Used Cars get Sirius?

I was surprised to get a email today from Sirius about satellite radio. I had purchased my car a few weeks ago ~ 1yr old from MFG date with 24k miles so outside of the free 6 month trial. It turns out they give registered used vehicles a 3 month subscription? i guess? which is cool? Idk I never had satellite radio before, but for free i'll check it out.

 

Anyone else buy used and get this?

Looks like they found you... I sold my 2013 FFH at Carmax at the end of 2013 and got a prorated refund of the 3-yr Sirius that I'd already bought, so I assume Sirius knows I am no longer the owner of the car since they refunded me 100-150 bucks or whatever it was, don't remember.

 

They also don't remember that I am no longer the owner of the car, as I've now received probably 8 different letters from Sirius for that ESN that I'm getting a free 3-month trial so c'mon and sign back up with us...

 

So yeah I think they do the temp reactivation to all radios and send out letters to all of creation and hope they get some takers. So if you want to keep it, look at the thread here called "Sirius Renewal Deals" (pretty sure that's it) where several have posted getting $25 for 5 months or $30 for 6 months etc, and go from there.

Yes. I bought a Ford "certified" used 2012 Fusion SEL back in Aug of 2012 with 8K miles. I got the same as you - 3 months. Since I was already familiar with Sirius from my previous F150, I called them up shortly before the 3 months was up and told them I didn't want to continue the subscription at those (inflated) prices, so they offered the $25/5 mos deal. I kept doing that at each renewal time and just kept paying $25 at a time until I traded the car in on my 2014 FFH. Just so you know, the regular price if you don't complain or threaten to quit is like $160/yr with the royalty fees and all. So, just do like everyone else does and call them when it's time to renew and tell them you want to quit. When they ask why, tell them it's just more money than you want to spend for the amount of time you spend in the car. If they don't tell you about it the 5 mos/$25 deal, ask them about it. They'll give it to you, no problem. Also, you should log on to siriusxm.com and set up an account. That way you can see exactly what you're getting for those 3 mos. If it says you have "3 month trial Sirius All Access", then you have access to Sirius over the Internet as well, so on your phone, tablet etc. If it says you have "3 month trial Sirius Select" then you don't have as many channels as the all access plan and no Internet access, but you still have like 102 channels in the car only. FYI, the 5 mos/$25 is for "Sirius Select". Not "All Access". Enjoy! :love_shower:
