Yep, the same thing happened to me. They replaced it and everything has been good since. I have driven a few thousand miles since and no issues.

I guess they think its a bad point in the wire harness. They are going to order a new one, but in the meantime they have rerouted the suspected bad point to a different one on the harness. If the problem continues, then they msidiagnosed. If it dosen't come back they will replace the harness. Whew...

Well...the car is in the shop now and has been there all day. They have been on the phone with engineering and servcie support for Ford. They know the error code now but they can't figure out how to fix it. Am I the only one with the mysterious problems? Last time it was the blue smoke thing. Kirkster

This problem hasn't occured since I brought the car in on Tuesday. A mystery...

On Sunday morning i jump into my Hybrid turn the key and a bunch of warning lights come on along with dinging tones telling me of brake system failure. I shut the car off and turned the key back on and everything was normal. I drove around off an on all day and everything was fine. On Monday morning I jump in the car to go for the day and the same thing. WTF? I called the dealer and made an appointmnet to bring my car in today. I jumped in hte car this morning to bring it in and it dosen't happen. Dealer said he would check for error codes and guess what? There were none. They told me if it happens again just bring the car straight in, no need for an appointmnet. I hate these kind of issues. Anyone else experience this one? Kirkster

When I went to the list of E&G dealers on thier website, it pulled up a place up that was the closest to me, so I called them up and mad an appointment. It took a couple of hours. The dealer ordered the parts, they called me when that had arrived (a couple of days later) and i amde the appointment for the install. I still get a lot of complements from folks on hte grille. I get most of them from the staff at the dealership where I get my car serviced. Hope this helps! kirkster

Thanks...it been a couple of weeks and things are working great. I have floored the car a couple of times and not a hint of smoke.
-
Yes you do. If you try and put the car in gear without having the key in the ignition, it will shut off. It will alos shut off it you wait too long after getting in the car that was remote started. Another handy anti-theft feature.

The oil burning problem is gone. I floored that thing at least 5 times today and no more oil burning. I need to point out that when flooring it, the engine is behaving differently than before. It seems more controlled. When I floored it when the oil was burning, it felt like the engine was going to blow. It reved very high and seemed to have a lot of kick. The car accelerates good now but not as hard. The computer was reprogrammed based on a TSB I quoted in an earlier post. Could that have been Fords "fix" for the issue? I checked the oil level and its at the top of the fill range. I'm floored. I thought it was something esle for sure.

Unplugged...you get your MKZ Hybrid yet? I wish they would have had those when I was shopping for a new car. Kirkster

Ok...I got the car back this morning. here is what was done. They tested the car and confirmed the condition. The EEC was tested and P0301 & P0130 were in memory. They pinpoint tested and the ignition system was tested . Coil #1 was stress tested and it failed. The PCM need reprogramming to latest Cal per TSB 10-17-11. Plug #1 and the coil were replaced. System was retested and the car was road tested. I haven't stomped on the gas yet, but willl do so this evening. The car does seem to run better, but they coule be like thinking your car runs better after it gets washed.

I think the owners manual says only two more clicks after the first one to prevent against accidental fuel spillage.

The check engine light came on after I let up on the throttle. If there was a misfire, I felt no evidence of it. I've been reading a lot of very good comments from folks on this. This has been one of the more mysifying car problems i've had. The dealder is doing whaterver they can so far but they even admitted that they don't know a lot about how the Hybrids work form a diagnostic perspective. That's comforting... :banghead: A lot of folks have been commenting about the smoke and saying, I wouldn't worry about it, monitor the situation, etc. Bottom line is that when I told the dealer about it they said that's not normal and bring the car in so we can figure out what's going on with it. It's still there...

Well, they are suppsed the install the ignition coil today and then test the vehical to see if that did the trick. My loaner car is a 2009 Fusion with no options. I miss my hybrid. Stay Tuned.

Don't know what color smoke cmoes from unburned fule, but mine was blue and very thick. I think the service guys are responding to the "quick" remedy and not the real cause. I think I may be back a couple of times on this one.
-
Good theory except that the smoke was blue and very thick. Another theory to ponder is could the misfire been caused by oil getting into the cylinder and causing the spark plug to misfire? This would explain both the blue smoke and the engine code.
-
Here is what the dealer told me. The error code they got when the check engine light came on indicated a misfire problem realted to the ignition coil. They have ordered that part, will replace it and retest to see if that fixes the problem. I'm not quite sure how that relates to the blue smoke upon hard acceleration, but then again I'm not a mechanic. Stay tuned

No word yet. Car has been in the shop since 7AM. Stay tuned fro updates.

Disregard that. I just got an e-mail from them. Car goes back on Monday. I'll let everyone know what they say.

i'm over 700 miles pr. tank. Car has 20K miles. Average is 43.0 MPG. I go so long between fills that I forget to put gas in it.
-
Somethings up...dealer isn't returning my calls or e-mail.

[ I thought the overfill thing for sure. I was right there when they checked it. It's not overfilled. I checked it again when I got home after letting the car sit. This dealership is top notch, customer service is really a big deal to them. I'm sure they will get it taken care of. What concerns me about this is that I have read about this same problem with Fusion Hybrids elsewhere on the net. Could be a bigger issue overall. Well.. what's the fix for the blow-by problem, a new engine? Could the cat converter and other emission parts be affected by this? quote name=Grey' date='15 September 2010 - 07:38 AM' timestamp='1284554324' post='31313] Sure sounds like blow-by then. Perhaps the rings did not seat well and the cylinder walls are glazed. Or, it was overfilled and they didn't want to admit it.

Thick Blue cloud. Car has 20k miles and the oil has been changed by the dealer at regular intervals as specified by Ford. it's not water vapor. Not a freak occurance either. It happened twice upon hard acceleration. A bascially new car should not have blue smoke pouring out of the exhaust and have a blinking check enginge light when you press on the gas pedal. Car goes to the dealer on Monday.

I posted earlier about this oil burning/check engine light issue on my 2010 Hybrid. A couple of you wrote to have the oil level checked. Well.. I took the car back to the dealer and they checked the levels. Everything was good. I have to leave the car for a few days next week so they can firgure this out. Ford is giving me another car to drive. The service guys said" I don't have a clue as to what can be causing this, but it's not good." i told him a few others other there have reported the same issue. He said, "Ford hasn't issued any TSB's on it so...we will have to see, this is a new one". I don't want to get ahead of myself but the last thing I want is for them to tear apart a virtually brand new engine or even replace it. What remedies do i have a a consumer? If this tures out to be a really bad issue does Ford have to buy the car back? I really have a bad feeling about this.
-
I took the car back. It's not the oil level. Tehy have not seen any servcie bullitelns from Ford about the issue either. I have to bring the car in next week and leave it for the whole day. I'm not having a good feeling about this.
