  1. 2019 Hybrid Titanium with 87K miles and still have the original brake pads. Stops are smooth and silent, but I can't help but think the pads must be close to the end of their lifespan. I do drive pretty gently, coasting to a stop when I can and using the Eco button for regen, so I expect that has helped quite a bit, but 87K? Anybody else here experienced such long life?
  2. Have FFH owners found that the friction brake parts last much longer than normal cars? This should be the case, right? Since so much of the stopping force is being done by the regenerative brakes?
  3. I took my 2015 FFH in for 90K service a couple of days ago. The service writer told me that the rear brakes were showing signs of wear and I should be looking towards a replacement job. I’m more than surprised as I have pretty high brake “scores” and frequently use manual downshift on hills rather than the brake pedal. Was I being unsold? Does anyone know what’s reasonable mileage before a brake job? Thanks in advance.
  4. A family member put new rotors and pads on all four corners of my granddaughter's 2014 Fusion Hybrid recently and now I have a few problems. The scariest thing is that when stopping, the brakes act normal up to a certain point, bringing the car to a near stop, then it acts just like I'm stopping on ice; the pedal feels normal, but the car doesn't stop, it sorta coasts to a stop. I'm also seeing Traction Control, ABS, Brake system and hill start assist lights that weren't there before.
  5. So I have 92,000 miles and when I start the car no warning lights come on. When I start to brake the regen brakes work fine but right before the car comes to a complete stop at about 5mph it’s like the brakes lock up for a split second and the car “jerks” and then the brake, abs, and traction control warning lightscome on. Disabling the regen brakes (which is annoying) and the abs system BUT the car doesn’t jerk anymore when coming to a stop. I took it to a ford delearship and replaced the master cylinder for $1100... and it helped for 1day then the next morning it happens again. The only code my car puts out on my scan tool is C1029 which we thought was the brake master cylinder . Please please please Can anyone help me
  6. My car will occasionally slide/lurch forward while braking. The feeling is as if the regenerative brakes are disengaging, and then re-engaging, which is very disconcerting. I thought the problem was resolved after having the rear rotor and brakes replaced last year at 21,000 miles but the problem still happens. The posts on the following link perfectly describe what's going on with my car. I also need to get the front rotors replaced. The dealer has not been able to reproduce the issue. http://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Fusion_Hybrid/2013/brakes/service_brakes.shtml
  7. Has anyone experience your Fusion hybrid "jumping" or jerking forward when you apply the brakes?
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiR4zGuhyEs Could anyone help me figure out if this is normal or what is wrong? It seems to happen for about 10-20 seconds after hitting brakes in electric mode. Thanks!
  9. I have a 2012 Fusion Hybrid with 28K miles. About two weeks ago, I started noticing that occasionally when I apply the brakes, I get an electronic chime noise (similar to the one you get when the key is in the ignition with the door open) only much faster that last 1-2 seconds. I cannot feel any difference in the braking and all feels normal. There is no warning light or message on the dash when this happens. It doesn't happen all the time, but seems to happen mainly when the car has been at highway speeds for a while. I would appreciate any ideas on this. I have not taken it to the dealer, yet.
  10. I'd think that if the ABS system kicks in that you wouldn't get a 100% brake score. I would think that anytime the ABS kick on that you're not getting all your regen because the system pumps the brakes and I don't imagine that the electric motor can do that through regen. However, so far I have still gotten a 100% brake score every time I have had the ABS kick on both in our FFH and driving my parents' C-Max Energi the past few days. My next test will be to find a parking lot and engage the ABS while looking down at the ScanGauge amps flowing to the HVB to see if there is any interruption in current flow when the ABS kick on while still getting a 100% brake score. Has anyone else tested this?
  11. To make a short story long.... I went to my great Dealer today to get my axle Thrust Washers installed for the 'cracking' repair. I added a VHR that contained Dash Warnings my car has intermittently, regarding traction control and brakes. To that I threw in TSB 13-6-22 about check engine and various DTC warnings. Plus an oil/filer change and tire rotation. We then moseyed over to the Dealers little cafe and had our free breakfast, but got bored eventually. So, my great Dealer gave us an Enterprise '13 Ford Focus (Ugh!) to drive around during the day while they fixed the car. We soon tired of that funky Focus and got back to the Dealer about 2:30pm and I checked in with my great Service Advisor to find the Thrust Washers were in place and repair done, the oil changed* and tires rotated*. (*A free Dealer service perk, what a great Dealer) That's when the happy faces stopped. My dash warnings on the VHR showed a problem with the brake system getting an consistent error code. The Hybrid brake/eCVT Specialist went through the system and declared it working properly, except for the input DTC from the ICE. The car was moved over to another Service Bay (they have 50+ bays) and the 'Driveability' Specialist was told to find out why the brakes were getting a DTC from the ICE. There is such a thing as a 'Diagnostic Tree' (flow chart) that the Specialist follows and the Throttle Body sensor was sending codes to the brakes telling them something was wrong. The Specialist went down the Yes/No chart and ended up back where it started, no answer. He did this carefully 3 times, with another helper assisting, no joy. At this point the only thing that is allowed to be done is: Call THE FORD HELP LINE. It is now 4:30pm and we're getting cranky. Nothing can be done now, the Service Adviser cannot release the car to me because of the VHR's warning about the brakes. So, top this, we get another Enterprise rental car, I refuse the Ford Focus and end up with a '12 Fusion SE. That is two free rental cars in one day! Now, I live 75 miles from my GREAT Dealer and I mention that I am not happy paying for gas for the rental car because my car can't be repaired. Absolutely, my great Service Advisor says "don't worry about a thing, the car & gas are on us" - amazing, simply amazing. Now we're home, enjoyed driving the '12 Fusion and, hopefully, sometime tomorrow my car will be fixed. I can then go back on Wednesday and get it because if I don't it is the 4th of July weekend and I won't have it for a week. = BTW, a FFH Forum member stopped by the Dealership (his great Dealer too) this morning and we swapped stories about our cars, it was a pleasure. = But this makes me wonder, there are times when the car feels like it's dragging an anchor and the mpg's are low, like a steady 45 mph and getting 10mpg's. Could the brakes be affecting performance and causing something negative to happen? The car has had these brake warnings since the first month I owned it, a Dealer did a 'Hard System Reset' to clear the Dash Warnings then. I've had several since then that clear themselves after a re-start, with the last one happening a couple weeks ago. Strange...
