Swap 18" Fusion tires for 17" C-Max tires

I was messing around to see if the spare I bought for my 14 Fusion will fit my 13 C-Max. The standard Fusion spare will fit either car. Now, just for giggles, I'm toying with the idea of swapping the tires between the cars and seeing what happens. The fusion has 235-45R18 and the max has 225-50R17 tires. They are both V rated.

 

What should I be concerned about?

Speedometer is about it. The overall diameter between the two might be a little different.

Make sure the load ratings are the same. Also you'll have to reprogram the TPMS on each car.

 

The tire diameter is different enough that it might mess up your GPS and Adaptive Cruise, if you have those.

The tires are only 1.1% difference in diameter. That shouldnt make that much of a difference.

The 17 inch tires have lower rolling resistance which should be noticeable. I think you should try it as an experiment and do some coast down testing to measure the rolling resistance difference.
