  1. So how does one get one of these? Just ask your local dealer?
  2. What is that? I don't see it in the manual. Do you mean pushing the "Auto" button? Yes, I use this, but you can tell when it's on because there's a red light on it. (I think this is what the manual refers to as "Dual Automatic Temperature Control", or DATC -- maybe that's what you're thinking of?) I'm saying the AC/Heat will go on all by itself, even if I do not have "Auto" depressed. I've had the car for a year and a half now, and it just started doing this.
  3. Yes, I have always controlled the heat/AC manually. What is the EATC? I'm not seeing anything in the manual. (And I don't have the built-in navigation if it has something to do with that.)
  4. In the past week or so, the AC/Heat has started turning on spontaneously. Sometimes it happens when I first start the car. Other times, it just comes on while I'm driving, even though I haven't pushed a single button or switch, or changed anything anywhere. Has anyone else experienced this? What the heck is going on? It's a year and half old, and I have about 13k miles.
  5. What do you think of the audio system?
  6. ^^^ Thanks for all the info. If I didn't already have a Fusion, I'd definitely spend the extra $$ for the MKZ. A lot harder to take the hit on selling a still-pretty-new car.
  7. ^^ Thanks. Here's what it gives me. I'd be surprised if I could actually get these prices, though:
  8. I love my Fusion Hybrid. It's a 2010, about 13k miles on it, still looks as good as new. Would it be worth it to move up to the MKZH? I don't have a good feel for how much money I could get for the Fusion, either trade-in or on the used-car market. I looked around the local used car market and didn't see any hybrids, just non-hybrid Fusions, and the Ford website also doesn't give the trade-in value of a 2010 hybrid. Anyone have a feel for what the value of this car is? Second, would it be worth it, in your opinion? Say it costs an additional $20k or so in cash. Am I basically getting the same core automobile, with a few extra luxury items tacked on? If there's nothing fundamentally "better" about the car in terms of build/quality, and it's just a matter of a few extra luxury items with a slightly more chic appearance, I'd be less inclined to spend the dough.
  9. I am definitely driving like a grandma now. This car has completely changed the way I drive. I used to be the guy doing 80-90 in the fast lane, now I plod along in the far right lane with the cruise control set at 59. I am constantly monitoring the mileage; just about everything I do is calculated to stretch it out. But what I really appreciate most is how much less stressful it is to drive slowly. Driving fast all the time is a *really* stressful way to live your life. So slow down, and CHILL.
  10. Over the course of almost 10k miles, I'm getting about 37 mpg on average. I'm in the SF Bay Area, where the weather is mild, but the ethanol is ever present. Also, my commute to work is less than 3 miles, which also puts a hit on the mpg (but more importantly, decreases overall gas consumption).
  11. Can someone point me to the instructions for doing this? thanks
  12. I just plug in my iPod -- it has music I know I want to hear, and there are no commercials whatsoever. If I want to hear new music, I can stream Pandora through my iPhone.
  13. Most worthless thing -- actually, worse than worthless, for me -- the satellite channels on the radio. I don't want to pay for satellite radio. I don't want it for free. Yet I am forced to cycle through the channels every time I want to change the radio...
  14. I have a related question: Suppose I plug something into the AC outlet, and it runs down the battery. Will I be unable to start the car?
  15. What tire pressure are you all using? I think the manual says 32-33 psi, but wouldn't you use a bit more if you were willing to sacrifice a little comfort for the extra mileage?
  16. Try to find out if the recall applies to your vehicle before you take your car in. Or else wait for a letter. I took mine in this week to get the fix, and when they ran the VIN, they said the recall didn't apply to mine. Waste of time.
  17. Ah - that refers to the ice-maker. Yours doesn't have one? Fergodsakes, man, how do you keep your drinks cold??
  18. I hear she's pretty hot. I tried to ask her out for a drink once, but she thought I was asking for a sync.
  19. Twice now in the last thousand miles or so, I got a spontaneous request from the car voice lady asking if I wanted to run a Vehicle Health Report. I'm sure I didn't do anything to provoke it. Is this supposed to happen? I declined both times. Should I have said yes? Does it mean there's a problem?
  20. What, your Fusion didn't come with the automatic ice-maker? How, pray tell, do you properly mix your cocktails on the commute home?
  21. Just turn on the AC or something until the battery run downs.
  22. I don't use or want the satellite stations. But if I want to go from FM to USB, say, I have to cycle through them on the radio menu, hitting the "Media" button several times over. That means I have to take my eyes off the road for that extra second or so it takes to do so. So my question: Is there any way to delete the satellite stations from the radio menu, so that I don't have to cycle through them every time I want to change from FM to USB or vice versa?
  23. MOST ANNOYING WEBSITE EVER. First, it has a talking voice you cannot stop without turning off the sound on your computer. Then, it makes you enter your personal info as if it's going to give you a price quote. And after you enter your info, it does NOT actually give you a price quote....
  24. The only factor you have to estimate is the ICE MPG; everything else is known. And the ICE MPG probably isn't that far off from what it would be for a pure-ICE car of the same weight, engine capacity, year, etc. So find a similarly-modeled, modern ICE car, and use the MPG of that model as an estimate of the ICE MPG. (Don't know if there's another Atkinson-engine car out there, but that can't be a *huge* difference -- just add a couple MPGs.) Personally, I drive a lot of highway miles, so it wouldn't be surprising to me. I would agree that the first part of that (the torque assist) is a complication; it essentially means there is no clear division between ICE miles and EV miles, in which case the original question isn't well-defined to begin with. I don't know if it comes on often enough to make my approximation inapplicable though. As for the second part (ICE shut-down during stand still), that doesn't affect the analysis, because you are getting neither ICE miles nor EV miles while the car is in standstill. (Remember, the OP's question is how many ICE miles is he driving, not how much money is he saving.) Anyway, I simply offered an estimate -- i.e., an approximation. It's better than nothing.
