  1. Your dad needs some training. (me too) I have used my CD player twice. Discontinued my Sirius. Don't carry a cell phone except when isolated at 'the lake.' But....I do like my auto dimming mirror.
  2. My automatic Temp control works as bbf2530 indicates. My set points are in increments of one degree from 65 degrees up. But an increment of 5 degrees from 60 to 65. Is this 5 degree 'jump' normal?. It seems that sometimes I 'need' a set point between 60 & 65 degrees.
  3. Thanks for your post. On my non-hybrid 2010 Fusion I4 SEL, I did not have to disconnect the return cord in order to remove the cabin filter. The filter will just clear the cord. My filter was clean, like new except for a couple of mosquitoes. Regards, Bob B.
  4. Just in case anyone is wondering......the non-hybrid fusion can accomodate 10' planks with the trunk closed. I hauled three 2 X 8 X 10' planks in one load but needed a piece of carpet to protect the top of the dash. 9' planks would fit without using the dash. Regards, Bob B.
  5. Statistics aside. When passing a slower moving vehicle (or a line of holiday trailers/motorhomes) going in the same direction, on a two lane highway, I find DRLs a great benefit in seeing oncoming traffic. Drivers wake up real quickly when seeing oncoming lights in "their" lane. Regards from Canada.
  6. Frustrating for me too so I don't use that display. My 1993 Grand Marquis indicates a number.
  7. Yes, those are my thoughts too. I also removed the dealership license plate frame for the same reason.
  8. I had the same problem with a 1993 Grand Marquis. It became progressively worse until I had to deal with it. The problem turned out to be the brake light switch. This really surprised me and it was a cheap fix. I guess the brake light circuit enables the shift. Maybe a relay or some other gizmo.
  9. My thanks to all. The hair dryer and Goo-Gone did the job.
  10. I forgot to instruct my dealership to NOT apply their logo on my 2010 Fusion. This logo is clear plastic with black lettering and it is applied to the trunk lid, to the left of the license plate. Does anyone have a fix for this? I want it gone!
  11. Well, I have never seen that bracket installed. My 2010 Fusion was delivered with that bracket in a plastic bag in the trunk. (not needed in my location) If it is secured with pop rivets, they are easily drilled out. Aluminum rivets are very easy to drill and stainless steel more difficult. The same drill bit is used for Al and SS. Regards from Canada. Grey Cup Sunday.
  12. Thanks for your response. We do get a fair amount of snow here but not as much as in Calgary. I didn't think that you folks would ever see snow. Sorry to belabor the point regarding fog lamps not having a cover lense, but... If you get down on your hands and knees and with flashlight in hand, look throught the plastic (like expanded metal) beside the bulb and socket, you can see how the housing is like a funnel. This "funnel" has an opening at the back end. Wondering if this is to allow air into some area of the engine. If this housing funnel fills with wet snow, it will freeze in place. I guess that's not a big deal as long as the socket doesn't mind. The socket is exposed to rain. When bugs pack into that area and become baked, they will be hard to remove. Yes a cover lense would be great.
  13. I am very surprised (shocked) that the Fusion doesn't have fog lamp cover lenses. What is your experience with all kinds of stuff collecting in this area? I am thinking mostly of bugs. But dirt, leaves, snow and whatever can pack into this area. Regards from Edmonton.
  14. Yes, bumpy in general. Can feel every lump, bump and crack in the pavement. I thought that different tires might make some difference. Will stay with the Michelins until they are worn out, then do some Googling for replacements. The Grand Marquis also had self levelling air bag suspension (used to tow a sailboat). The Fusion is definately more "connected" to the ground. It goes exactly where it is aimed. I really like the Fusion. Only other complaint, cannot see much out of the rear window. But I appreciate the large trunk. Can't have it all! Now I see why a backup camera could be useful. Regards.
  15. Thanks Waldo for your fast response. Yes, I am finally in this century. I drove the Grand M for 16 years and would probably still be driving it except a tree fell on it. I have been driving it with the tree dent since Aug 1 with an acrylic sheet temporary driver side window. Before the Grand M, drove a 1978 LTD II for 15 years. Cars seem to last me forever!!! My "lumpiest ride" was a 1954 MG-TF. Also drove a 1954 XK-120 about 52 years ago. Sorry about the rambling. Old age. Regards.
  16. Well....I might be spoiled regarding my very comfortable ride. Goodyear TripleTreads on a 1993 Grand Marquis. Heh-heh-Heh. Hey, I'm an old man! My 2 day old Fusion was factory fitted with Michelin Pilot HX MXM4. Dot M30A DECX. I Googled these and they seem to be a very low end tire. Do the car manufacturers usually fit this quality to their cars? The ride seems a bit lumpy. Just wondering what other Fusion owners have as OEM tires. Regards from Canada.
  17. Yes, I am ordering the 2010 Fusion SEL from Edmonton AB. The brochure is Canadian. The Ford Canada website "car build" indicates cloth seats. Have to wonder if there are other differences between USA/Canadian Fusions!!
  18. Hopefully, my 2010 Ford Fusion I4 SEL will arrive this week. I expect to see leather only on the steering wheel. My sales brochure indicates that leather trimmed seats are an option. This is my first post. Hope that I have hit the correct keys!
