Cobra348 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Meagan? Look out kiddo! I'm gonna be pestering you here more than I have already! Okay ordered the following:Fusion Hybrid TitaniumTuxedo BalckAdaptive CruiseTerracotta InteriorHeated/cooled seats (versus standard heated)Heated steering wheel I skipped the Driver Assist Pkg as I prefer the standard spotter mirrors (vs BLIS), don't even want the park assist (don't trust it) and lane keeping is not for me either for reasons already covered in other threads. Since I just ordered it today, I'm figuring perhaps early April before delivery. I traded in the Ruby Red Fiesta (see sig) and placed $10K on it to boot so very little is left to pay. Planned mods ...1. I want a donut spare!! Yeah, it'll bork up the MPG some but I refuse to run thousands of miles on trips with a can of fix-a-flat! The shopping list is in here and I'll use it! Thank you folks for doing that! 1a. Perhaps some lighter rims from TireRack or someone where I can shed 4-6 pounds per corner could offset some of the MPG loss? Not sure how much the stock 10-spoke rims weigh, though. Anyone know? 2. Somewhere here recently I noted one of you had gotten Steeda strut tower brace and a rear sway bar. THAT is certainly on the list! I've had gas Fusion loaners and that ride and steering need improvement. Okay ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Oh ... Meagan? I'll still be in FF as Punch is still in the driveway! Edited February 6, 2015 by Cobra348 2 machoman1337 and hybridbear reacted to this
machoman1337 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 The park assist is actually more than just auto parallel parking - it's the only way to get front sensors, which can be extremely useful in tight garages, and they have saved my low-hanging front bumper from scrapes many times. As for the trustworthiness of the system, I've used it at least 20 times since I bought my car and I'm embarrassed to say I may have forgotten how to do it manually as a result :P I do wish Ford gave an option to get the front sensors separately from active park assist though. Anyway, congratulations on your purchase and I'm sure you'll love it. No offense, but good riddance to the Fiesta :P (I'm not a fan of cars which are that small haha). 1 GrySql reacted to this
Cobra348 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 I wasn't really into something as small as a Fiesta either ... until I got one. Little buggers are actually pretty darn good - and one will remain in the driveway after the FFH arrives. I have consistently beat the MPG estimates on Fiestas from MY 2011 right into MY 2014 so I'm pretty confident the FFH will be topping them as well. You and I should talk about Fiesta offline ... I may be able to surprise you on some things. <shrug> 1 machoman1337 reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted February 7, 2015 I would get myself into too much trouble driving a Fiesta(provided I could get into and out of one. Not that Im fat, just that things dont bend like they used to without agony. I see a Fiesta and think Italian Job and want to drive down sidewalks in one. 3 machoman1337, Peter Davio and jeffo65 reacted to this
machoman1337 Report post Posted February 7, 2015 I had a Fiesta hatchback as a loaner when I brought my FFH for servicing. The dealer got delayed so instead of getting my car back on the same day, I had to live with the Fiesta for half of the next day. I wasn't too happy, especially when my first experience involved banging my knee on the steering wheel (the driving experience was also pretty bad). Let's just say I couldn't be happier when I finally got my car back that evening... my time with the Fiesta gave me a newfound appreciation for my own car. On the bright side, I was able to park in lots closer to the door at my office (they're too short lengthwise for my Fusion - the lots long enough are a bit of a walk away). I can see situations where keeping that second Fiesta will be handy though. E.g. the Italian job acidii described above :) Or more realistically, you might be driving into a part of town with uncomfortably narrow streets/parking lots (i.e. Cambridge, MA or Quebec City), where the Fusion would actually feel too big for comfort. Or maybe you need to transport stuff and the battery hump in the FFH would get in the way. I love how you named your Fiestas Punch and Judy. You thought of a cool name for your FFH yet? TonyHzNV Report post Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) So Cobra, you getting a 16 model? According to info from the Blue Oval Fusion Forum, final MY 15 orders were due Jan 22. MY 16 order bank opened Feb 2, plant scheduling starts Feb 26, Job 1 Apr 06. So you gonna be the first one in the forum to get a 16? :happy feet: Oh, and just a tip on the Steeda stuff, if you also want to install hood struts, you might as well order them from Steeda when you order the strut tower brace and sway bar because their hood struts are made to work with the strut brace. The Redline hood struts that others have installed won't work with the Steeda strut tower brace. Have fun! Cobra348 Report post Posted February 7, 2015 @machoman ... I'm 5'10" but my son is 6'!" and we fit pretty well into the cars ... gotta adjust the seat. However legroom in the rear is epic fail unless riders are <5'6" or so. Judy was first purchase ... Ruby Red --> Ruby slippers --> Judy Garland --> Judy. I remember the old puppets so it became Punch and Judy. @TonyHzNV ... my salesman knows I come prepared (he sold me my Fiestas), so once we were sure of trade numbers and warranty info, one of the other sales guys tailored a concept (possible lot car??) to what I needed and they tied it into the order. They had it as a '15 but based on the timeline you quote it may well be a '16 when it's done. Hey ... either way it's a FFH and I'll still have 2 blue ovals in the drive. Ohhhhh ... And I can bug Meagan in two forums too! Mebbe twice the cookies? :salute: 2 acdii and Peter Davio reacted to this

I'm not on the Flex forum anymore. But I miss everyone over there! Tell mmsstar I say hi! MeaganAbout that trade-in ... I mentioned before (here or FF ... not sure) that after about 600 miles or so in the Fiesta, the seats and ride got to me somewhat. I'm not noted for having a lot of padding "back there". But what really cinched it is the weird snowfall we've had (real fine, wet lake effect on top of already packed slick stuff) coupled with getting both cars stuck simply trying to get out - and in this morning. A larger car - we have used a Dodge Avenger to do it - would go far in creating a packed area for the Fiesta to get thru. Landlord tries to keep things clear (he's out there now) but sometimes one just cannot keep up. You have been warned, Meagan ... you will not get rid of me easily! :happy feet: Have not figured a name for it yet but am open to suggestions. <shrug>
Hybrider Report post Posted February 9, 2015 From Wikipedia: Punch and Judy is a traditional, popular puppet show featuring Mr. Punch and his wife, Judy. The show is performed by a single puppeteer inside the booth, known since Victorian times as a "Professor". The FFHes are smart enough to be called "Professor". ;) 2 TonyHzNV and hybridbear reacted to this

Cobra348 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 You are a wicked, wicked person .... you know that? Tempting me with all those nice cookies. Possible FFH name: Nytwyng (pronounced Nightwing) ... done this way to avoid conflict from DC comics about their character. VIN is assigned and according to the report "locked in" - which I assume means "no changes!!" Even though it fell into the changeover period for the new models it will be a 2015 Tux Black/Terracotta HyTi. Soooo I essentially get one of the last '15 MY Fusions AND one of the last Tux Black ones at that. EDIT: Car will be called Nytwing (night wing).
