First oil change 2014 FFH

Recommended Posts

At 7800 miles, did my first oil change. Advanced Auto, buy 5 quart bottle Mobil 1 get a Mobil 1 filter free. Ended up with 0w-20 and a M1-102 filter for $35.99.

Very easy oil change, about 12 T25 torx screws to remove the cover and a 15 mm socket. Filter came off easy but drained a long time. Most vehicles there is a little trickle, but this one had a lot of oil drain out.

The old oil was fairly clean and did not smell burned. My oil change meter said 25%, and I think that is about right.

One of the easiest and cleanest oil changes I have done in my 40+ years of doing them.

Hmmm, the T25s felt a bit loose, but worked fine. They weren't very tight. A T27 might have been perfect...next time I will try a larger torx.

They're only going into plastic, so it might only take something close. Still, I believe the 2013 thread indicated T30 and that's what I used. I'm still probably a couple of months away from an oil change for my wife's 2014, and I'm too lazy to crawl under it to check now...
