I seriously doubt a run flat can be repaired. I would love run flats. They will be my next tire. I drive 55 per day one way to work. I go through North St. Louis (highest crime rate according to analysis of FBI data from a few years ago). Then I go through East St. Louis. Right now I would have to stop and wait for assistance on a cold night on the side of busy urban I-70. I have them priced in a another thread from Bridgestone (their best tire) for about $900 out the door.

License Plate Brackets ?
stlouisgeorge replied to stlouisgeorge's topic in Accessories & Modifications
The annual "your tires are underinflated warning(!)" is a rite of passage every Fall.. Panic, then realizing it happened 12 months ago! I was thinking I would adjust my own tires and pathetically was fumbling coins in 30 degrees in pitch dark near my gas station. Of course I dropped the stem cover immediately (took 10 minutes with my lights on the car set to bright to find it). Ugg.. The dealer took care of it with a very expensive looking, fool-proof (and my God they were fools..) device. I do have a "slime inflator". I'll probably use that next time. -
License Plate Brackets ?
stlouisgeorge replied to stlouisgeorge's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Well.. its all done. After enjoying my third free Auto Butler carwash, I presented myself at the 1970's era service shop at Awfullberg North Ford (remember when you couldn't just drive in to meet the service manager?). On my demand, they happily threw one flunky, and then later an actual mechanic (when our flunky was perplexed) out to put on my plates. After consulting a real mechanice, "Flunky" put on the front plate using with the correct hardware using a powered tool (I will never be able to sell the car because the screws are so tight). The bracket is upside down compared to your photo. He is "flunky" because he was dressed like a mechanic but, like me scratched his head over the dual 3-hole guides on the top corners of the rear plates and why the screws I got didn't fit the front bracket. The real mechanic used the [self tapping] threading screws to securely attach the rear plate. Given the lights, camera, and trunk-open button all right over the rear plate, I am not sure a bracket would help or hurt :)) He mentioned how the rubber nubs on the bottom side of the rear plate acceptor have all but eliminated mysterious rattles those poor hapless customers have experienced (usually soon into the second month of ownership - a week after taking off the paper plates and replacing with sheer metal ones). The tire pressures on my "green" Michelin tires on delivery were 5-6 pounds over (about 41lbs). The mechanic put the pressure properly down to spec 35lbs. - I will get razzed, but I implore everyone everywhere to use ONLY the tire pressure on your driver door sticker (at least for your factory wheels and tires). Try to close your eyes and imagine the understanding looks of a Ford or Michelin engineer as you explain how great it is to not follow their simple instruction. This 2017 car with all driver assist technology is well engineered in regards to assist involving wheels, brakes and tires. Tires and their proper pressure (maximizing rubber surface with road) are critical. For example, with the Ford Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go your tire contact area is critical to braking results (your computer assumes your tire pressure is at least ballpark to their spec)f in a near accident (had a "pre pressurize the brake calipers" event last week). When the high-speed feature kicks in to assist you around a tight corner (feel it in the steering wheel?) and then keep you crossing the white line on the right (as centripetal forces push you out of the lane). The Fusion assertively took over for a half second and steered me back in the lane. I was going around a tight turn on an exit about 65MPH in a 45MPH and drifted a out a tiny bit. Amazing. -
License Plate Brackets ?

Looking good! I got 4 of those threaded screws from the dealership. That's it. On the front bracket the screws go right through the two holes on the top of the bracket. Guess I'm missing some hardware.. Looks like I can install the rear ones though. (and without a drill!). Thanks -
License Plate Brackets ?
stlouisgeorge replied to stlouisgeorge's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I am hoping not to have to drill holes in my car but.. ( can't find any reference in my FFH manual concerning license plates (other than the light bulb and trunk release). So a question.. There are 6 "guide" ("drill here") circles on the car where the license plate would attach to the rear bumper. Three on each upper corner. Do the sheet metal (style) screws my dealer gave me tap the matching two holes? I'm not getting out a drill.. ..yet -
License Plate Brackets ?
stlouisgeorge replied to stlouisgeorge's topic in Accessories & Modifications
OK. That makes sense. I was in a hurry to accept the car (missed a razor blade(!) on the leather passenger seat..). The salesguy gave me a plastic bag with 4 small screws. You save me a trip to the dealer. Thanks! -
Of course my dealer did not install a rear license plate bracket. Does anyone know the official part number? On the Ford Parts website I show the front one, but no rear one. Will this work on the rear of my 2017 FFH? Front is part # 17A385A

12v Battery Issue on 2017 Fusion Hybrid
stlouisgeorge replied to rmsaunders6's topic in Batteries & Charging
Can you give some first hand knowledge of how the buyback program works? I could google it, but firsthand experience might be more useful. Thanks -
Driver leather seats do this. Absolutely normal. My 5 day old FFH Platinum seat is already doing this. This has happened on every single leather driver seat I have owned. If there is a way to prevent this I haven't found it. Good luck.

Trunk (cargo) liner/tray - any available?
stlouisgeorge replied to johncanfield's topic in 2017-Current Ford Fusion Hybrid
Ouch! I would recommend pulling out this liner and laying it out in front of the fireplace for an hour (or put it in a bathtub with the hottest water you can get from the water heater. The plastic material should go back to its original shape. -
Trunk (cargo) liner/tray - any available?
stlouisgeorge replied to johncanfield's topic in 2017-Current Ford Fusion Hybrid
OMG. I just did a full review of all this. (Am I dreaming someone might actually benefit?). Forgive my dry wit.. A Study of 2017 FFH Floor Mat Options A Gallery comparing Ford standard, $120 Ford Rubber Mats (optional), and some nice mats I got from WeatherTech.com The only trunk liner to consider (and the only one available for the Hybrid outside of Ford?) from WeatherTech.com. $89.95 (without coupons, tax, etc). -
I remember when PC Magazine reviewed $4,000 IBM PC's with 1MB(!) hard drives, software and printers (and that was about it.) Now they review anything.. A PC Magazine review of the 2017 FFH with some glaring mistakes a "friend of mine" corrected in the comments...

Exclusive Features of a Fusion Platinum?
stlouisgeorge replied to stlouisgeorge's topic in 2017-Current Ford Fusion Hybrid
I have been using adaptive cruise with stop and go for a week now. It is fantastic. The stop and go is AMAZING. Just like automatic parking it takes a leap of faith -- but it does work. You do have to remember to actually drive the car when you get off the highway. When my 12 year old reaches 16 the totally autonomous 2021 Fusion will be out.. -
I have had my 2017 FFH Platinum for 10 days. Off the lot the "1Up/Down" drivers window feature didn't work. Then for one time it worked. Now it doesn't work. I wonder if this is related to other, similar settings which can be reset using this procedure on page 262 of the manual: To restore the settings, do the following: 1. Apply the parking brake. 2. Shift into park (P) or neutral (N). 3. Switch off all accessories. 4. Press the brake pedal and start your vehicle. 5. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. While the engine is warming up, complete the following: Reset the clock. See Audio System (page 314). Reset the power windows bounce-back feature. See Windows and Mirrors (page 81). Reset the radio station presets. See Audio System (page 314). 6. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.

Floor mat cornucopia? Why not. I always buy WeatherTech.com mats since they are a perfect fit, they cover much more area then the factory mats, and are easy to clean. They cost much more than the carpet rags Ford puts in there. For a start, and in full disclosure, I got this factory option (luxurious all rubber mats) on my 2017 FFH: ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS FR/RR 120.00 Getting those was mandatory -- I bought off the lot. Next I drank the rest of the family egg nog and bought these: WeatherTech FloorLiner - Ford 2017 Fusion - 1st & 2nd Row - Color Black $179.90 Cargo Liner: Cargo/Trunk Liner for Ford 2017 Fusion. Fusion Engine: Hybrid $89.95 (Please note the qualifier for Hybrid trunk. As of 01/01/2017 there is no cargo mat for a Ford Fusion Energi). Enjoy! George [update] After several weeks I have taken out the Weathertech.com liners for the passenger and back row. The optional all rubber mats from Ford labeled "ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS FR/RR" on the window sticker cover more area than the Weathertechs. Their luxurious real rubber and deep channels make them a bit harder to clean, but they take a lot of slush. The odd thing is I would STILL buy the set of for just to get the driver mat. It goes way up behind the pedals (see photo - other driver mats in gallery even don't come close).. That one mat is worth $109 right there to me. Post pictures of other mats if you like (or hate) your mats. The driver one is the most critical IMHO.

Three options for a drivers floor mat in a 2017 FFH. In the upper left is the Ford OEM Optional "ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS $120" driver mat. In the upper right is the WeatherTech.com 3D laser etched mat. Excellent coverage for a salty shoe. The OEM factory rug mat (lower right) is no match.-

This is what the rubber Ford OEM Optional "ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS $120" driver mat looks like after 4 days of salt. This "heavy duty" mat is no match for my salt covered feet unfortunately. WeatherTech.com to the rescue. -

Ford optional OEM "ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS $120" are shown in the upper left. WeatherTech.com mats on top right. Ford original carpet mats on the bottom. WeatherTech.com really falls behind here. I stayed with the Ford Rubber one (upper left)-

This is a very sexy picture. The WeatherTech.com laser 3D mat covers way up behind the pedals. My salt-encrusted Ford OEM Optional "ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS $120" driver mat does not cover nearly as well. The WeatherTech.com model is hard plastic (OEM is rubber).-

Passenger side with Ford OEM Optional "ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS $120" This rubber mat has better coverage than the WeatherTech.com mat (so I am using the Ford one instead)
