  1. My 2013 rear camera started to show not available. I figured it was a bad camera module or possibly the harness. I removed the rear trunk cover and had to remove both rear tail-lights. The middle piece needed 4 nuts removed and two push clips. The rear Ford center emblem had to be removed as well. Once the center piece was loose then the camera module was easily accessible. I removed the camera and noting looked odd. I added some dielectric grease to the connector and reassembled. Tried it out and still nothing. I then took the two connectors that are attached to the trunk lid on the interior and put dielectric grease in those connections as well. This time the camera started to work like new. After careful inspection the wiring harness had rubbed a spot through the insulation near the sharp edge of the metal. I insulated this sharp area and re-routed the cables slightly so it would not rub. It's working just fine now. If any of you have a similar issue check out the wiring prior to it going through the grommet to the exterior. BTW - The center emblem can be re-used if you carefully remove the old tape from both surfaces. Orange oil is great for dissolving old glue. I used 3M VHB foam tape on the emblem and it worked very well.
  2. Recently replaced the 12V battery in the 2013 FFH. Thanks for all the prior posters the correct battery was fairly easy to source. Seeing the old one lasted over 7 years I just put in another lead acid. BTW - The only real signs it was going was some times the door locks would not correctly unlock and the radio would shutoff almost immediately after the vehicle was shutdown.
  3. OK so the blend door went back in but it was a contortionist nightmare. I unplugged the 12V battery in the trunk as the system will run through a startup sequence. Luckily the lever more or less lines up with the default COLD position of the two doors it controls. There is a foam washer on one of the arms on the airbox as well as the arm on the blend door motor. The one on the blend door motor kept falling off. I eventually used a drop of superglue on the arm and glued the foam in place. Made the install slightly less of a headache since the washer wasn't falling off all the time. I tried the heat and it got slightly warm but nothing hot. It was 90 degrees outside so may have been part of the issues. I think it's fixed. At least it's blowing cold air out of both vents. May need to go through a OBDII test procedure to verify it beyond this initial test but so far so good.
  4. AC is ice cold on the drivers side but wife is reporting hot on the other side. I have done some research that the Ford's are notorious for having a bad blend door. Ordered a new blend door for the passenger side and managed to get the old one out tonight. Ran out of light but the new blend door seems to be very difficult to install in the cramped space they have it. Any recommendations for the install of this part? I've already removed the glove box and the lower panel down in the foot well. About the only thing remaining in the area is the air bag down low. If I need to remove the air bag is there any tips so that the thing does not go off accidentally? Do you have to disconnect the 12V battery in the rear? I really will try to avoid removing the air bag but there is so little room to even see what your doing. Most of the removal was by feel with a very short angled screwdriver.
  5. My wife took her 2013 FFH to Jiffy Lube this morning. After the service she drove off just fine. Once the gas engine kicked in she said it started to make a loud knock noise. She pullup over and slowly went back to the service station. I think she was under electric power on the return trip because she said she went slow and it didn't make the noise. Probably drove 1/4 mile each way. They "re-changed" the oil! I suspect they never added any oil after the initial drain. SInce it's difficult to start up the gas engine my wife was the first to notice. The engine sounds reasonably quiet now. It has a slight tick in the valve train but to be honest I don't drive it so I am not tuned to the standard noises this engine makes. It may have sounded this way from day one. I am planning to take it to the dealer for a through check up. Jiffy lube did say they flaggged this oil change (what ever that means). Anyone have an oil change result in a knocking noise?
  6. Thought I posted this earlier but for the life of me I could not find the post. Will try again... WIfe's 2013 FFH had the oil changed at 7000 miles. Thought the oil life indicator was reset at that point but now at nearly 10K miles the indicator comes on every time the vehicle is driven. I tried to reset it at least three different times. It allows yu to reset to 100%. 90% etc... and i chose 70% since it's been a while. I also tried 100% but it never sticks. Tried to reset it twice in a row and still the stupid indicator comes up. Anyone else seeing this? We did have the firmware upgraded about six months ago to allow the >62MPH electric drive option to be enabled. ANyone else have issues where they can not reset the indicaotr no matter what they do?
  7. Agree the AC is slightly more subdued but the pump for the brakes can be a bit noisy. Some times I never hear it at all and other times it's a fairly pronounced sound. We have to back out of the driveway and in the process it makes a bit of noise. The noise does not change much so not a concern for me. If it started quiet and got louder that would be a big concern but it's just a pump sound without a lot of variation. Believe that is the standard operating noises.
  8. Update. The last repair (fourth time in) held for about two months. Just got another check fuel filler valve notice. The emission system on this vehicle is incredibly touchy. I made sure the dual valves on the filler cap were seated well (as best as I could tell) and going to see if it's still there. We may need to take it back in a fifith time. This is getting crazy and yes I'd like t know how this BBB program works. I'll be filing some paperwork with them if this continues.
  9. I got a recall notice for the fuel delivery module on our original FFH built back in February. That vehicle was totaled in early June and we got a replacement about a month later. The build date on the latest one is the 15th of June. I am not seeing any recall notice due for that vehicle so if you have a recent vehicle it may have the updated fuel delivery module. I called my dealer to verify and they double checked and said no recalls were active on the vehicle so I think were good on this one.
  10. Third time fixed they replaced the fuel hose from the filler. In the process of removing and replacin ght etank so often it may have been damaged. Been a few weeks and so far so good.
  11. Had our FFH in for a evaporative leak (third time seems to be the charm) and they have had the tank out for that repair. I just noticed that we now have a recall letter on the fuel delivery module. Is this the fuel pump? I wonder why they wouldn't have replaced this when the vehicle was in there one of the three times for the evaporative leaks. Is the fuel delivery module inside the tank? The evaporative recovery tank they replaced was above the tank from what I can see. Anyone have a picture of this unit? Last thing I want to do is take the vehicle back into the shop for yet one more service.
  12. Dealer replaced the evap canister aboout a month ago and now the code is back. We also had a code for a fuel filler cap may be leaky. They cleared that code but now the engine light is on again with the exact same failure code for evaporative system. Anyone else have issues like this? It's been hot as hell lately here in Texas and thinking it may be related to hot vehicles and more pressures in the fuel system? Anyway have a dealer service appoiintment for Monday. Also going to have then re-flash the EV over 62MPH fix. They said they did that but it refuses to do anyting but run the IC motor above 62MPH.
  13. That is what I thought. I really don't have much confidence in this dealer. I have had the vehicle in three times now with only 2500 miles on the clock. Once for a evaporator system leak, a second time for a fuel door warning related to the same evap system, and now this update that apparently was not implemented. I purposefully accelerated on the crest of a hill doing about 70MPH and backed off the throttle quickly and thought it would enter EV mode. The battery showed 3/4 charge yet the thing would not show EV mode. BTW = MIleage at temps up in to upper 90's or over 100 degrees is terrible. Lucky to register 38MPG for some simple round trips. The AC on fairly high all the time is really knocking the battery down.
  14. How can we confirm the update was applied? I had it done last Friday but any speeds above 62MPH I can not seem to get the vehicle to go into EV only mode. I thought the update was supposed to enable this? Did my dealer just scre3w me over and say it was done or what? Please help.
  15. I tossed a 500GB mini drive into the center console with all the itunes files just dragged and dropped and it is working great. Album cover art and all. I did have to format the drive for FAT32 using a utility I found on the net. Only took a few minutes to fast format and the longest delay was transferring the songs into the new media. I paid something like $45 for the 500GB drive so a lot more space and lower cost than the huge USB sticks.
  16. Wife's Fusion Hybrid had a evaporative emission failure with only 300 miles on it. Dealer took two days to eventually track it down but was a defective canister for the EVAP system. Was leaking down. if you get the same code it may be due to a batch of bad evap canisters? Something to consider.
  17. Ahh this shows June 15th. Even later. Thanks.
  18. How do we determine the build date? Is it printed on the sticker in the door? I will go out and look but I suspect it's some decode of the VIN. Just picked up our second FFH yesterday. First oe bit the dust when a truck t-boned the front end. Never noticed the pop or click on the original and it had nearly 10K miles. The new one does seem much better in build quality as fit and finish were better. I do however have a check engine light come on with only 225 miles on the vehicle! Need to take it into the dealter for that light and may as well have the axles checked at the same time. EDIT: Checked the window sticker and it was built on 6/7/2013 so it should have all the correct parts. Still need to follow up the check engine light. Seems like a TSB was out for that.
  19. Our Fusion often shows 100% charge especially after a long downhill section. IN that state the EV mode is easier to maintain but it does not mean that it will always stay in EV mode. The throttle has more impact to staying or leavingt EV mode than anything. THe Energi would be a neat concept but I suspect that you may be able to get a majority of say the first 20 miles or so on the battery. Then it would switch to gas and start to charge that huge pack. I would think at that point the mileage would be no better than the standard Hybrid. If you can maintain speeds lower than 62 and don't have a lead weight for a foot that it may be a good vehicle.
  20. My wife is averaging about 39MPG at the moment but she only has about 500 miles on the 2013. I drove it tonight to see what it would get if I drove like I had an egg under the pedal. I'm sure the other drivers didn't care for this but in the 10 mile trip it showed I got 57MPG! The mileage is starting to climb some but I don't think we will see 47 for an average any time soon. The 57MPG was impressive but clearly is not close to reality as I really had to work at keeping the thing in EV mode as much as i could. Perhaps in a few hundred more miles I can report something in the low 40's. I think the EPA numbers are complete BS. I can believe the 39 she is getting presently is probably more likely the real number. Still when we compare this to her CIvic she used to drive that claimed something like 28 in town and she was lucky to get 22MPG on average. BTW - Eagle LS2 tires as well but the 235/45 R18 variety. They show a treadwear rating of 400 so this is a low rolling resistance tire.
  21. This sounds interesting and could possibly help with the initial drive off. I suspect it would also require some additional programming to take advantage of the charge. If your really looking for that then the Energi version is what your after. Same basic vehicle but with the plug in option and a significantly larger battery.
  22. Wow they managed to buid it 08/2013! Now that is impressive! :drop: Yes the light issue was for the 2012 versions based on what I saw. As for the delays with the 2013's I think it was the body panels and the earlier post about tooling needed to the rebuilt. Were expecting delivery this week and ordered ours back in October.
