I took it in because the rear brakes were rattling. I live on a dirt road and that seems to be part of the problem. I was there when they inspected the brakes and they were shot. I trust the dealer but when they pulled the wheel they showed me the problem. They got the pistons on the calipers freed up so they didn't need to replace the calipers, just the rotors. I was wondering if anyone else was having rear brake issues as most times rear brakes almost last the life of the vehicle. My brake score is around 96%.

Well I just got the car back from the dealer. It now has 46000 miles on it and I just had to pay for new rear brakes and rotors. Seems according to the dealer that the rear brake calipers were frozen up and not working properly, which also damaged the rotors. I have owned many Fords in my lifetime and usually the rear brakes last much longer than 46000 miles, usually the fronts are the first to go. Car is averaging about 43 miles per gallon but I didn't plan to spend my gas savings on early rear brake repairs.
-
Mine was the bracket that holds the rear shock. They replaced the bracket no rattle on that side. Almost 44500 on the car 42.7 lifetime on the computer. Probably actual mileage a little less.

Got My check for $775 yesterday nice suprise

Well I was contacted by Ford service to help getting the parts apparently they were successful. I took the car in last Tuesday and they were supposed to replace the shock and bushings. I haven't had a chance to talk to the dealer as to what they actually finally found, but I no longer have a clunk. In the winter the car did seem to build up lots of ice, but I park the car in a heated basement at night so the ice would have melted off by morning. Don't know for sure what they fixed but for now no clunk in the rear. The car is back to its original smooth quiet ride.

Folks, My 2013 fusion hybrid with about 36000 miles on it has a bad rattle in the right rear. The dealer thinks the shock is bad so they ordered a new one. The shock came in but the parts to attach it are on backorder for more than two weeks. It seems when two people are in the car the rattle almost disappears, so it has been hard to track down. Anyone else having this issue?
-
acdii, mine was hard to locate because when I would have two people in the car the rattle would almost disappear. When its just the driver it sometimes clunks real loud. How do I PM Ashley?
-
Ford service, how do I PM you

Well I know it has been a long time since I was here but here is where I'm at now. Current lifetime average 41.6 MPG. 35951 miles on the car. It has developed a bad rattle in the passenger rear. The dealer thinks the rear shock has failed. They ordered the shock and it came in but the other parts to attach it are on permanent back order. So I'm still driving it even though it sometimes sounds like the right rear is going to fall off. Stopped in the other day and he can't get a delivery date on the remaining parts. He thinks it may be a wide spread problem. because the parts should be readily available. We had an absolutely terrible winter with cold as low as thirty below zero. On those bitter cold days I would get about 32 miles per gallon on the way to work. Last Thursday it was nice and I got around 52mpg. So I'm thinking my lifetime average should start climbing again.

Just a quick update. My lifetime average is now 42.2 MPG and since my last oil change I'm averaging 45.0. The car goes in tomorrow for two recalls, one for a fuel issue and one to update the computer. Runs great and I'm very happy with the fuel mileage. Approximately 21000 miles on the vehicle.
-
Just another quick update. Received two recall notices in the last week, One is for a possible fuel leak and the other is the software upgrade. Will talk to the dealer today about both. Just over 18000 miles and long term average is now up to 41,8. Finally have a complaint about the car. Seems the doors don't seal out the dust as well as they should. Living on a dirt road provides plenty of dust when you have a week or so without rain. Will have to clean the interior soon. Back seat is getting real dusty.
-
Well once again its time for an update. Received a recall notice from Ford concerning leaking fuel, No repair parts available until the end of August. Currently have 17089.5 miles 7391.8 electric miles and 947.3 regen miles. My lifetime average has moved up again to 41.6 mpg. I have never reset since I got the car, so it includes over 8000 miles with studded snows. Should be over 42 mpg by end of summer. Still pleased with the car

What can Ford do to make the Fusion Even better?
Allegany replied to acdii's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
I think they should add adjustable pedals like in the Taurus. They should also make the passenger seat more adjustable up and down as well as forward and back. -
Well I just thought it was time for another update. Just went over the 16 thousand mile mark and have over 68 hundred electric miles. The dealer changed the gear shift knob on the Ford recall. My lifetime average is now up to 41.4 miles per gallon. And it is creeping up slowly. I think if I had bought the car when the weather was warmer the lifetime average would be much higher. Still very pleased with the mileage, performance and handling of the car.

ACDII, what made you get rid of the 2010 Fusion Hybrid and get a second 2013 Fusion Hybrid after your bad experience with the first one?
-
ACDII, yes I had studded snows on for the winter. Took them off in April and the mileage along with the better weather has been climbing continuously. The trip I mentioned in my last note was on the expressway for 26 miles and the cruise was set at 62. I find not many people pass me at that speed. On the way back I took county and state roads at 56. I currently have the 17" Michelin original equipment tires on the car and yesterday my long term average went up to 41.1. So far I haven't had any issues with the car and it rides really well. Considering getting the wife one to replace her Taurus which is running around 21 -22 mpg.
-
Well I just thought I'd give another update. the Lifetime average is now 41.0. I have 14178+ miles and 5925+ electric vehicle miles.Lifetime average is slowly climbing. Just got 47.7 coming back from Olean. Got 53.2 going. Very pleased with the car so far. Love the mileage.
-
Just a quick update. Long term average is now 40.7 MPG and I have over 12700 miles on the car. Went to the dealer with my recall letter. Seems they put the wrong gear shift on, so they ordered the leather one which would be the right one. Hesitant to have them fix it and maybe screw something up. Car runs great.
-
Well it's update time again. 10829.5 miles on the odometer. 4309.8 electric miles and 538 regen miles. The lifetime average has just reached 40.0 mpg. The car is regularly getting 52+MPG on the way to work, the trip is 20.9 miles. Return trip is averaging about 39.0 mpg. I've gotten as high as 54 going to work and as high as 41 coming home. I drive the same route every day and try to drive it the same. Most of the driving is on County roads at 56 mph about 4 miles village driving at 30 mph. My former car was a Mercury.Montego and I was getting about 22mpg. So My average is nearly double what my previous car was getting. Very happy with the car.

Sherzog, I've had my FFH since December 26, 2012. I now have almost 10700 miles and my long term average is now 39.9 and slowly climbing. I found that if I use my left thumb to accelerate (cruise above 20) the car accelerates much smoother and the mileage improves. Last tank the computer said I got 44.9 and the calculated amount was 44.6. I don't do much expressway driving mostly country roads at 56MPH. On the expressways I do 62MPH.On the way to work today I got 52.9 and 38.7 on the way home equals 45.75 MPG. My trip to work is 20.9 miles same home. I only use the right foot to get to 20MPH then left thumb. During the winter I had studded snow tires on until five weeks ago. Mileage is now going up about .1 per week.

Well on Friday I had to head to the big city of Rochester. Got on the freeway and put the cruise at 62. Barely had anyone pass me and went 52 miles total and got 56.8 mpg. The same trip home I got 41. Difference is between down hill going uphill coming home. But still the average for the trip was 48.9MPG When I filled up the car the computer said my average for the tank was 44.9, after filling it up the calculated mileage was 44.6. Pretty close. So the bottom line for me at least is that the computer must be pretty close and my long term average since I got the car is now at 39.9, I have 10600 miles on it and around 4500 electric miles. Running good so far. Got a service bulletin from Ford stating that they had installed the wrong shifter in the car and to see the dealer to get it replaced. I like the cheaper shifter but since I paid for the more expensive one I might as well get them to change it. One other thing, its snowing and the lawn is turning white. Back to winter.
-
Well time for an update. I now have about 10200 miles and almost 4000 electric miles. My average MPG since day one is now at 39.7. I got 53.8 on the way to work and 46.6 on the way to the dealer after work. I took the car to the dealer because he was supposed to have my spare tire in. Turns out it was delayed. Coming home from the dealer I got 28.8MPG. It's up hill all the way and steep. The trip to work was 20.9 miles and the trip to the dealer from work was 28.8 miles. Love the car.
-
Well in the last two weeks my mileage has gone up to 39.4 average since day one. It is definately improving since removing the studded tires. It is going up slowly because I now have over 9400 miles on it. Love the car. Now on my way to work I'm getting over 52MPG and coming home over 39 mpg. It keeps going up and I am very pleased with the car. Almost 3700 electric miles. See ya
-
Well I felt it was time for an update. I now have 8900 miles on the car and around 3400 electric miles. I had my studded snows removed last Saturday and am now driving on the original equipment Michelin's. Since last Saturday my long term average has gone up from 39.0 to 39.2 driving the same route as I did in the winter. It was warmer this past week and it really is improving my mileage. I think removing the studs also helped. I'm moving up slowly and so far I'm very pleased with the car. Unfortunately the rooftops were covered with snow this morning, you could even see it on the grass. Yesterday the temp hit 71 then dropped to 34 in just about two hours. Its supposed to drop to 21 degrees tonight then start a slow warm up. Winter just doesn't seem to want to go away. Well tha's it from here, hope everyone is enjoying their new Fusions as much as I am.

I put Hancook studded snow on my 2013 fusion. I have 17 inch tires. The studs worked great the past winter. Plan to get them taken off in the next few weeks if we can get past the first of this coming week and they stop predicting snow. Last year we had 18" of snow on April 25.
