  1. Higher pressure gives slightly better mileage because of reduced friction (less rubber on the road). But it also reduces handling/breaking slightly for the same reason. It can also cause uneven tire wear if the pressure is too high (or too low). I used to run mine somewhere between the manual suggested and max of the tire during the summer. My '06 fusion recommended 33 and my tires had max of 45, so I ran at 36-38. I saw at most a 1 mpg difference. During the winter I would always drop them back down to the recommended for better traction. I haven't played with the pressure at all in my '13 yet.

    EV+

I don't think that's true. Mine has still not learned my work after a month. Thats about 25-30 key cycles as sometimes I drive to lunch. It learned my home in 1 or 2 days. Unless maybe there is some sort of limitation on needing to park at an addressable location. The parking lot at work is "off road".

    MPG Happy Talk

I was going to take a picture if/when I hit 70 mpg on my drive home, but today it was a pretty good day overall. The drive to work is more uphill and that read over 40 MPG for the first time today, without trying very hard. The drive home from work was pretty good. Not the best I've done, but pretty close. 18.3 M 14 EV 68.7 MPG .2 gal I didn't set my tripometer this morning, so I'm not sure what my real mileage for the total trip was, but I'm pretty sure it was well over 50 MPG. The trip pushed my lifetime avg over 40 (never reset) and the current tank avg over 45 as I put my 2000th mile on in 2 days short of a month of ownership.
  4. Thanks for the update, I always thought doing it on tank size would've been a better option, but got very used to the 50 MTE after 7 years.
  5. Thanks. I'm at 115 MTE right now, I guess I'll just keep driving it this week and see if mine is the same.
  6. I apologize if this has been asked before, I've tried searching for this, but it's a group of words that hits quite a few posts with little relevance. What is the low fuel trigger for the 2013 FFH? In my '06 fusion it was 50 miles on the DTE. I've seen a reference in one post on here that it is 15 miles on the DTE in the new car? That seems awfully low if true. The fuel gauge in the FFH is somewhat hidden amongst all the other meters in the car so I rarely pay attention to it. I always knew in my old car that I could make it back home from work if the light came on during my drive there, I'd like to have the same comfort level in this one. Also, is it possible to change the warning? I couldn't find a setting for it while looking, but it feels like there's few hundred to look through.
  7. I've seen 3.29 as the low around here this week. I have a 40 cent/gallon discount coupon at one of the grocery chains, so I'm hoping to see a 2 as the first number in my gas price for the first time in a long time next time I fill up. I read an interesting article last week about states that use a gas tax. Apparently some law makers want to start adding additional fees to owners of hybrid and electric vehicles to recoup the taxes "lost" in gasoline purchases that their owners are not making. Perhaps that has been discussed here, I didn't search, just thought it was interesting.
  8. I agree. It was very heavy downpour I experienced, the vast majority of rainfalls would be fine.
  9. Not often, but if that was Memorial Day weekend it could've been me :) But yeah I love black cars and the new Fusion is no exception, it's very sharp. I found mine off a lot, not a special order, so I was super happy it was a color I liked. I've seen Ruby Red and Sterling Gray Fusions around the area, but hadn't noticed if they were hybrids (another thing I love about the design).
  10. I think the wipers clean very well, but they are SLOW in a downpour even on the fastest setting. I drove through a massive thunderstorm last weekend and almost had to pull over because of how slow they moved. Never had that problem in any other vehicle.
  11. Also, I've found lines are gray above 40 mph if the system cannot "find" the boundaries. I'm not 100% how it works, but it seems like it may use cameras to try and detect painted lines. If the lines on the road are tarred over or simply missing, the green line on that side of the road does not show up on the dash for me.
  12. Thats me, added myself last night. With your username I thought you might be nearby, but then again there's psu fans everywhere.
  13. My HyTi turned out to be a 30th birthday to myself. It wasn't planned, the timing just worked out that way. Cannot agree more with this statement. I drive a lot in mountains to visit family and I never thought a hybrid would have enough power to do anything but frustrate me on those roads. I was mostly looking at v6's and turbo 4's.
  14. Thanks for the info. It seems the issue in that thread is that sending a text does not work at all. For me, I can send it if I use the touch screen and manually go to phone/messaging/send text while stopped. The voice commands just don't seem to work. Thats why I was thinking it may be that my version of MFT is the "device" that is not supported. I'm using a HTC One X with a custom android rom.
  15. I hear lots of unfamiliar noises, but I'm new to hybrids and atkinson cycle engines so I chalk them all up to that. My build date shows 4/6/2013 which is right near the TSB cutoff. I'm assuming it's pretty noticeable so I don't think it's happening on mine at 1700m, but could someone attempt to record the noise?
  16. According to ford's website here: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/send-and-receive-text-message-sync-myford-touch It makes it sound like replying to text messages with the 15 default options is available via sync voice commands. When I use "Reply to text message" it tells me that "Text messaging is not supported by this device". I'm not sure whether "this device" is my phone or MFT on my 2013 Titanium. Can anyone confirm if this command actually works under 3.5.1? Sync will read incoming messages for my phone and I can use the touch screen to send messages as long as I'm stopped. It usually takes me a while to navigate to the txt messaging page, so I can almost never do it at a single stop light, I have to hope for 2 in a row. If I could use the voice commands even to just choose who I'm sending the text to, that would save me so much time.
  17. I didn't mean to imply that I'm driving 70+ going to work. My commute is 18 miles one way on 45mph country roads and I'm using between .7-.8 gallons on any given day (36 total miles). I'm certainly not disappointed with the mileage overall, I just expected 40 on the highway. Last weekend I took another highway trip where the speed limit was 55mph for over half the drive instead of 65mph. On that trip I got 42 mpg, which I'm ok with. I guess there just needs to be more 55mph highways near me. I can't wait to visit my family and take it on mountain roads. I love the way the suspension feels in this car.
  18. Just bought my 2013 HyTi on May 17 and have put 1600 miles on it. It was a special order that the owner got impatient waiting for so it was just sitting on the lot waiting for me to take it home. Back in 2005/6 I ordered a first gen Fusion and absolutely loved that car. As I approached the 100k mile mark, I started thinking of getting something new. I browsed for 5-6 months, test driving everything new and used (mercedes, lexus, etc) I could get my hands on, but I fell in love with the new Fusions. After 105k miles on the old car I started getting hard shifts in the transmission, so I decided it was time to pull the trigger on something. I actually had my heart set on the non-hybrid Titanium (previous car had a v6 and I felt I needed the power) and was on the lot to try and make a deal for one of those when I spotted the mythical Hybrid Titanium. I hadn't realized they actually existed in the wild. I had test driven an SE Hybrid previously and was "OK" with the trade-off for power/mileage because it still has quite a bit of zip in situation where you need it, I just didn't want an SE. It's tuxedo black, loaded with everything except the adaptive cruise control. I was hesitant about paying so much for Nav/Driver Assist/Parking Assist when I didn't think I needed them, but I'm glad I have them all now. The nav (especially with sirius traffic) is much nicer than the one on my phone that I originally planned on using. I love the lane assist feature and I'm getting used to BLISS for long highway trips. The parking assist is one of the coolest features I've ever seen on a car and is always the favorite when I demo it to friends/family. It turns out I already drove like a Hybrid driver as I was constantly coasting and using a light foot for acceleration/braking. I'm a bit disappointed at the mileage doing 70-75 mph (~ 37 mpg), but the mileage I'm getting on short/everyday trips more than makes up for that. As time goes on my commute to work with start to account for more and more miles and I'm getting 45+ round trip there.
  19. The engine noise is really my only complaint of the car after 2 weeks. It is LOUD at low speeds during acceleration. I thought maybe I was just spoiled by EV mode and making me think it was louder than what it really is, but accelerating between 25-40 mph, it's almost loud enough to drown out the radio. I thought maybe it was CVT's in general because the Altima I had test driven has the same problem, but I took my relative's prius for a drive this weekend and it's engine is much quieter, though I'm glad I went with the Fusion in general. I really don't remember it being this loud during test drives and sometimes the ICE is super quiet, but other times, it has a horribly loud growl.
