  1. Hey guys, I just wanted to report what occurred and what I found in case anyone else has a similar occurrence. My 2010 FFH has 108,000 miles on it and the other day on my way to work the check engine light came on, and stayed on. This is the 'hard light' on the bottom of the display cluster, NOT the wrench light or some other indication on the graphical display. The check engine light stayed on for the rest of the day and luckily the car operated and performed normally. I did stop and check out everything under the hood, but all looked normal. Before taking it to the dealer the next day to have it looked at the light went out. Approximately 36 hours after the light came on. The dealer was able to pull the codes and it turns out the O2 sensor was shot and the MAF sensor was filthy. The replaced and cleaned the sensors as well as the throttle body and "lifetime" filter. $850 later we are back in business and all seems okay. I live in Vegas and we get a lot of dusty driving, so it seems reasonable that this could happen after 108k miles. Just passing along some data. Thanks!
  2. Lots of Fusions here in Vegas! But I've only seen a few FFHs and I'm certainly the only one in my neighborhood with one.
  3. There are some antennas that screw in as the 1st poster stated...and they don't fit. Be careful. The threaded portion is too long, so when you screw it in, the plastic/rubber part doesn't come down all the way to meet the base. Does anyone know the name of this antenna? We should have that to help future dudes avoid buying this junk.
  4. I think it boils down to preference. A lot of posts here say their ride is fine, while others say is horrible. I say there is NO WAY that the rides can be that different on a qualitative scale. It has to be user likes and dislikes that drives these sorts of differences. :redcard: My FFH ride is quite, smooth, and stable, yet taut and fairly agile. I love it. No complaints.
  5. Good words by all. Yep, my intent was not to see how low I could go...it was the opposite. I made a big mistake. I HATE getting low on gas and never have run out...nor do I intend to. But I think that this was a good data point for the fuel level, the reading, and actually how much was in there and "usable."
  6. So just a curious note, that last night on the way home from work I got pretty low on fuel. I work way out of town where there are few gas stations. I was sweating making it back a little, but not too much as I was ~40 miles from the house and ~20 from civilization with the Miles To E: at 40. Expecting to almost "flame out" near my neighborhood I elected to exit early and get gas. I ended up taking a wrong turn and getting into part of Vegas with no gas stations (go figure). When I eventually got to one it was very close to home. I had gone ~40 miles but the Miles To E: said 20. So I know that the Miles to E: can change and adjust based on driving styles, maybe it was correct. :waiting: Additionally, the fuel level on the gauge was ON the E, so there was about 1/8th inch of yellow still on the screen. When I filled up, she took 15.5 gals (the tank holds 17.5). So I guess that the Miles to E is pretty close, but I am a little shocked that ON The E equals 2 gallons remaining in the tank. Food for thought.
  7. The C-Max looks too small for me. I don't want a Beetle or Focus...or Prius. I want a sweet sedan that gets great gas mileage! :banghead: Oh wait, I have a FFH! :shift:
  8. I am in the military. GOV fo rus means Govt Owned Vehicle. We use them for official business and long trips, etc. His mention of "the shop" inclines me to think he is referring to the base auto shop or vehicle shop, which is a basic level maintenance set-up for the GOV fleet. Tires, brakes, oil, etc. If that is he case, I'd be willing to bet that the guys in the shop have little clue with regard to the workings of a Hybrid.
  9. I have heard about these sorts of things, but mainly from Boxes put in at the car's inception, not after the fact. it is probably legit, but does seem a little fishy.
  10. Thanks for the report. I think that this may be the first we've ever heard of an RSS/CTA speaker issue.
  11. There are some Shark fin antennas out there. Heard they were okay. Also, with different sized tires/wheels, did you alter the speedo? The different rolling radius will change the speed, and may affect what the computer thinks it's doing for MPG. Good luck. Nice ride!
  12. Yes I know it's probably in the manual, but do you jump start the car with jumper cables like a normal car battery?
  13. Great Job, welcome to the club. Nice color choice BTW!
  14. I just wanted to report my findings on servicing my FFH at it's 5000 mi recommended service. Took the car in on Christmas Eve to the local Ford dealer where I bought it. Had overall a great experience! I also received a card in the mail from them for a free oil change and multi-point inspection. The FFH had 4500 miles and we are taking it on a trip this week, so I decided to get it in for the checkup. The manual lists multi-point inspection and rotate tires as the only two things that are recommended for service at this time. I (and the dealer) thought a tire rotate was premature, and we elected to not do it now, but to do it on the next one. Or I can do it myself at 7500 mi. I have access to a lift. I know the oil change timeframe is a huge debate, but here's why I think it's important to change it BY 5000 mi and why I did it at the service. The engine is breaking in, rings are setting and seals are sealing. I've always read / and believed, that the first oil change is the most critical. I know Ford says 10,000 miles OR annualy in the manual, but I think that may be a touch too long for the first oil change. Better safe than sorry I think. Besides, driving in the Vegas heat this past summer it tough on cars, and everything I read says that it's better to change oil sooner when driving in those conditions. Anyway, I had a good experience, had a great coupon (the whole thing ended up costing me $0.00), and I feel that it was important to have the critical Hybrid components and the car looked at by professionals since it came out of the factory and has been working hard for me since I drove it off the lot. Overall it was an hour of my time, she's got fresh oil, and everything has checked out mechanically. Good car!
  15. 38.0 today. 4000 miles total on the car. Mostly hwy miles.
  16. no squeals here. But it's Vegas and we've been 40-65 degrees F lately.
  17. This just happened to my wife today. She was driving solo and called me to let me know a BLIS warning came up on the dash with a beep or a bell. The drivers side rearview BLIS light stayed on. After shutting down at the next shopping store and coming back out 20-30 min later...all was normal and has stayed normal since. My first 'problem.'
  18. I got a credit card looking thingy with my factory code on it. Apparently this code will always be in the car's system, including any 2 others that I set.
  19. Exactly my point...I DON'T want to run out. Sooooo....when does it actually run out of gas? Can someone actually aswer this dilemma? :waiting:
  20. Okay guys, ha ha. :waiting: But I'm being serious! When do you run out of gas? I filled up the other day with the the 'miles to empty' at 20...that would logically tell me that I have about 3/4 of a gallon left right? No...After fill-up I only put in about 15 gal to full, and I believe the tank holds 17+ when I looked it up. So with that logic it would seem that the 'miles to empty' is a rough approximation, and the picture on the gas gauge is more accurate.
  21. I have not looked at the ACC meter with heat on, but it can't be that significant. The ICE is always producing heat. Sacrifice the juice it takes to turn on a little fan to bring in that heat, and I bet your overall MPG will look about the same.
  22. When does the car actually "flame out?" - Miles to Empty at 0? - Fuel color turns red? - Red fuel hits the absolute bottom?
  23. Okay, you are correct. I looked at it tonight on my way home in the dark. The speedo is definitely darker than everything else. Hmmm... I have mine set at a "happy medium" for both LCD and speedo, but there definitely is a difference.
