Texasota Report post Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) There have been several threads documenting FFH eCVT failures requiring the installation of a new transmission. Several forum members have understandably expressed concerns and posed questions about their being an underlying problem with our eCVTs that is causing these failures. I have the impression that these failures have been occurring at a relatively low number of miles but that impression could be wrong. I was thinking with this thread forum members could jump in and tell us how many miles they currently have on their FFH and if they have had any concerns or problems with their eCVT’s reliability/longevity. If nothing else, forum members with high mileage on their eCVTs may be reassuring to the rest of us. I currently have about 8000 miles on my 2015 and so far no hints of abnormal noises or problems. Automate Report post Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) I was thinking of starting a similar topic. "Who has high miles on your FFH" and what repairs have been needed after the original Ford warranty ended? I have 73K on my 2010 and no problems. I purchased it recently with 70K but the CarFax report showed no major repairs. It'll be interested to see who has the highest miles. GrySql Report post Posted March 14, 2015 My early 2013 FFH has 38,000 miles on eCVT.--Replaced HVAC unit at 26k though ;)
nv rick Report post Posted March 14, 2015 I have about 9100 miles on my '14 MKZ-h and no indication of a problem. I would suspect mine would be more susceptible since I make relatively many trips through a 3000 foot elevation change when going to Las Vegas. I'm sure driving up the pass puts quite a strain on the e-CVT as the rpms get into the 5000+ range.
lolder Report post Posted March 14, 2015 Climbing should not a strain. We suspect the problem is coasting down a long hill where the ICE doesn't run for many minutes thereby reducing the lubrication of the transmission which only circulates fluid when the ICE is on. Goose the pedal or select low briefly to get the ICE to run for a few seconds during the long downhills until the problem is resolved. 2 TonyHzNV and hybridbear reacted to this
TonyHzNV Report post Posted March 14, 2015 2014 FFH, built 11/25/13, purchased 7/3/14, currently 5900 miles with no indication of problems. Drive flat routes 95% of the time, maybe even a little higher.

TonyHzNV Report post Posted March 14, 2015 Or engage the standard Grade Assist? That should work too since it spins the ICE, even if just as an air compressor. 1 GrySql reacted to this
DeeCee Report post Posted March 15, 2015 My job 1 2013 now has just over 39,000 miles and so far no hint of a transmission problem.

acdii Report post Posted April 21, 2015 Whats interesting is it was 19000 this morning too, so the 25 ev miles from the trip home weren't added. Strange.

hybridbear Report post Posted April 30, 2015 That is the highest mileage posted so far in this thread. What year is your FFH?I believe Rob has a 2013. Didn't he also need to have his eCVT replaced once under warranty?
ROB281 Report post Posted April 30, 2015 Yes it is a 13, and the transmission was replaced around 55k
lolder Report post Posted April 30, 2015 The 2004-12 eCVTs were made by Aisin. The 2013+ are made by Ford.
Automate Report post Posted January 18, 2019 Wondering if anyone with first generation (2010-2012) has had an eCVT failure? My 2010 with 120K miles now has a "bearing" noise from the front end. Hoping it's a wheel bearing or CV-axle and not the transmission.
MicSli Report post Posted May 18, 2019 My 2013 FFH transmission started making noise around 180,000 miles. I took my chances since I knew that the repair was going to be a complete replacement and it just failed at 220,000 miles.

Cord66 Report post Posted July 29, 2019 Hello All, New Fusion owner here. I bought a 2015 SE Hybrid in June with 152070 miles on it, and use it for a combination of commuting and Rideshare driving. At this time, I'm up to 159,380 miles, I've averaging about 1,000 per week, so I expect to put this vehicle thru a work out. Car sounded like it had half as many miles when I bought it, and so far is running great. About the change the Trans fluid and my first Oil change, converting to Ams/Oil synthetics all around.
