  1. I was scanning the forum and saw a post from a member lamenting the low traffic of new postings So, I thought I'd throw an oar in...... Lost my voice command. She would speak but not listen (story of my life) I tried everything I could think of - shouting, aiming my voice more directly towards the microphone, making sure all windows were closed to minimize ambient sounds, switching sound from stereo to surround and back, etc. Nothing seemed to make it work consistently. Off to the dealer, and to make a long story short about 3 separate visits, they could replicate the problem so they dutifully and efficiently re-programmed the APIM, updated to Sync 3.7 (not sure why, I was on 3.7.11 already - more about that later), replaced the APIM, replaced the microphone. In the end I could still make the voice command fail on command, so to speak. And had the dealer and technician witness it and agree it failed. I use the instrument cluster right side screen mostly for climate control using the up and down buttons on the steering wheel. I could make the voice command fail by decreasing the temperature demand to 4-5 degrees below ambient - voice command continually asked me to "say a command". I could make it work by upping the temperature several degrees above ambient - seemed to work well, commands accepted and implemented. So I mentioned this during one of my visits and that maybe it was a switch or clock spring issue based on some web gathering I had done. But by this time I was getting the long distance look from the dealer technicians and service advisor. I guess I sort of understand their perspective. They suggested I run with it for a while, maybe it would settle down. On the way home I started thinking about things other than technology that could cause a sound listening/ pickup device problems. And the first and obvious one was wind noise distorting the incoming sounds. I then noticed I had my centre two vents (over the screen) pointed almost straight up at the windscreen. Hmmmm. I had done that a while back because of extremely warm weather we were having, lots of A/C use and a preference not to have the cool dry air blowing on my face/eyes and to share more with the back seat. So lower the vents. It worked. Has worked well ever since. That was two weeks ago. I believe that when the vents are turned too far up towards the windscreen and more at the overhead console, under the wrong conditions, they direct too much "wind" directly on the microphone. When I set the temperature demand low (i.e. making for more air flow or "wind"), even though the system automagically reduces the fan when you use the voice command, there was till too much wind turbulence and the microphone picked up garbled speech. When setting the temperature higher (i.e. decreasing or eliminating air flow or wind), there was no turbulence and so microphone worked as it should. Anyway, that's my story and I am sticking with it (at least at this point). If I am correct - Damn, that's a sensitive microphone! Oh, Sync 3.7. When I got the car back and saw the update, I noticed I had lost 911 Assist on the phone. The technician had not installed it as part of the update for some reason. Again long story short, using the Sync 3.7 download file (nowhere can I find 3.7.11 download) I was able to install just the 911 Assist app, did a reset and everythying is back to where it was. I have the 911 Assist app on the "i" screen and the Icon shows up with my phone connection. Now I think I'll try to install the Travel Data and Vehicle Health Report apps. They were actually both present when I got the car new with the 3.7.11 software, but I could not get them to work. I know they aren't supposed to work in Canada, but you never know. Sirius Canada offers the Travel Link up here with an updated and reasonable list of included Canadian cities. And I have a SyncMyRide account setup. Hmmmmm. Any guesses?
  2. Thanks to both of you for your quick replies Sounds like this is none of our first rodeos, so I just finished a trial fit of the wheel on the rear,in the comfort of my dry level driveway. Fits like a charm, lots of clearance around calipers and rotor shield (that black thin plate behind the rotors). Hey, isn't that jack a piece of work? Smacked the end of the handle against the door once while twisting and turning and went and immediately found a nice soft rubber tip to put on it. Peace of mind and a road trip down east in a few weeks. Raring to go.
  3. Not that I doubt your sincerity or insights, but Up here in Canada, we always get something a little different, eh? Is there anyway to confirm this? I just bought the spare wheel and jack kit combo from a local auto yard for my 2015 FFH Ti with standard 17" wheels all parts are brand new unused they provided it with the VIN of the wreck the VIN checks out as a 2014 Ford Fusion SE but the spare wheel is stamped with a different number than that in the main spare tire threads here on the forum my wheel is stamped CM5C1015CXA (I don't see any additional numbers like that on the steel wheel) I can only find one positive (i.e. they are the same) crossreference to the Ford part number that is recommended CV6Z1015B and that was on eBay I cannot find my part number anywhere on Ford sites (or anywhere else for that matter) Just wondering before I go through the exercise of dropping a back wheel and trying it on for size (probably a good idea regardless) Or going back to my supplier for a refund/ replacement (30 days) Thanks
  4. While I work with my dealer, just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem on this issue or other model year FFH. 2015 FFH Titanium. The audio system has been flawless and very enjoyable. A few days ago, a CD that I had left sitting in the player, ejected and then was drawn back in. Hmmmm. Since then the CD player will not read or play any CD I put in. And when I press eject, it can take several minutes for the disc to emerge. Everthing else (Sirius, AM, FM, bluetooth, USB) works OK (so far). I have tried a Master Reset with no luck (gonna have to give the “delayed reset“ program on a USB stick trick a try next time, I'm tired of repairing bluetooth pairings and station presets). I have tried enabling and disabling Gracenote in case that's a problem - no luck. I did find one internet reference (damned if I can relocate it) to a CD player failure issue in FFH related to using the vehicle to jump start another car (which in fact I had done a few days previous to my noticing the CD player failure). But I did it by the book, using the engine bay + and - points. So, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  5. Just did my first measured distance/ fuel volume caculation @ about 1600 km for the 2015 FFH Titanium. This was only the second fill up since i got the car, and the first was not a complete fill, just wanted to try the fill port mechanics. Got 5.9 l/100 km; 48 mpg (Imp), 40 mpg (US). (Assuming my spreadsheet and formulae are accurate) I found the car values reported on the screen to be much lower (i.e smaller/ higher fuel efficiency), than the measured number. It showed average of 5.0 l/100 km. Does the system need many refills to more accurately calibrate/calculate the value? Happy camper here.
  6. I have the 2015 FFH Titanium with MFT and most toys. All the info on the car indicates it has the ANC. I also find the ICE engine noise a little loud when cold and under load (load being different situations and combinations of acceleration, SOC and CVT drive scenario - whether all HPV, ICE/HPV combo or ICE alone). The noise is anything from a slight noticeable "rrrrrrrrrr" to what sounds like a small diesel engine at work. I have found through senior members posts on this forum that these sounds can be normal and part of the whole atkinson cycle and engine warm-up stage and nothing to worry about but does take some getting used to. After all, the FFH is not your ordinary ICE automobile and its different from other manufacturers hybrids as well. So it is unique. I have popped the fuse for the radio/ANC and it sounds like the ANC is working - definitely noisier when powered down. I too find the noise diminishes to almost un-noticeable after about 30 minutes or operation or complete engine/battery warm-up. In fact I have taken the car to two separate dealerships to ask they assess/diagnose the sound (to make sure the engine or CVT is not suffering) and in both cases they are about 30 minutes away and by the time I got there and took a test drive with the service manager, even I could not identify the sound I was concerned about (typical, right?). I don't hear anything at highway speeds and the transition from EV to ICE is almost imperceptible on highway. And again under certain cold load situations, is also slight - I just have not been able to consistently identify when and why its noisy or silent (revs, temp, SOC, drive scenario, etc.). So, for me the sounds are not a deal breaker, considering everything else the FFH has to offer it's worth getting used to a few new sounds. One caveat: For me, if it continues to be really bothersome or changes for the worse, a consistent message to the service department will be in order. Let them keep it overnight to assess when its cold. For now, I am very happy with my purchase. But be sure to browse all this forum has to offer, as there are lots of owners with way more knowledge than I. Good luck with your decision.
  7. Same here I lost it and then re-found it after a day of "WTF?" Once again I found myself repeating the mantra "RTFM" I even have the manual on my tablet so its available for easy reference.
  8. Another interesting tip - use a slightly higher tire pressure Just pumped mine (225/50-17) up to 40 psi I definitely like the handling/feel quality better Will run like this for a while and see how it goes
  9. Hello and Welcome I got my 2015 FFH Titanium on Sep 2, just a few weeks ago Lolder offers sound advice (I have spent as much time sitting in mine in the driveway, as I have logging miles) Just when I think I have most of it figured out I discover something new to play with Like just setup my cell phone plug in charger from the rear seat 115v/ 150 W power point, hiding the thin wire in the crack between the centre console top and side so its invisible right to the front under dash shelf, where I keep my cell phone. I noticed that this car depletes the cell battery way faster than my older 2009 Mazda 6, which also had bluetooth phone interface. I would get 6-7 days with the Mazda, lucky to get 4 days with the FFH. Could be storage location as well I suppose, affecting signal strength and cell phone antenna power use. Anyway, enjoy your new technological wonder. Its a hoot to drive and learn about. These forums are a treasure trove of useful info.
  10. Thanks for the info and insights (lolder, Waldo, acdii) Ain't hybrid'n just grand?
  11. 2015 FFH Titanium here. I only have about 300 km on it at this point. I love the car, but also am distracted by the ”growl” or ”rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr” noise from take off. It does seem to become less noticeable after about 50 k/hr, and hasn't been noticeable at all on the highways (100 k/hr). The interesting thing is that it is totally absent at other times at low speed when the system does show the ICE operating. Maybe this is not so much a function of speed but engine rpm/charging mode? I will have to watch the tach for a while to see if that is the case. I will have to continue my break-in period and see if I can associate the noise more closely with my driving style and the operational stage of the ICE, to know whether its all normal or suggests a visit to the service Dept. Don't want to damage the beauty due to lack of attention or knowledge about hybrid ops. Any insights are welcome.
  12. Thanks Question: easy exit for the passenger - I didn't see that in any options/menus. Where is it. I have the driver seat on ee but not passenger. Time to RTFM, again. I have tried Empower and Engage (on;y 220 km at this point, mind you), I think I [refer Engage, but I can see the value of Empower for figuring out gas pedal pressure/use.
  13. Thanks for this post. I just received (Sep 2) MY 2015 FFH Titanium and had preordered these exact mats (front and rear) based on the info posted here and the pics. Installed them the day I brought the car home and very pleased with the fit and appearance. I will wait and see how they handle a winter up here. But I don't anticipate a problem. The 'button holes" for securing on the driver side have a slight rise to them, so it appears it will take a fair bit of melt water to cause any leakage.
  14. I have been driving my 2015 FFH Titanium for about 4 days now I am obviously no 'old hand' like some of the forum participants, but I find the suggestions here very useful I have found that when I 'baby' the acceleration when the ICE kicks in, I get a lot more "RRRRRRRRR" noise from the engine. If I press more firmly, without trying to drag race anyone, I get less noise and a more pleasing noise, if that makes sense. So I agree 'Granny" driving is out. I have not been watching the screen to see how many bars I am running, but I will now and figure out where it operates best for me as far as noise and performance.
  15. ARRIVED finally took possession on September 2 in retrospect the order fell exactly into the 7 day timeframe from window sticker availability (Jul 29) to build date (Aug 6) very pleased with the Guard metallic and ceramic interior. I have a had three comments about about how sharp it looks already. after a few days I have figured out most of the tech stuff and set the car up the way I want, at least at this point (thanks to all the forum topics, suggestions and ideas) I put in the 3D Maxpider floor mats mentioned in the floor mats topic (I had taken a gamble and ordered them even before the car arrived) . The 2014 version fit exactly, the 2015 FFH and look great, an exact fit. The holes in the mats for the drivers securing pins have a slight rise to them so it would appear that it will take a lot of water to cause an overflow. I will see how they survive a great white north winter. I really like the car. the tech blows me away, especially the comprehensive voice command capabilities and how easy it was to bluetooth my phone, phonebook and Ipod. I am arranging for window tinting (3M ceramic) and still trying to find a spare wheel/tire/jack. Then I should be all set.
  16. Well, its here...almost. My 2015 is sitting in my dealers parking lot over the labour day weekend. The salesman says they are jammed and can't get it out till Tuesday Sept 2. I did get to drive over and see it, though. First time seeing the Guard metallic and ceramic interior together, live. I did make a good choice. Looks way better than any of the build and price pictures, but you'd expect that. I like the exterior especially at very oblique angles to pick up the subtle hues and tones. Looking forward to seeing it under various lighting conditions. Just a few more days. I have been tracking a few local auto yards around my area for the past month with no luck. Even Ebay and Craig's list are coming up empty. Lots of parts in the US but virtually nothing here in Southern Ontario, or Canada for that matter. And most US sellers either won't ship north or charge more than its worth for the parts. Looks like I may have to buy the wheel and tire from Ford or local tire shop (got almost equivalent cost quote from each) and get a suitable wrench and jack from good old Canadian Tire.
  17. BINGO! I came to the same conclusion with my 2009 Mazda 6. Same annoying tone from the air system when the fan was above 75% speed. I play around with the saxophone and it was one of those 'Ah Ha' moments. So that's my problem. A misaligned duct system that is creating a vibrating tone at and above a certain air speed. So I left it alone. I too dread the thoughts of anyone doing a re&re on my whole dash system.
  18. I was wondering if we could get back to any additional suggestions on how and what for car setup? I am expecting delivery of my new 2015 FFH Titanium in a couple of weeks, so I read the suggestions of the cognoscenti very closely. Thanks
  19. Hello I have a 2015 FFH on order. Due to be built any day now. The window sticker has a new set of mileage numbers, different again from what's posted here. The window sticker shows 5.4/ 52 and 5.8/ 49 for l/100 km / mpg. Just sharing the info.
  20. With some much appreciated assistance from Ashley and now Crystal (our Ford member on this forum), I have received my VIN. And successfully obtained a first copy of the window sticker for my car using info and tools from these forum. Thanks to all who preceded me and provided all the knowledge. I guess it will be built sometime in the next week and has an estimated delivery to dealer of 26 August. So far so good. Now to start sourcing that donut spare and jack kit to replace the tire mobility kit. Its one of the key items I have picked up on here and elsewhere.
  21. Thank you. I have seen your posts here and over at BOF. All very helpful and useful. I look forward to learning and sharing hybrid info. I know about the tracking with cyberdman, but I don't have much knowledge yet to make the requisite 15 posts. It will be a while before I can post a request there. Hello. I too saw the Guard metallic on a 2015 Mustang on the web from some auto show. That is what sold me. When the light catches it just right, WOW! I was originally after a 2014 FFH in Dark side with most toys. But no stock available here, so I opted for the 2015
  22. Hello Just starting out. Ordered the beauty at the end of May. DORA processed June 2, 2014. No schedule or VIN. I see in other forums that the Hermosillo plant doesn't even startup till Jul 21. Now for the long wait. Sure am looking forward to this vehicle. Guard metallic, ceramic interior, most of the toys. I love the look of the 2014/15 FFH. Bring it soon, please.
