    Making the Deal

    I presume you only pay sales tax on the delta between the new car price and the trade-in value so that's half the difference right there. Ask them to come up $750 on the trade and close the deal.
  2. If I'm spending your money then I would get the MKZ Hybrid with the Preferred equipment group.
  3. 2200 mostly highway miles in my first 6 weeks of ownership and I am at 38.0. Can't imagine how you guys are averaging 43, 45 or 50 MPG.
  4. I test drove two 2014 gas 2.0 Fusions while shopping this Spring: a well equipped SE and a base Titanium. I can't say I noticed any of the negatives that you observed. I agree that the EcoBoost 2.0 isn't as quick as you would think - or hope. A V6 Accord, Altima, Camry or Malibu will eat it for lunch. I decided to get a Fusion SE Hybrid but if I wanted a conventional gas engine, I would certainly choose the EcoBoost 2.0 over the standard 2.5 or the EcoBoost 1.5 or 1.6.
  5. This is a fairly old thread but I can understand why Ford isn't doing more to specifically market the Fusion Hybrid and Energi. They represent less than 1 in 6 of every Fusion sold. If Ford markets the Fusion model in general, the buyers who are inclined to consider a hybrid or plug-in hybrid will tend to find those models on their own. According to Ford's own sales data, 70% of Fusion Hybrid and Energi buyers are new to the Ford brand.
  6. Same drivetrains and essentially the same weight. Most magazine tests of both vehicles report a 0-60 time of 8 seconds so there is no evidence to suggest that the C-Max is quicker.

  8. I think this was probably from a shopping cart. The car has plates on it, when you trade in a car here in MA you just transfer the plates from the old car to the new car. I'm going to ask a buddy of mine who works for an auto body shop if he thinks it can just be buffed out. It's on the plastic part of the fender though so I'm not so sure.
  9. Darn... 5 days, 475 miles on the clock and already a visible deep scratch. Noticed it on the driver's side rear fender this afternoon. I was kind of hoping scratches wouldn't be that visible on the white but there appears to be a gray primer underneath that shows through. No idea what happened although my wife did take the car to the mall yesterday. Nothing ever good happens at the mall!
  10. For that kind of annual mileage, I would go with a Golf / Jetta TDI. Hybrids are not the optimal choice for long distance.
  11. Closed the deal on a 2014 Fusion SE Hybrid today. I live north of Boston but purchased from a dealer in southern New Hampshire. A very easy deal to negotiate. MSRP was $31,845, I paid $27,075 and they gave me a very fair value on a low mileage 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SE wagon that I traded in. I've never owned a white car before but I know I am tired of dark colors. My Jetta was black and I have a 2010 Tundra that is black and a 2012 Highlander that is dark gray. The windows will be tinted to the Massachusetts legal limit later this week.
  12. I don't think the build date on a 2014 would matter at all. If you were considering a new leftover or used 2013 you might want one with a later build date.

  14. You won't get the best price on a dealer transfer car. The dealers swap the cars at invoice price and then they either have someone drive a car to go get the one you want or they have the cars shipped. Somebody has to pay for that, and it's going to be the buyer. Your best bet is to find a car within a distance that you are willing to drive that has what you want and maybe a bit more and then go to that actual dealer and negotiate the best deal for that car. Here in the Boston area, most Hybrid SEs are selling for right at invoice minus $1500 in rebates. You may be able to get below invoice with no trade or work a better deal on the trade value but these cars are selling pretty well without the same discounting you see on the regular gas models. With the '15s starting production soon, 2014 inventory with desirable options is getting scarce. You'll either pay more for an ordered 2015 or make do with what you can find among the 2014s.
