Won't run in EV mode, ICE kicks in immediately.
Automate replied to markwilson66's topic in 2010-2012 Fusion Hybrid
I'm having the same problem with my 2010. Is anyone having this problem with a 2011 or 2012? -
Sounds like maybe the dealer has not upgraded the firmware to the latest version in all the computer modules. http://forscan.org with a OBD scanner is very helpful for troubleshooting. It even tells you if any of the modules do not have latest firmware.

See my post here http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/12416-ac-not-working-where-do-i-start-on-a-hybrid-compressor/?do=findComment&comment=108124 Same method can be used to view a lot of info about the compressor such as commanded speed and actual current draw

AC not working. Where do i start on a hybrid compressor?
Automate replied to jerzstyle00's topic in 2010-2012 Fusion Hybrid
You can also get a good quality OBD scanner such as the OBDLink MX that can read the MS-CAN bus and the free https://forscan.org/ software and see the actual temperature the sensor is sending. -
Well, I got another letter from Ford. This one said Ford would provide me a free rental car until a replacement passenger airbag is available. I keep my FFH but they recorded the mileage and I can't drive it while I have the free rental car. Replacement airbag should be available before the end of the year.

My 2010 FFH was included in this June 2016 recall for the passenger airbag. Last year (2017) I got an updated notification in the mail saying that no one should sit in the front passengers seat until the recall work is performed and the part needed for the recall would not be available until Spring 2018. Anyone else get this? Since Spring is almost over, I just checked the owner.ford.com site with my VIN and it does not mention not using the passenger seat and says the car is safe to drive. Did Ford change their position on the safety of this? BTW, I live in Georgia so pretty hot and humid (this increases the failure rate of the suspect airbags).

Here is another article about it http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/04/10/fords-new-hybrid-police-car-is-designed-to-protect-and-save-money.html Won't be a speedster but it is tuned different than your family FFH. Notice, "It can also operate in pure electric mode up to 60 mph over short distances, giving it a small amount of stealth capability." kind of like the Energi. Also, "but after five seconds of hard driving it shifts into pursuit mode to ratchet up its responsiveness", probably allowing the motor to draw more current from the batteries than a normal FFH. Battery life will be reduced when driven in this mode.

My 2010 just went over 100K. I purchased it used with 75K. Only problems have been a bad fuel injector and a broken drivers inside door handle, both repaired myself.

Cross Traffic System Fault
Automate replied to cjn-md's topic in Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies
Torque Pro is good for creating custom dashboards but for troubleshooting problems FORScan is the way to go. Torque does not even check the MSCAN bus so it would never see the actual errors you are having. -
Cross Traffic System Fault

Make sure you get one that can read the MSCAN bus. This post shows which bus the modules are on http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=970&p=3472&hilit=hybrid#p8536 and the Obstacle Detection Modules are on the MSCAN You can go with a cheap scanner with a mechanical switch but I would get a OBDLink MX. -
No, this is not even a CVT transmission, no belts and no planetary gear. It's similar to a manual transmission with electric motors added to synchronize engine and gear speeds to eliminate the clutch and possibly the friction cones on gear synchronizers. A computer will be used to perform the actual gear shifting and matching gear speeds.

"Joshua D. Brown, of Canton, Ohio, died in the accident May 7 in Williston, Florida, when his car's cameras failed to distinguish the white side of a turning tractor-trailer from a brightly lit sky and didn't automatically activate its brakes, according to government records obtained Thursday." http://bigstory.ap.org/article/ee71bd075fb948308727b4bbff7b3ad8/self-driving-car-driver-died-after-crash-florida-first

How To Get 80-100 MPG on the HWY in FFH/CMAX Hybrid
Automate replied to ptjones's topic in Fuel Mileage
Just came across a story today claiming a Stirling cycle engine that gets 58 mpg in an F-150 and 100 miles per gallon in a smaller SUV! It also uses hybrid technology, but rather than supplementing the ICE the Stirling replaces the ICE. The Stirling engine is designed to have physical dimensions similar to a 4 cylinder ICE. http://www.khou.com/features/san-antonino-man-has-engine-that-gets-100-mpg/242673922 http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2016/06/15/man-builds-100mpg-engine-using-200-year-old-technology/?intcmp=hpff -

Sync software upgrade (Gen1)
Automate replied to Automate's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Some Sync (Gen1) users have been getting an update to version 4.6. http://fordsyncforum.com/index.php?/topic/5118-sync-46-is-heresort-of/ Anyone seeing this in their ford owners site? What is the file name that is available for download? -
Hill Start Assist not available + Service AdvanceTrac messages
Automate replied to ddntbd's topic in General Discussion
No, its storing the sensor values at the time the problem occurred. Regardless if a OBD scanner is connected or not. A scanner can be connect at a later time and retrieve the stored values. Just enter OBDII and Freeze Frame and you will find lots of information about it. Here is even a video explaining it -

Automate replied to ddntbd's topic in General Discussion
Fords do record "snapshots" of current sensor values, they call them Freeze Frames. But they are not generated for all DTCs. http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=340&p=2573&hilit=freeze+frame#p2573 -
New Configuration feature of FORScan 2.3 for Windows
Automate replied to Automate's topic in Maintenance & Do It Yourself
Assuming you want to enable DRL The DRL feature is controlled by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) The GEM module is usually on the MS-CAN bus. The cheap ELM327 clones don't support MS-CAN as purchased. So you have 3 options: 1. Buy a cheap ELM327 clone and modify it yourself. http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4 2. Buy an adapter that has already been modified for a little more money. 3. Buy a higher quality more expensive adapter which has a built-in electronic switch of HS/MS-CAN such as the ODBLink-MX http://www.obdlink.com/mxbt/ You will also need the Extended FORScan license but you can get that for free in the forum.
