat in my parked 2015 FFH with the power on, usually on a hot day so I can have the AC on while I eat lunch in the car or whatever. The gas engine always turns on when the HVB gets low enough. 1 paxham reacted to this

Even better maybe. 18 hours ago, 2014FordFusionSE said: You may want to test this at home so that you don't have to experience it in the field. I'm just guessing what caused the problem and it has only happened once. I was 100 miles from home and hours from a tow truck. I was pretty rattled and greatly relieved when I got power back. Hoping it doesn't happen again.
