It gets better. I live in an area with a bunch of hills which kills my gas mileage, but I've been averaging 39 mpg on this tank. I have about 1300 miles on the car so far.

Man, I'm glad I live in FL and don't have to deal w/that hehe

I actually have a really good story about my trade in value. None of my friends believe me till they see the paperwork. I ordered a 502A FFH at 30,800 which isn't an amazing deal, so I decided I would push on the trade-in. Blue book on my trade-in was $1,200 in perfect condition being sold by a dealer and $700 for a trade-in. At the age and miles of the car (312k), the condition of the car didn't really effect trade-in blue book value, which is good, since the car had multiple dents. There were no mechanical issues with the car; however. I went in to get a quote on the car, with a goal of getting about $500 and free window tinting. I was quoted $2,000 and still pressed andn got free window tinting. I was ecstatic but didn't let on to the dealer at all and when my car finally came in, I noticed on the paper that the trade-in value had actually increased to $2,300. I look at the ridiculously high trade-in as helping sweeten the purchase price by about $1,300, so I figure I now got the car for $29,500 w/a $1k trade-in, which is $350 above invoice. I won't say the dealer, but if you look around the 'Net for my posts you will know. I was extremely happy with them, and will definitely be back to them if I decide to buy another Ford.

Yep, not here in Northern FL either.

My dealer said they're not allowed to sell hybrids unless they have properly trained techs in the shop.

I do have the Nav system. The website says I have 3.0 installed, so I guess I'm good. I sure wish Ford would let us know what the point of the update was for those of us w/the Nav system. Does Ford ever release updates for the Nav system? The POI system sure as hell needs work.
-
How do I redownload the update? It says I'm up to date and I dont' see a button to force it to download. I upgraded last night at about 11 PM EDT
-
I installed it last night, I have a 502a FFH, and since they're not allowing those of us w/the nav system to access the new features mentioned, I am wondering if there's anything in this update for us? Anyone seen any new features?

Oh, forgot to say, drove 100 miles (exactly) through the mountains then back to Greenville. 50.3 mpg according to the trip computer, but I think it is a bit optimistic by about 3 mpg.

I finally figured out how to get my sunglasses in there yesterday. The Travel Link traffic info is so limited as to be pointless. Unless you are in a major metro area, there is no traffic info. The weather map has been really nice. Yeah, had the AC running the entire time. Probably won't get too many chances to see how much it lowers the gas mileage until October or so. Did my first fill up today. Averaged 34.1 mpg with mostly US Highway driving. Did not really adjust my driving style to the car, and the girlfriend had the trunk filled with suitcases for the 4 day trip. (don't know why)

I picked up my 502A FFH on Tuesday and today took it for a 400 mile drive. Due to the holiday weekend traffic on the interstates and not wanting to push the engine too hard during the break-in period, I stuck to US Highways, using the Nav system to figure it all out. I got 36.8 mpg over the course of the drive. A few comments: The Nav system is nice, but cannot compete with even a low end TomTom in terms of ease of use. There is no option for "POI near Destination," or at least I didn't see it today. Searching for Shopping POIs is unnecessarily difficult, as you must figure out what category of shopping the store you are looking for is. I know there are ways to search for places by name, but we were looking for either a WalMart or Target along our route, and using voice commands this took a while to figure out. The Nav System will tell you to turn right or left while showing a picture that clearly says to go straight.. WTF?!?! The car has plenty of power to pass other cars when necessary. Maybe it's just how I sit, but I wish the driver's seat was about 1/2 inch further to the right. The car is incredibly quiet at highway speeds. Was the sunglasses case designed for child sunglasses? I have normal sized Oakley Flak Jackets or whatever they're called, and they don't even begin to fit in there. The Sony Sound system is awesome, just plain awesome. The anti-lock brakes work okay in a panic stop situation. They generally kept the wheels from locking up, and the stopping distance from 65 was impressive. (There was a deer.) --- So overall, I hate the GPS, but will learn to live with it and its idiosyncrasies. Aside from that the car is awesome.

Picked mine up yesterday. Silver, w/Stone leather interior, 502A package. 20% Window tint. She's is a beauty! :headspin: :happy feet: :headspin: :happy feet: :headspin: :happy feet: :headspin:

During production, you can only expect 3 or 4 updates. Once the car ships and enters the US, your dealer can tell you where the car is within a few hundred miles, since the system updates when the car passes certain points on the rail line.

Sounds like me hehe

If you have a VIN, can you look online for status?

Nope, not currently. You can call Ford Customer service and get updates. -
What is the phone number I should call? My dealer is starting to get annoyed w/me emailing him, hehe...

great... hope my car got shipped out before the plant got shut down.

Probably 2-4 weeks after May 18th, depending on if there are any factory holds placed on the car, and your distance from Hermosillo.

Just moving the conversation from the previously thread-jacked topic to here. Has anyone hooked up third party (Viper, Python, etc) alarms and/or remote start systems to their Hybrids? Any special considerations that had to be made for the hybrid's ignition sequences? Any reason to do a full replacement of the factory alarm or should I consider just getting a remote start package? Also, is there any way to get an integrated Keyfob/Key like the factory key for these aftermarket alarm systems?

So if I got the 5901, I wouldn't have that feature. To be honest, as long as the AC is sufficiently strong, I can deal with being hot for a minute or two before it cools off. Although from a gadget perspective it would be pretty cool to have the remote start. I'm going to wait to see how well it works on the FFH or MMH before I decide to purchase a remote start solution. Maybe we should move this to a different thread? -
2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid 1445.7 Miles on Single Tank
NewNole2001 replied to svjim's topic in General Discussion
While the way they drove the car may not have been realistic (90 degrees w/windows up and no AC), they did drive on public roads that were never closed for the driving, so I'd say if someone was really dedicated to saving gas they could do it. As long as it is in the 70s, I would be willing to drive w/the windows cracked.. if only just to try to get that kind of mileage. -

Ok, that sounds cool, so now, how does that work? Do you press a different button, or does it just know it's raining? -

How does the 5901 work with the factory alarm and everything? -
Yeah, I had read that page a few weeks ago, but I was under the impression that Ford is being much more aggressive in its attempts to keep the car in EV mode than Toyota has been w/the Prius. Am I wrong here?
