Thank you very much. Yes, indeed. 25% cheaper. The zero deductible for same duration and miles was $100 less than the $100 deductible warranty that I was offered..

I'm still within the original 3/36 warranty but it is Ford Certified. I have the 12mo/12k and the 7yr/100k on it. If I buy the ESP 8yr/75k doesn't that make the certified warranty a waste if the ESP that I purchase starts when the 3/36 started and not after the certified one runs out? ?

The ESP extends your bumper-to-bumper warranty.

when I get >20K I'll look at an ESP from either Anderson, Flood or Lombard (who I dealt with in the past) and see what I get quoted. For now it's the basic stuff.

Just a reminder, it's a lot cheaper to buy the ESP with less than 12k miles on the car, after that the price goes up.

A lot? When I ran quotes the price difference was something insignificant like $35.

When I did it was about $140 for the specific coverage I was looking at. I guess it depends on what which coverage.

Here's the breakdown I did:

Anderson-Koch Ford (http://andersonandkoch-ford-warranty.com/)

All prices are for PremiumCare 8/100 $0 deductible

Miles: 10,200; time owned: <12 months = $1755

Miles: 10,200; time owned: 12<months>36 = $1855

Miles: 35,000; time owned: 12<months>36 = $1855

Miles: 15,000; time owned: <12 months = $1855

 

So the key is to buy before 12 months or 12,000 miles because at that point the price increases. In this case it would increase by $100. I didn't realize the increase would be so much. We'll cross 12,000 miles by June 1st. I guess we need to decide by then if we're going to buy an ESP now or forgo the decision until 36 months or 35,999 miles... The other risk with waiting is that the ESP price may increase...

 

I'm going to post this in one of the warranty threads since it's useful info to remember.

 

Flood Ford has identical pricing.

hello I just bought a 2014 fusion hybrid with 35000 mi on it. I have only put about 2000 mi on it and this is the second time the dealer is changing catalytic converter. is this a common problem? they said stuck fuel injector is the problem. it took a month to get the first one just hope I don't have to wait that long again!

Hi, welcome to the Forum. I hope Ford Service gets with you soon because I think you are the first member we've heard of that has had a catalytic converter replaced. That is a very unusual repair. Were the fuel injectors and spark plugs replaced too?

they replaced the injectors but car still wouldn't run right. now it needs both exhaust manifolds and catalytic converter. not sure about plugs. we are on some sort of waiting list for the parts from ford. there's no release date yet on the parts! who do you call to speed up the process ? the dealer has had the car more than I have!

Both exhaust manifolds? It has 2 catalytic converters but only one manifold.

 

The Atkinson exhaust system consists of:

  • a one-piece catalytic converter manifold with exhaust flexible pipe.
  • an underbody catalytic converter.
  • a resonator.
  • a muffler and tailpipe assembly with isolators.

I understand, that must be very frustrating. :(

It's a complicated piece of machinery and even some Dealership Service Departments are not as up to date on them as they should be.

Is this the Dealer you bought the car from?

the check engine light started to flash then the engine started to jump and stumble, felt like the engine was fighting the electric motor. about 36000mi. I'm not sure how to private message, so if you can tell me how I'll send the rest of the info

had to sell car.......... dealer could not fix it had to call in ford engineer and they won't show up for two more weeks they have had the car for a month and I can't wait any longer!!

You could trade it in to the dealer that is working on it and believes that he can eventually fix it.

When we've traded relatively new cars in to the dealer we found that they didn't want to inspect it or even drive it before giving us money for the vehicle. They seem to just assume that a relatively new vehicle, like his, will be working correctly.

 

This was the case when we traded in our 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid on the black FFH, when dumping the problem-ridden black FFH for the white one & when trading the white FFH for the Energi. None of the dealers even needed to see our cars before giving us a few thousand better than KBB value each time. In each case I negotiated the dealer up from their initial offer, on the white FFH by almost $5000, without them ever seeing the car.

I traded it in to the dealer who is working on it. they are just as fed up as I am . I loved the car but when the dealer has the car more than you do something has to go.
