  1. I have been following this thread since I found it a few weeks ago bothered about my car not going into EV also. I am not that techie so didn't want to try to process described worried I would mess something up and cause bigger problems. I took it to Ford awhile back and they gave me a print out that said that the same as another posted in that they won't do anything until they get an answer from engineering department. I was driving my mother to the airport yesterday and at 49F the gas engine stayed on and seemed to be at high idle (like it was charging) while sitting at stop lights. While it kept the heat blowing good I think it really cuts into the fuel economy. After watching this video I think I will try it now.
  2. I would set cruise at 65 mph in mines and get 40 mpg.
  3. What is the typical life of the HV battery if car is never stored? I'm looking to get another 2010-2012 and wondered should I worry about older batteries? I have previously have owned a few Fusion/Milan hybrids but never had a problem with the HV battery. I did have a 05 Honda Accord hybrid that suffered HV issues from storage (sitting at auction lot) that had diminished capacity like you describe.
  4. Congrats! What was the temps when you were getting 16-19 miles. During this last winter my gauge would read 13 miles at full charge and I would get a few more but only driving without heat
  5. Yeah thanks I passed but wasn't completely because of the issue. In my spare time I like to figure out things that others pass on. Keeps me out of trouble and from accumulating excess savings lol
  6. @lolder No I can't it is out of state. I like to think of the best and worst case scenario so I can kinda be prepared.
  7. I am looking at an out of state car at auction that has the yellow wrench and ! STOP SAFELY NOW illuminated on the dash. Sorry not a lot of other info but wondering could that just be the throttle valve/body issue or could it be more extensive ($$$) Thanks
  8. Wow I am impressed with these stories. I briefly owned a 2010 Milan hybrid (sold in a week) with 115K and was nervous about the HV battery when I bought it but after reading these stories I will not worry on the next one I buy. My city uses them as municipal vehicles so I assumed they were very robust because we have the worst weather, pot holes and salt!
  9. Hey how far can you guys get on EV at what speed and outside temps? I have experience with Escape hybrids and 1 Accord hybrid but this is completely different to me. Actually just got a 2013 Fusion Energi for my parents but it's systems operations are like night and day to this one. I went through the owners manuals and the tutorial on the dash and learned ALOT more info. Funny I don't see a lot of these privately owned locally on the road or for sale but our municipalities have been using them for personnel vehicles.
  10. Thanks a lot for the input. The more I drive it I think the car doesn't have any issues its more of the cold. Last night it was 10F warmer and I was able to (egg shell) get about 7 blocks I think couldn't have been more but couldn't tell when the gas engine came on because it went into idle not revving because of my speed. I had an Escape hybrid and I was able to get up to 30 mph on electric. Maybe because of the cold I can only get 20-25 mph on this and have to pull into the right slower lane.
  11. Update I have been driving it around. It seems the battery charges and the car will go into EV mode but the maximum distance thus far has been 4 blocks.
  12. I just received a 2010 Mercury MIlan hybrid with 111k from auction in NC. The truck that delivered broke down somewhere in between for a few days and it has been record breaking cold locally. When it arrived the 12v battery was dead so we used a jump box to get it going. I let car idle for awhile to charge batteries. Took it on a short trip and car would only be in EV at stop and gas engine would cut on immediately at acceleration no matter how light. Car drive likes it is a non hybrid besides the EV mode at stop when it shows HVB at 0. Could the HV battery be frozen from the single digit temps and sitting? Or could it be defective or there is another issue? In the few miles I drove no codes were displayed. Car been at auction since 10/16 so that's 2 months of sitting.
  13. Will the car do this if it has been sitting awhile? I just got a 2010 and it will not go into EV mode but no error messages. It drives like a normal car but will shut off engine at stops.
