Sounds like GM will be taking a cue from Ford and using the same basic power-train in multiple vehicles (Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Energi, CMax Hybrid, CMax Energi). Spreads out the development/production cost over more vehicles.

It takes more than just some oil on the parts it also takes oil pressure to keep the parts from rubbing against each other and causing extra wear. Watch the oil pressure light on a conventional engine and it usually stays on for a second or so after key is turned to start even if it was recently running. This is because the the oil pump is engine driven and it does not produce pressure until the engine is turning. A significant amount of engine wear occurs during the starting process. I've wondered what hybrids engines do to minimize this starting wear. I did find this Ford patent for a electric oil pump which would start the pump and verify pressure before starting the engine but I don't think the FFH uses an electric pump. http://www.google.com/patents/US20130124022

Do you think the 60 Minutes story I linked above is rigged? BTW it was done by DARPA http://www.darpa.mil/default.aspx Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency on a Chevy Impala with OnStar
-
Yes, they have. Watch here http://www.cbsnews.com/news/car-hacked-on-60-minutes/ It has been done using a cellular connection. There is a known bug in some of the radios used for services like OnStar and SYNC. Also read this http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/2015/02/08/report-cars-vulnerable-wireless-hacking/23094215/

I was thinking of starting a similar topic. "Who has high miles on your FFH" and what repairs have been needed after the original Ford warranty ended? I have 73K on my 2010 and no problems. I purchased it recently with 70K but the CarFax report showed no major repairs. It'll be interested to see who has the highest miles.

If purchased, you pay full price of car and then get the credit next year when you file your 1040. If your credit is more than you paid in taxes you can NOT carry over to the next year. States may have different rules Georgia only has a credit on Electric only (not plugin hybrids) but they do allow you to carry over any remaining credit into future years.

Since 2011, has to be plugin hybrid or all electric to get the US federal credit. Either Energi model should get the tax break see link http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxphevb.shtml

It's mainly concerned with the high voltage wiring / safety but you still may want to take a look at this since you are making so many changes http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9772-2015-fusion-hybrid-energi-publications/?p=94563

Here is a highly theoretical analysis that concludes a rear spoiler on a generic sedan can reduce drag by 1.7% http://waset.org/publications/10504/a-numerical-study-on-rear-spoiler-of-passenger-vehicle But I'm glad we haveTonyHzNV, Ford doesn't need to spend Millions on wind tunnels and thousands of hours testing, TonyHzNV can tell us by just looking at the spoiler. ;)
-
Who said it has a "great effect"? All we said is that a rear spoiler "can" reduce drag on some cars if it is well designed. Only Ford or someone who has put the Fusion in a wind tunnel with and without the spoiler knows for sure. You can see from the video above posted by GrySql that small things do make a difference. They make enough difference that Ford spends many, many hours on the small details.

The PhysLink says "Some cars, like the Ferrari F1 cars, have them front and back; and since they are probably the most scientifically advanced wheeled transportation, I'll use them for the discussion." Obviously there are different types of spoilers and one for a sedan is designed differently than the one on a F1 racer. Wikipedia tells how a properly designed rear spoiler can decrease aerodynamic drag on a sedan or hatchback http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoiler_%28automotive%29 "a spoiler can still be beneficial. This is because many vehicles have a fairly steep downward angle going from the rear edge of the roof down to the trunk or tail of the car which may cause air flow separation. The flow of air becomes turbulent and a low-pressure zone is created, increasing drag and instability (see Bernoulli effect). Adding a rear spoiler could be considered to make the air "see" a longer, gentler slope from the roof to the spoiler, which helps to delay flow separation "

Do you have a Internet reference for this?

Diesel engines don't have a throttle but Atkinson cycles engines (what's in the FFH) do still have a throttle. The Atkinson throttle will just be much more open at idle than a conventional engine.
-
Also note that wind resistance goes up based upon the speed squared. So if you double your speed from say 40 to 80 MPH the energy required to overcome the wind resistance goes up by a factor of 4.

Is it one from seller wiibayauctions? That's a great price but their descriptions don't say they are official Ford manuals.

Has anyone used the Engineering Test Mode http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6749-engineering-test-mode/and its instantaneous fuel level reading (displayed to a tenth of a percent) to determine when their fuel gauge gets to exactly 100% full?
