Sync Gen 2 V3.6.2 download

Hello,

 

Does anyone have the file still. When i log on it says i have to take it to a dealer to have it installed but i have read around and people state that they got the download so I was wondering if anyone could send me the download like via dropbox or somethings.

I just purchased a 2013 and it has never had an update so i need the newest one so i dont have to got pay for them to install it. I dont wanna pay $115 just for them to plug a usb into my computer!!

Have you tried the Sync verification checker? Won't hurt anything, and maybe after that it will then make v3.6.2 available for you from the site?

From what I saw in a different thread it didn't sound like it -- both my 2013s have v3.6.2 and the separate SyncMyRide/FordOwner accounts tell me that I have the latest and no update is available. So I have to wonder if there is something in v3.7 not compatible with the 2013 models or they would have made it applicable to the 2013s as well. I don't know that to be true but can't think of another reason why the 2013s would be left out.

Our Ford IVT Rep told us that 3.6.2 is the latest for the 2013 models, it's posted on this Forum somewhere.

Sync 3.7 is for 2014/2015 MY only.

And experience tells me that would be a BAD bet; maybe VERY BAD.

 

Especially if you don't have a copy of 3.6.2 to reload if it fails.

If it should fail with a "brick" result, you might be totally screwed.

 

Hopefully it would just fail to load........but somebody has to try it to find out.

Are you sure that's not 3.6.1? Kind of an odd file naming scheme if it actually is 3.6.2, don't ya think??

It is 3.6.2. The important number is 13171 which will display in one of the screens in the center console.

The Ford dealer should not charge to do the update. If your car is running 3.5 just take it to the dealer & let them install 3.6.2. There is a TSB posted on this form that you can reference if you are concerned about the dealer charging you for this service.

 

I would worry about taking a file from someone else because different cars have different features which could mean different files from the Ford Owner website.

 

Has anyone determined if the download from the Ford Owner website is exactly the same for a car with navigation & one without? Or what about a Titanium with ambient lighting versus an SE without it?

That is the exact same file name that I used to update my 2013 Energi Titanium with MFT over a year ago.

 

The .zip file contains multiple .zip and .cab files.

There is a control file that appears to allow the car to select the appropriate files for its update.

So when i plugged it into my car, it read the usb but it says the file wasnt found....

 

am i suppose to use a different name??

There are instructions......but I don't remember where those came from; probably the download site.

 

IIRC, you had to "unzip" the original file to GET the 3 files to actually copy to the stick.
