Just bought - 2015 FFH Titanium, Magnetic Silver (good deal?)

I just brought home a 2015 FFH Titanium. I think I got a pretty good deal.

 

I had a number of options sticker was $36,490 and I got them down to $30,162 (incl $2500 in rebates).

 

In summary it has:

 

Moonroof

Active park assist (didn't want that, but it came it with)

Driver Assist Pkg

Navigation

 

Just picked it up yesterday, and so far I have about 180 miles on it, and about 39mpg. I hope that number will increase, but most driving is 70-78 mph highway. I'm expecting to take a hit for the speed I drive. The Prius got about 42.5 mpg.

I'd say that's about right for that speed. I figure I get 39 mpg at 75 mpg and 41 mpg at 70 mph. Interesting to me that your Prius got only a very few mpg more at that speed.

I should add that there is one large hill and one significant hill (both straight freeway) on my 47 mile commute. So that may take a bigger hit on the prius which really struggled up those hills.

 

Quick question: I cannot find a way to show the current MPG in a number form (versus a bar graph), is there a way to do that? I know my prisu would bounce between 16mpg and 18mpg up those hills (starting at 75 mph, and dropping usually to 65 towards half way up). I'm really curious to see what the FFH gets on the same hill.

MPG Numbers will likely be the same or similar but the FFH won't slow down that's for sure.

I had a Prius from 2005-2009, I know the instant MPG display that you're thinking of -- there is not a digital display, just a fuel economy gauge that can be viewed on the left status screen (to the left of the steering wheel), but that's all that I could find.

No you cant, and its a huge mistake by Ford not including that simple gauge. I have tried several alternatives. The easiest is to buy an OBD2 to bluetooth adapter and get a copy of Torque Pro on your phone, add the Fuel Economy plug-in. That one works pretty well. Next is Dash Command, another phone app, but it costs more than Torque. I finally settled on an Ultra Gauge. I mounted it on top of the steering column right in front of the gear position indicator lights (who really needs those lights?).

 

So far, that is the best option although it needs the gas engine to start before it records MPG's. Easy to do, just stab the gas pedal once when you back out of your driveway, that starts the engine and if your traction battery is charged, it will only run for a few seconds.
