Tire Mobility Kit instead of Spare tire

Has anyone used the tire mobility kit (that came with the car) when you've gotten a flat tire? I'm still debating whether to buy a spare or just rely on the ford service call or AAA? I have read most of the posts from people who actually bought a spare. I would really like to hear from anyone who has used the kit that Ford has provided to temporarily fix a flat til you can get to a service station or tire store. Or from people who have used a can type like"Fix-a-Flat? Thanks for any info.

I blew a sidewall out on my Mustang Saturday afternoon. I was very happy I had a spare in my trunk.

Simple enough, if the tire goes flat and the mobility kit cant inflate it and seal it, call roadside assistance and have it towed to the nearest dealer. Or if you get the actual spare, you can swap out the flat with the spare and be on your merry way and not be tied into waiting for the dealer to get you a replacement tire two or three days later.

I tried to use the mobility kit, but my rim was bent and the sidewall was blown out and it didn't do anything. Fortunately I found a spare to "borrow", otherwise I would have been without my car for a couple days and likely would have had to pay $100-200 more for the replacement wheel and tire since I wouldn't have had the ability to shop around. Shortly after I bought a spare and jack kit for $110 on ebay.

Where did you find a spare to "borrow"? People who bought a spare...what did you end up getting?

My car arrives on Thursday and I'm thinking of doing the same. However my car comes with 18" premium wheels and not the standard 17" (I wouldn't have picked this option myself but I got the car used). I read on another thread that those who bought the spare tire had 17" wheels... would I be able to get an 18" spare? If not, I'll just have to live with the tire mobility kit instead as there's no way I'm spending $1000+ to change all 4 wheels just so a spare can match.

Out of the back of a regular Fusion. There's no need to get anything other than what comes in the non-hybrid Fusion, which is also exactly the same as what comes in the regular 2012+ Focus.

Warning for any Energi owners reading this thread. That spare will not work on an Energi. It will bind against the brake caliper and prevent the wheel from turning.

Waldo, I am starting to shop for a spare for my 2015 FFH that I have on order. I seem to remember there was a question if the 2012 Focus spare worked (but 2013+ for sure works). Have you confirmed that a 2012 Focus spare works?
