Report Sees Weak Security in Cars’ Wireless Systems

New York Times. I'd like to have a statement from Ford about exactly what information is both collected and transmitted from our cars.

I would not be surprised to find how easy our cars can be stolen now, with the wireless keys, and PBS. All they would need is a code breaker RFID chip. Once they can unlock the door, they have the car. Personally I really dont see a need for cars to have internet connectivity, or wireless for that matter. I like how Ford ties 911 assist to your cell phone, or for downloading directions, let the phone be your point of presence, not the car.

 

Thats all we need, a hacker that can shut down all the cars, imagine the chaos that would ensue.

This report was rather disappointing in that it says that they collected data from all these automakers but then it revealed nothing about what each automaker does.
